  2. Wind effects how fire spreads and how long smoke screens last. I once asked Kwazydog if it also effected gunnery accuracy and he said he thought it did, but was not sure.
  3. Same here. I would be leary of going to DX 9 now unless you have a new ATI Radeon 9700 card that uses DX 9 features. Otherwise it's not likely you will see much if any performance increase and if system stability suffers its a bitch to go back because you can't uninstall Direct X like a driver. I didn't get DX 8 until I bought CMBB. [ December 24, 2002, 08:28 AM: Message edited by: Vanir Ausf B ]
  4. I agree. I think it is a problem. If the TacAI buttoned the tank to begin with I don't have a problem with them unbuttoning it, but if the player buttons it should stay buttoned until the player unbuttons it.
  5. You could also look at the data screen for a Valentine IX. If it has a L50 gun it's 1.01. If it's L43 it's still 1.00.
  6. ? A assure you there are many more possibilities than that. It is also extremely unlikely we will ever see a Pacific theater CM.
  7. Bingo. It's all subjective. In truth I would also prefer to see the Mediterranean next... THEN modern. Of those, I think only Korea would be feasible from a commercial standpoint. In the current political climate Arab-Israeli would be too controversial. India vs. anybody is too obscure. That was my impression as well, but it's nice to hear it from someone with professional background in the subject.
  8. Um, guys, this IS modeled in the game, to some extent. Tanks in scattered trees rotate their turret more slowly. Units next to buildings rotate their turret MUCH more slowly if rotating toward the building. I don't think differences in barrel lengths are modeled, however. 9. Neutral Party, I think BFC is planning on doing something along the lines you are suggesting, minus the web page. Steve's smilies did not survive the cut & paste. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=002392;p=4 [ December 10, 2002, 01:55 PM: Message edited by: Vanir Ausf B ]
  10. You guys are forgetting that he said 1970-80, not 2002. Big difference.
  11. I just tested it. KV-1 M41: 4.6 rounds per minute T-34/76 M43: 4.8 rounds per minute This is after 5 turns of firing. I would almost bet that there is actually no difference.
  12. IntelWeenie! Holy cow man, I thought you were dead.
  13. As you stated in an earlier post, it is not clear if this is possible for all units in CM. I would not be surprised if it was not possible for the T-44 and IS-3. I have no problem with this since these units never actually saw combat in WW2. However, the same should not be true for the Sturmtiger, as you rightly pointed out in the same post. My prefered method is to force this by using a rarity by availability model rather than the rarity by price manipulation used in CMBB. But that is water under the bridge, I'm afraid.
  14. I second that emotion. Fortunately Steve has said that BFC is interested in doing just such a game at some point. Let's hope they don't take too long.
  15. It was certainly possible. Tanks were destroyed at ranges greater than that. [ December 10, 2002, 01:00 PM: Message edited by: Vanir Ausf B ]
  16. My reaction is "whaaaaa"??? Play a 2000 pt QB on a 2km x 4km map and tell me there is no room to maneuver. "Too close"? Use light trees and gentle slopes. You can get engagement ranges of over 2km with the right terrain. A non-issue as far as I'm concerned.
  17. A positive review in one of the most widely read publications in the US is always nice. Too bad they failed to mention that it's only available online.
  18. "gem ram kangaroo"? Anyway, as per your request HERE is a link which I have confirmed to be working. As you did not specify what it was you wanted to link to, I guessed.
  19. A save game file showing the bug would go a long way, I suspect. That and a Philips-head screwdriver. [ December 08, 2002, 11:12 AM: Message edited by: Vanir Ausf B ]
  20. I disagree. I think 6/41 to about 3/42 is best for Soviets. The SU-100 doesn't appear until January '45 and is never common. The JS-2 and T-34/85 don't give the Soviets any advantage over the Germans, they just restore some level of parity to what is a rather lop-sided armor vs. armor contest before then. The only time frame when the Soviets have common equipment that the Germans have serious difficulty countering is early war.
