Once a minefield is spotted, you CANNOT voluntarily move into it.

Actually, you CAN force your infantry to ignore minefields. Of course, if through casualties and the like they become pinned or worse, then they will usually leg it in the wrong direction, but sometimes it's worth taking a few casualties to surprise the opposition.
2. As for the unreadable text bug: What am I supposed to do with my original 16MB TNT card? The drivers don't have an anti-aliasing feature because this card can't do it. What do BTS say on the matter? "Turn on force AA in all applications" Me: "I can't do that I've only got a TNT" BTS: "Well it must be a driver bug, or somefink." Me: "This doesn't happen in any of the many other DirectX games I have, so why does it happen in CM, and waht steps are you taking to make sure it isn't repeated in CM2" BTS: "" It's a ridiculous situation which means that I don't play battles because I can't read the text, and that I have to close CM and reopen it everytime I start a new game.

4.
quote:
Originally posted by Wolfcub: how the did u do that?

I've no idea actually. My mortar was bombarding an area to try and stop his infantry and this Panther just drove into it... and died!
5. Not related to Valley of Trouble, but as an illustration of luck in this game: I just finished playing a scenario where one of my polish 2" mortars took out a Panther G (a PANTHER G!) when it drove into the barrage. Got a weak spot penetration on the side of the turret. I laughed so hard... and then razed his town to the ground with my remaining armour.
6. You suck? Seriously, I know you only just got the game, so maybe you're trying to play the wrong sort of people. There are quite a few players around here who've been playing for over a year and are pretty much masters of the game. I've only just got my copy of the full game as well, so if you want a game email me at mikeluke1@yahoo.com or ICQ 42222936 Edited to include: hehe - and you've got a lower member number than me. I'm a newbie to you. [ 04-09-2001: Message edited by: Skorpion ]
7. Ha - you think that's good? Playing as the Polish (whose infantry has NO anti-tank weaponry at all) and I managed to take out a Panther G with a 2" mortar!!!!! Got a weak spot on the side turret. I was so amazed I almost fell out of my chair. Then I went to town on the jerries with my three remaining Shermans.
8.
quote:
Originally posted by BloodyBucket: Nothing calls in air support. It just runs itself if purchased or provided by the scenario. It can be driven off or shot down by your opponent's actions. As to forward observers.... When forward observers fight it's called a forward observer battle. And when they battle with a Hummel it's a forward observer Hummel battle. AND when forward observers battle with a Hummel in a puddle it's called forward observer Hummel puddle battle. AND... When forward observers battle Hummels in a puddle and the Hummel is hull down they call this a forward observer Hummel hull down puddle battle. AND... Hope that helps.

What he said. Sorry - I mean what did he say? Best tactic for FO's - find a tall building with a wide LOS and hide up there.
9. Well if we're going to go down that route - how about orders such as "go over that ridge, fire one shot at any enemy you see, and then reverse back down out of sight"? Number of times I've lost tanks because you can't get them back out of danger quick enough is disgusting.
10. And anyway, a 12-man squad would take up half the map if you had it on scale +4
11. Seeing as I only just got CMBO, and it cost more than any other game I've ever bought when you include shipping, I don't think I'll be russian (sic) out to buy CM2. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't ever but CM2, just I want to fully enjoy CMBO first.
12. Hmm, if I could just intercede between the flaming (and hasn't MadMatt already warned you Maximus???). In another thread BTS stated that the spellchecker has been removed from UBB because the people who ran the service are moving to a subscription service. So unless you want to pay (in which case buy a dictionary)...
13.
quote:
Originally posted by Lindan: I really don't know, it looks just.. different.

That's got to be the worst colour ever Linden Or is it? And why can't we see how many posts people have done on the left anymore?
14. Oh - so the forum is back now then - and apparently it has been back since the 7th? Then why does my bookmark to the old forum still point to that "Board is down" message? BTS - since you've changed the URL to the forum you need to get rid of the old one I only found out it was back by clicking on the link from the battlefront homepage, otherwise I'd still be cursing at no forum.
15. Sorry guys, although you are both dull as ditchwater, I did manage to read all of this post. Thus, my vote for the dullest ba****d known to man has to go to jasoncawley@fjasklfj.com. Have you ever tried to read one of his posts? Best cure for insomnia ever.
16. So what you're saying is that if a squad, for instance, was ordered to "go to that treeline and cover that field" that they would be unable to decide exactly where in the treeline they sat so that they had the best cover and yet still see the target? Christ almighty! Why do people keep trying to introduce more micro-management into this game???? What is it? Would you like to have to position every single man in every squad to the exact position that they should stand? Would that make the game more playable? Of course not. In this game you play as the commander, and it is legitimate IRL to say to a unit move over in that direction and cover that area. Of course, we don't want the ai to second guess where we want them, but we can simulate the men choosing a good firing position, for instance, by allowing us to determine what they will be able to see from a certain position. The current system is silly, because the map doesn't provide enough clarity as to whether a unit can see something, or if it should move two pixels further away.
17. Surely the point of dynamic flags is that the attacker knows what he is going to attack, but the defender doesn't. How many wars do you know of where the attacker had sent a note to the defender saying "make sure you defend this piece of land old boy, because we're going to have a go at it tomorrow"?
18. In reply to Griffin: You don't need to specify them in connection properties, but when you're connected you will have had them assigned automatically, which is why SenorBeef asked him to check the settings using winipcfg To CDIC: As you are connecting but not being given a DNS server address or a gateway address it suggests that something is wrong with either the ISP's DHCP server, which allocates the numbers, or your machine's dial up networking components. Either way it's not going to be easy to troubleshoot. Firstly try uninstalling the TCP/IP protocol and reinstalling it. If that doesn't work you may need to reinstall the OS or just use the fallback technique of manually entering the DNS server and Gateway addresses in to the connection properties page. The only problem with manually entering the addresses is if they change you won't be able to connect at all. Hope that helps you some. ------------------ Skorpion Think you've got me? 19. Cheers for the link radar - that site has some mean smilies.
20. I can't wait - keep up the good work guys. Hope your server can handle the pressure
21. Thanks. Now I just have to continue waiting... Nope - still not here
22. Can anyone tell me if there is a Pegasus Bridge scenario in the full game (still waiting for it to arrive) or if anyone has made one yet?
23. Sorry about that, got a bit carried away there. I've deleted my post above advertising it so hopefully the other thread will just die a death of its own. In the meantime, if we keep posting to this one people will read it as its at the top of the list ------------------ Skorpion Think you've got me? Watch out for the sting in my tail!
24. Now that would be a cool game! Could I play as three different nationalities at the same time as well? ------------------ Skorpion Think you've got me? Watch out for the sting in my tail!
