  1. SlowMotion, I don't beleive anyone is actively updating Harv's Excel list. It more or less has evolved into Spike's Scenario Archive, as well as my own Scenario Depot. Both sites effectively contain identical information, but each presents it in a different way. Give Spike's site a try, it is very similar in layout to Harv's familiar spreadsheet, thus makes browing a large number of scenario titles very easy.
  2. SlowMotion, At last count there are 850+ battles and operations (no, not all of them are listed yet...that's on the giant "Things I Still Gotta Do" list). The Scenario Depot is still relatively young (by CM standards) therefore not every scenarios has had a chance to be reviewed. Also part of the process involves people who have played these wonderful works of art coming back and putting in their 2ยข worth. I like your suggestion about "scenario recommendations". Expect to see that implmented within a couple/three weeks. [ 07-13-2001: Message edited by: Admiral Keth ]
  3. SlowMotion, The Scenario Depot has just that! It is a site specifically dedicated to peer reviews of Combat Mission's scenarios. You can read the reviews, download (or link to the owner's site) the scenario, play it, then come back and review it according to how it played out for you. For downloadable scenarios, no one comes close to Spike's Scenario Archive.
  4. BirdGunner, et al, A recent electrical storm blew up my DSL modem (not even an exaggeration), so my connectivity to the outside world is severely impeded. I'm hoping Covad delivers my new modem today, as being incommunicado is absolute agony.
  5. BirdGunner, Thank for AotGWL. I still need the rest of 'em, so if you have them, I'd be much obliged.
  6. Gang, I've discovered that I'm missing a few of the older scenarios. I've searched long and hard on various sites, but alas, to no avail. I'm looking for any of the following battles... Frundsberg Right Attack on the German Winter Line A Small Deadly Space Dog Red Monty Advances The Lion Rampant The Thin Red Line Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Moonpie, There are numerous excellent sites out there that host battles and operations for you to download, including (and in no particular order): Manx's Combat Missions Madmatt's Combat Mission HQ Spike's Scenario Archive Tom's Combat Mission HQ Mensch's der Kessel Desert Fox Desert Rats Scenario Depot This is certainly not an exhaustive list, but it will get you started. Follow the links on each site to other superb pages which contain mods and scenarios. [ 07-03-2001: Message edited by: Admiral Keth ]
  8. Gang, 5 new scenarios are ready for download and review at The Scenario Depot. Tank Trap (Large) by Andy Thomas Tank Trap (Small) by Andy Thomas Munitions Factory by Rives Jones Slam the Back Door by Terence Nelan String and Bailing Wire by Terence Nelan Stop by, download the excellent scenarios, then show your support and appreciation to these hard-working authors by reviewing their work. Prosit!
  9. Freak, Click on the Zip graphic to the left of the scenario name.
  10. Both of these EXCELLENT battles can be reviewed and downloaded at The Scenario Depot. Show your appreciation to Grunto IV by downloading, then reviewing these wonderful battles.
  11. TinMan, Check outThe Scenario Depot. There you can find Amazon-style reviews for 700+ Combat Mission battles and operations.
  12. Maximus, Two different battles by that name; both of these were found using the Scenario Depot Search Engine: 1) Made by Dirty Harry and is currently hosted at The Rugged Defense. 2) Made by Juan Ramon Lopez Letamendi and was hosted by Tom's Combat Mission. 13. Terence, The battle Point du Hoc was made by Patrick Feyret, and can be found on the Appui-Feu website.
  14. Panzer Leader, Sincerest appreciation for your, and everyone else's, suggestions and words of encouragement. They are what shape the very nature of the Scenario Depot. Among my next tasks are to obtain the permissions from authors to link to or host their scenarios. I have already received numerous permissions, as well as files from authors. Up to this point, I was more concerned with making the whole thing work properly. Then I would add in the scenarios themselves. It is absolutely next on my To Do list. Indeed, Spike is doing a superlative job hunting down all of those "hard-to-find" battles and operations. Spike, you are strongly encouraged to continue your work. The more access people have to these fine works, the better. This prevents the loss of these resources in the unlikely event any of our web hosts decide they can no longer take the heat of the current dot-com environment.
  15. Panzer Leader, A documented MySQL drawback states that the MySQL will return an "Out of Memory" error if it returns too many results within a single query. I am working on code which will break the grand results up into seperate pages of 50 to 100 results per page, thus circumventing this little problem. Each of the pages will have a clickable link to navigate to that page, as well as PRV and NEXT buttons. Look for this shortly. PantherGunner, As described on the Waht's New page, I have changed ALL SUM() calculations to AVG(). It now more accurately reflects the average cumulative ratings. Plus, I have added a column on the index pages which show how many reviews this particular battle or operation has recieved. I hope these are waht you were looking for.
  16. Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, BattleFront!
  17. PanzerLeader, I considered both methods (average and sum total). Never too late to change I suppose...perhaps other people can chime in here. Which is it gang...average or sum total. Michael, All outstanding ideas. I'll see how many I can plug in over the next couple of weeks. Windopaene, Error corrected...cantankerous Netscape...</table> tags...grrrrr [ 06-05-2001: Message edited by: Admiral Keth ]
  18. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Windopaene: It appears that one can only see one review per scenario, even though in some cases, it looks as if more than one has been entered, (total ratings > 10).<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> It appears to be a browser-related issue. Works fine in IE but Netscape displays the last record. I'll look into that.
  19. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by KnifeForkSpoon: ...I've posted about 4 reviews to various scenarios yesterday, but have yet to see them "up in lights." ... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Ack! And that's what happens when you forget to AUTO_INCREMENT a field in MySQL. All fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> ...Do you review each review? Or do they just take some time to post... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The answer is...Negative. All reviews are posted immediately and are unedited.
  20. Yep, Another update! Several major enhancements! * User-submission for battles and operations enabled. * Search engines for battles and operations enabled - multiple search criteria! * Graphics to show new battles and operations younger than 10 days.
  21. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by JasonC: I think it might be better to spread those out, by listing them under the first letter of the next word after "The". <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> JasonC, Being a Senior Technical Writer for about 15 years now, it kinda goes against my grain as well. However, once I implement the Search feature, this type of English faux pas goes away. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Also for others on this thread, anyone know where I ought to submit a new scenario these days, so that people see it? Here obviously, once that feature is up<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Working on this feature right now. Hoping to have it implemented by end of 06.03.01.
  22. Michael, Hmmm...I suppose you are correct. I'll make some adjustments after I finish this batch of Cherry Wheat homebrew.
  23. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by David Stone: Do you need zips of scenarios that are listed as "N/A" on the downloadable field? Or do you have copies of them already? Stoner<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> David, Thanks for the offer! I believe that I have a large number of the scenarios listed in the database, but there are some which are MIA. I would sincerely appreciate it if you could send me any Zips for which you can authorize me to host. They will be more 'up-to-date' than the ones I might have. All scenario authors... If you have scenarios that you would like hosted (I've got 500Mb's of web space and 5Gb transfer), please send them. Note that I will be sending requests to all of the listed authors asking their permission to host or link to their scenarios. I would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support and suggestions. Expect great things from this site in the coming weeks.
  24. Thanks! I'm already hard at work integrating a series of "sort by's" and a couple of Search pages that will make finding any particular scenario or operation really easy.
