  1. WW I would be rather boring most of the time... 1. Arty barrage, two days long. 2. First wave... machinegunned... 3. Second wave... oh, look that one... he reached halfway.... 4. Third wave... the arty barrage helping them falls short and kills everybody by "not so friendly fire" 5. Fourth wave... 200 m advance. Atack halts. 6. Counter attack... same positions.... Only in late 1917 and 1918 it will get quite fun. And in some of the Alpinian battles, with those ****ty italians. And BTW, I'd love seeing some so-called Italian tanks. Worse than a Sherman... how did they manage to do that? ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  2. ( and please you grognards... I know that NKVD guys were abolished before our favourite AA thinguie came to the field...)
  3. "Hei, comrade Dmitri, those hated teutonic imperialists have a lot of big, ugly, dark guns... are you sure that when the general told you THAT?" "Da, comrade Ivanov! Comrade Zhukov said run and hit tactic, not hit and run" "You mean run across this flat part of the motherland in front of those big Ostwind thinguies used in a trully gamey way?" "Da comrade. By the way, comrade Beria in Moscova maybe is interested in your tactical views... asking stupid questions about war, about how we won the revolutionary war, could mean that you are kind of petit burgueois !!" "Well, comrade Ivanov... I'll suggest to attack now..." ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  4. Thank you, guys !!! that's wisdom !!!! (BTW, I won !!! I got lucky here. A rocket atack that was suppposed to crush my atack destroyed two german pillboxes and a panther. I had destroyed a careless KT before, so it got easy...) ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  5. I think that CM is the only game with Civ II that I konw I wouldn´t ever delete from my HD. CM is amazing... and with so much people improving it with mods an scenarios (do a clean install in a different directory... see the change) it never seems old. And its real. REAL, in every sense of the word. (Civ II is also amazing, because is epic history-telling... god, you can write the history of the world with it. Love that game, probably the best of all time)
  6. Well.... probably tooo brief, really.... ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  7. OK, guys, I have a problem. I've been playing this game for months.I take the germans, and I am rather good. I take the americans, and I get spanked (hate Shermans). But when I take the brits and tanks show up, I am lost. Really lost. What are the roles of british tanks? How am I supposed to use a Cromwell, Churchill, or anything? Brief, please... I am in serious problems against a friend now.... ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  8. Hei !!! I am a goddammed commie lover !!! Long life T34, winner of the war !!! ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  9. Quote: "or french tanks" Well, this is a clichè, I think. French tanks were pretty good (in fact, much better in some cases than the crappy PzIII and IV early versions) but were used really bad. The French, instead of massing the tanks in a sector of the battlefield, the spreaded them thinly all over the front. The result: crappy german tanks always got overwhelming numerical superiority... but french boxes were not bad.
  10. Great test, comissar.. You left out skirmishers (an split platoon, maybe?) and a couple of other things, but wooow. It worked right. BTS, hear us !!! ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  11. God, and I though I was a freak enjoying that old fashioned battles.... Wooow. So many napoleonic fans. Great, I feel better now, I am not a guy who was born in the wrong century. Well, about the games... I just would love to see Shogun-like Napoleonic battles!!! Somebody get a license of that engine. The only sad stuff is that Shogun was rather unrealistic sometimes, but... well, things can be improved. I agree with all that has been said about Battleground series. Pretty good, not perfect; true. By the way... I had wonderfull times a couple of computer centuries ago with "Fields of Glory"... Does anybody remember it? Comments? I loved the feeling of charging a disordered infantry battalion with my curassiers. Not "CMBO-level" realism, but pretty good. ------------------ "We do not retreat... we advance to the back of the formation..." (brave new soldier)
  12. Yes, I know. I will have to wait for a couple of centuries before I see that game... But I want it. God, I want see the Borodino fortifications through the eyes of a french soldier.... Any ideas about how this could be done ?
  13. The history of my -still young- nickname... Well, its taken from a battle of the War of Spanish Succession fought between British (with Austrian help) against French. The British general, Marlborough, won the title of Duke of Blenheim after crushing the Frenche there. By the way, That general was an ancestor of Winston Churchill, our beloved Prime Minister.
