1. Sorry man, but here's another one. Can you upgrade the amount of MPP's lost for damaging resources/cities? Whenever I play the AI, I'm more than happy to let him bomb the heck out of my ports and cities because I know it's costing him more to repair his airfleets than he's causing me to lose. I might actually invest a few research points into Anti-Aircraft if this were the case. B
2. We understand that Ted, but you don't have to ENJOY it so much!! B
3. Yah, Last Defence for me too. Played as the Germans and grouped my dismounted PanzerGrenadiers on the left flank with the half tracks provided cover fire. I watched the third or fourth turn over and over again as an American rifle squad opened fire on my troopers only to call down four streams of MG42 fire. I think the sound of the '42 hooked me forever! B
4. Well BB, I was just going to post a similar thread, but you beat me to it! I think Hubert needs to change the title to 'Strategic Crack' or something. Every single time I play, the end of the demo always gets me just when things are getting really interesting! The last time, both America and Russia declared war on me at the same time, just when I had successfully started Sea Lion. Oh well, I hope it comes out soon because I'm losing enough sleep to this little gem already. B(just one
5. I was just reading Ted's AAR (excellent job BTW) and now I have a few questions. As I understand it now, the player will know the exact amount of commitment each Allied/Axis country has toward their particular alliance. First of all, is this correct, or am I completely off? Now the questions; 1) Does this percentage apply only to the Major powers of each alliance? 2) Would it be possible (via a game setting perhaps) to hide this percentage, or only use vague terminology? i.e. Strong, Moderate, Weak. IIRC, Hitler was surprised by England's declaration of war after the invasion of Poland, and I feel hidden commitments would add an element of uncertainty to the proceedings. Bart
6. Ted; Shut up and get back to work on those AAR's! B
7. I agree completely. Intelligence assets are a very important strategic resource that might be modelled in the game. Perhaps as another area of research? The question becomes, however, how could the benefit of superior/inferior intelligence assets be modeled?
8. Where do you go from here? Assuming that SC European Theatre does well for both you and BTS, any plans on doing the Pacific Theatre, or maybe even a Global version? I know you mentioned something about limitations on the map size right now, but a Global version of SC sure would interest me. I know it's kind of hard to say considering the current product isn't even produced yet, but I'm just curious. (and a shameless plea for a demo) Bart
9. Whuzzat, sex AND wargaming!? Together?!!! Is that legal? B
10. If a moving unit is forced to stop by entering the ZOC of a previously undiscovered enemy unit, will the unit in motion be fighting at a disadvantage?
11. Not sure if this question has been asked/answered before, but here goes. Do units have a zone of control? i.e., do units force an enemy unit to stop moving once it has entered one of it's six adjacent hexes? If so, do only ground and naval units have a ZOC? I wouldn't expecet an air unit to have one, except perhaps vs. other air units. If units do not have ZOC, why not? Personally, given the approximate scale of the game, I would think it appropriate, but then again, I'm not programming the game Eagerly awaiting a demo/release date. B
12. If I may interject a brief comment here; You, sirra, are an EVIL EVIL man! Thankyou and good day. B PS :
13. Oh well, I was only (half) joking anyway. As with most other posters here I have been waiting for a grand strategy WWII game for, well it seems like forever, and it sure looks like SC will fit the bill. Incidentally, does Battlefront have need of playtesters at all? I have some experience in this area and am familiar with NDA's and such. Bart
14. Aw hell, I'm easy to persuade. Just send me a beta build and I'd be happy to do ALL the AAR's you want!!
15. CMBB will be a self-enclosed game. As you may expect, although based on the same engine as CMBO, there are numerous 'upgrades' being applied to the game engine. Due for release (it is rumoured) sometime in the June/July timeframe. B
16. *ahem* And that would be...........when? (blatant, shameless plug for even more bone-tossing) B
17. Finding myself with nothing else to do on a Saturday, I finished off an operation I had sitting on my hard drive and it's in need of some playtesting. Anyone interested? British vs. Heer August '44 3000 points per side Dry ground, mixed weather. Generally better played as the British vs. the AI Fictional British assault on a German-held village in hilly, well forested terrain. I have done a bit of preliminary playtesting, but since I built the bloody thing, I get no surprises other than in how the AI sets up his forces. Let me know, and I'll email it to you. barticus@rogers.com B
18.
quote:
Originally posted by Terence: Exactly. There's no way to know. It could drive game designers mad Maad MAAAAAD, trying to figure it out. Best, I think, to stick with the actual belligerants and their real equipment, and let What If scenarios be based on that.

Best leave that to Matt, then.
19. OK, but Wittman's GHOST is still upset with you.
20.
quote:
Originally posted by dalem: On turn 2 I rolled 3 boxcars for main guns and on turn 3 I rolled boxcars for the other two. I put a billion purchase points and that entire scenario in the crapper myself - no enemy fire needed! I rolled like that for most of the campaign. It was a short campaign. -dale

No offense dalem, but this actually makes me smile. It's good to know I am not the only person with this kind of luck (at dice rolls). B
21. Curse you BTS!! I was a bit late getting on the bandwagon (hey, I don't read EVERY topic)but I thought since my modelling skills are fair, I would give this thing a shot. First mistake: I walked into the hobby shop Second mistake: I looked at the airbrush compressors Third mistake: I took my credit card <sigh> Ah well, $400.00 later and I have no more excuses for getting back into scale modelling. The thing is, now I need to go to Walmart and find a cheap lamp so I have enough light to work on the thing after work.............and some decal fixing agent...............and probably some more paint......thank goodness tomorrow is payday. B
22. Hawkmek..............Hawkmek!...... HEY HAWKMEK!!! Err, thanks for stopping yelling, check out this thread for CMBB release date. More info on CMBB B
23.
quote:
Originally posted by general paulus: cool

Short, sweet, to the point, and entirely functional! Cool indeed! B
