I remember reading somewhere (Beevor?) that in Stalingrad they were used in direct fire across the river... by puttin the truck in a slope, so it could aim their rockets straight !!! So probably not really a common thing, really. It was done, but... well, not really designed for that.

A bit off topic.... Will we be able to fight in the Spanish Civil War in the early war CM? You know, it was as a trainning ground to Germans and Italians (well, Italians did not learn too much), and we had plenty of foreigners fighting along the Republic as well. And some historians claim, BTW, that the fist succesful Blitzkrieg was done by the Germans here, after the Battle of Ebro, when they invaded Catalonia. The day Barcelona felt in Franco´s hands, half of my familiy was crossing the French border. Exile was hard... And remember that some of the first tanks that reached Paris in 1944 were named "Don Quijote", "Castilla" and "Madrid"... and driven by Spaniards.

This is my point. First of all, I have to say that I actually like "Pengdom", "Peng Humour" and "Pengness"; I usually have really good laughts with all the threads. But things are getting quite out of hand. Don´t misread me, guys, but I think everybody will be happier if BTS create a separate "All About my Peng" board. Honestly. No more complaints about excessive "Pengdom" or locked threads because we already have a "Pengelant" going out. No more Blood Hamster AAR misunderstandings. No more "should we ban Peng". But we will gain quite a bit of freedom. Humourless grogs (said with a huge smile implying "hey, it´s a joke, guys...") will get a wider field ahead, and Pengers a board just waiting their rampaging humoristic chaos. What you think? Well, accoding to the information I gave, I was being a bit rude to those guys inside the Sherm. Yeah, they faced a JT, tried hard and got spanked... Oh, heroics. They were heroes, but damm clumsy heroes. The 3 shots were from 40 metres. Side shots, from 40 m., three misses. Oh well. Heroes, but damm unlucky, and quite dead.... BTW, yeah, it was a great QB, one of the best of this size I've played against the AI. I really felt happy when the monster got killed... Man, I love this game. Now I Just began another QB attack against the AI, and I choosed their allied troops. I gave them two Pershings in a 1500 point battle. Let´s face some big tanks again.... (Damm, the AI gave me only two Marders and a Pz Mk IV!!! Oh well...) :eek: :mad: :eek:

Well, I was having small QB against the AI yesterday. In one of the battles, I was leading a 1000 points allied attack on a town. I got a pretty useful mixture of units, with two 81 mm mortar arty spotters, a Sherman 76 +, ando good infantry. The attack was doing well, even after losing a full squad in less than 10 seconds in an ambush. When I reached the center of the town with my front units, clearing the way to the Sherm, I saw the most gamey thing that the AI has ever made in my computer: He had bought a JagdTiger. Yes, that thing with a huge gun, heavy armour and low production.... Man, I had a really hard time. I laid tons of smoke with the mortars all around the village, moved in the Zooks and the Sherm trying to flank the monster...(hard time, hard time!!!). I lost 3 zooks, the Sherm (those guys in the Ronson should be court martialled: they blasted 3 rounds in the side armour of the JT without getting a penetration before the beast got them) and finally destroyed the damm thing with my last zook in a flank shot from 25 m. Wow. Well, I won the battle, and with a major victory... but That's being gamey !!! I think I should accuse my Athlon of gameyness !!! :cool: [ 05-06-2001: Message edited by: Blenheim ]

Good point, really.... probably the answer is that the Pershing saw very little combat, so in fact was not a major actor in the war. But just wild speculation here. Any grog answering?

Or some hardcore partisan actions in Spain... or the Scott Greys at Waterloo.... Or the carnage at Aspern-Essling and Borodino... the big redoubt... La Haye Sainte... Woow...
