Yes, Elite crews have a faster reload time.

Yes, successive damage drops all the speed values. However, once you hit a fence/wall, the damage usually doesn't continue to accrue. (Usually.)

And I open the door for anyone holding this opinion to immediately shed every extraneous vestige of civilization that they'd like to shed. However, do not EVER assume that I should follow you. (Years ago I had neighbors in Vermont. 10+ acre plots. They were TOTALLY into minimizing their "footprint". LOL! Outhouse, woodstove, solar-maximized house, hand-powered pitcherpump well, no electricity or phone line. You want pancakes in July? Got to bank up that wood stove and cook 'em. We laughed during a nighttime blizzard as we could see one of them carry a lantern out to the outhouse in -10F to -20F temps. They laughed about that the next day, too. Gradually, they eased into modernity, one step at a time. Gas stove; life was so much better. Telephone; only for work. Electricity; for lights, really, it's safer. Indoor plumbing came a few years later.) Yeah, "people consume too much". LOL. What they MEAN is, "OTHER people consume too much, and I should be in charge of distributing and allocating resources because I'm smart enough to see this truth." Back OT: As much as I hate being spammed by overly-many links in threads, Kettler's google-fu is pretty good. When he goes overboard, I scroll past.

Or green felt. I want green felt. Yard after yard of green felt. Gamey heaven...

Low stone walls are crossable by full-sized tracked vehicles. They'll rubble that section of the low wall. Little tanks, like the Stuart, cannot cross them. Tanks take a step-loss in track damage. From full green to light green. That level does not change despite successive wall breachings. (The little stuff all broke and bent on the first crush, after that it doesn't matter anymore.) Of course, that's all AIUI.

I Hope This Is a Bug and Not a Dumb Design Decision

The gyro was NOT meant for in-motion firing. Without getting into the large difference in sights between Allied and German gunsights (they had significantly different approaches), the Allied gunsights relied on gunner judgment for "holdover". When repositioning, with slightly different ground slopes at the two positions, the holdover would be totally lost. Totally. Lost. The ENTIRE ranging in process would have to be started from scratch. (Basically. Purists will note that the initial guesstimate would still be close.) The gyro would obviate that need. It kept the gun "ranged" to the previous shot, regardless of where the tank moved. It was NOT meant to compensate for in-motion dynamics. -
Excellent! A plan of attack!

I disagree. It is not reasonable to assume that the accuracy you documented with pauses is equal to the accuracy of moving vehicles. IMO. -

My bold, a lot of other verbiage redacted. Are you sure that paused accuracy is EQUAL to moving accuracy? -
Got mine, and enjoying it. Well done!

Help: I need to figure out the compass
c3k replied to A Canadian Cat's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well, the confusion is that it's called a "compass". Most magnetic compasses use a needle which "seeks" magnetic north. The needle on this compass disdains such limitations and rotates with the player, not the earth's magnetic field. So, if you're well trained in compassing, the needle provides extremely disorienting misinformation. Having the needle enclosed within a compass card reinforces the mislabeling of it as a "compass". Marco Bergman's mod does a wonderful job of cutting the associations of the game-aid with its being a compass. I've spent my adult life quite literally betting my life on my ability to read a compass without any hesitation. (Yes, "literally".) Having a non-compass labelled as a compass and looking like a compass is disorienting to me. I don't think about what I see when I have a compass in my peripheral vision. I incorporate it into my situational awareness. The game-aid "pushes" against my life-long skill-set, and loses. Unless I stare at the friggin' thing and consciously interpret it, I frequently screw up. Making it an eye-ball/camera graphic accurately shows what it is portraying. Shrug. Ken -
Dereliction of Duty? (C2 issue)

I have a theory... I'll grab your savegame and see if it's correct. Just verify that you played/created this savegame w/v2.01. Ken -
Georgie, Consider this read by Phil. I'll post a bug report on it (after verification). Thanks again. Ken

To me, having not double-checked any of this, the accuracy -should- be same if a tank is paused for 60 seconds vs. being stopped for 60 seconds. The foreknowledge of a movement command in the future should not affect the accuracy. -
That is a screenshot! You have already won the battle. Your opponent is afraid and has left the file for almost a day in a fruitless attempt to avoid the fight! With your obvious ascendancy in the morale field, your eventual battlefield victory is assured. Do not worry about tactics. All that is left is for you to attack. He will crumble.

The QB vs. AI strength is that it is very helpful to work on basic tactics without "wasting" a precious scenario. If attacking the AI (which is preferred for obvious reasons), never give yourself extra points. The AI needs all the help it can get: give it a lot of points. So, yes, there is a good use for playing QB's vs. the AI. Plus, after you get your butt handed to you in a pbem, it always feels good to beat the AI. Ken

Gustav Line QB AAR - Allied

Yes, however that may be, THIS time, Mr. Emry's, you were WRONG. Free sig material provided as needed. Ken -
Exactly! Stop thinking. Thinking leads to indecision. Indecision leads to defeat. Defeat leads to ridicule. Ergo, if you think, we'll ridicule you. You are correct: VL's are indefensible. If you kill all of your enemy, the VL's will take care of themselves. Now, gird your loins and plunge forward!! Ken

Hmm, the key will be to ATTACK EVERYWHERE!!! At once! With verve and elan. Remember what Sun Tzu said about the fog. (Or, I may be thinking about Mel Torme.) Nevermind. You know what we expect. -
Good description, good catch. Do you have a savegame?

Yes, the zmb-viewpoint.brz is the one. (It is mentioned at the end of his list of all the other mods included in that pack.) -

Calling it a "compass" is an insult to all magnetic devices. It is more of a "you're looking this way" device. Marco Bergman has an excellent mod which substitutes an "eyeball looking" in place of the "non-north seeking arrow". Just wait till you need to determine wind direction for your smoke screen. That's when the "compass" will kick your butt, every time. -

Stop the silly chatter. You're wasting time. ATTACK! And post up some pictures. -

Double-check the in-game shot you've been looking at. Pay attention to the gun mantlet, top and bottom. You'll see that the front superstructure armor is sloped back, as evidenced by the distance from the mantlet to the superstructure. It seems to be an illusion, due to the angle. They look really good in-game. Ken
