Bocage Mod idea with rough example
gunnergoz replied to Sgt Steiner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Sgt. Steiner...you're a genius! You inspired me to do a bit of my own work. Goes to show what any schmoo with paintshop or photoimpact can do! Far shot: Middle shot: Close-in shot: All you mod makers out there have inspired me to try my hand and like it or not, I'm having a blast! Thanks for the shove in the right direction. -
Really aged me...for a minute I thought you guys were speaking of Willie and Joe. You know, Bill Mauldin? Never mind...{proceeds to babble incoherently as he meanders back to Old Soldiers & Sailors Home).

Bocage Mod idea with rough example
gunnergoz replied to Sgt Steiner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
The photo captures my recollections of bocage in Normandy pretty well. It's too much like a maxi-maze for my liking! The hedge mod is a real step in the right direction. Hmmm, gets me to thinking... -

Thank God for the Marines. Without them us swabbies would never get the liberty ports "liberated" to begin with. -

I could go for a modding forum, that's a good idea. -

Mod Making? MOD Makers please report?
gunnergoz replied to GonzoAttacker's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I've become totally jazzed on Photoimpact. It's got most everything I need. Learning curve is steep but manageable. Experimenting is fun. -

Terrain That Shows Elevation Well
gunnergoz replied to medlinke's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Pvt Ryan, thanks for the kind words. I'm attempting to work out a site to host the grass files now. They currently have been zipped to 3 zip files of about 3.2MB each. -

I agree with the previous advice. Yahoo sucks compared to Google.com. Didn't know about the image restriction though. [This message has been edited by gunnergoz (edited 02-21-2001).]

Terrain That Shows Elevation Well
gunnergoz replied to medlinke's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Well, here's the fall/mud grass mod I promised: another view: closer up: These mods are vaguely based upon DD's original grass and work well with most subdued bases, etc. -
Terrain That Shows Elevation Well
gunnergoz replied to medlinke's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I'm working on a series of what I call speckled grass. So far I have regular, spring, scortched and fall versions. Regular: Spring: scortched: I will later today post the fall/muddy version. Soon I will have adapted supplements on line. I'm looking for a home for these mod files. They are quite big even when zipped (9.7MB) so help and advice would be appreciated. Are you a terrain/building mod nut?
gunnergoz replied to gunnergoz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I'm going to bump this in the hope of getting BigDD's attention... and here's the latest variant of speckled terrain: -
Perhaps they meant sales equivalent to the profit they'd have made from a conventional sale of 200K units through a middleman? That would make actual units moved less, as the profit would be higher per unit if they excluded the middleman. Anyway, GO BTS, GO!

I'm very glad to hear from you Big DD. Your outstanding hires grass is the underlying foundation of some of my own grass mods like: and . May I have your consent to keep working on these mods and to distribute them freely and for free (with appropriate credits)? I've tried getting your email from the forum but no luck. -
Thank you Maximus...I have been in this country only a short distance...

OK, 007, Which files did you download and how did you install them? What type of system do you have? There are many things which could be happening, but we need a more detailed description to be of service to you.

Are you a terrain/building mod nut?
gunnergoz replied to gunnergoz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Well, it's nice to hear from two more of my favorite modders (bet you thought I called you something else there for a minute, eh?). Out of curiosity, what drawing tool software do you find most useful? I recently got turned on to Photoimpact and find it has a teriffic set of tools. With a couple of clicks I can devise mods for all seasons...I lost sleep last night dreaming up new mods...well you know how it goes. -
Are you drawn to CM's ability to exhibit a variety of terrain? Do you fiddle with mods and color palettes, trying to find just the right one for a particular situation? I find myself spending as much time playing with terrain mods and buildings as I do playing CM itself. Perhaps it's the immersive aspect of getting into a 3-D environment. I know that I played shooters for some time and never got hooked...all those dark caverns and narrow corridors...ugh! CM is different. I can set up a scene and climate and walk into it. All around me are scads of WW2 hardware to admire and direct. Nirvana! If only I could have dreamed of this capability when I was a kid! Even my wife, who knows and cares nothing for computers and gaming, finds my little CM landscape worlds intruiging. I'll take her on a walkthrough of a fall or winter landscape, with 3-D environmental sounds going full blast, and she is mesmerized! I'd like to hear from others who are drawn to this particular aspect of CM. My heroes of course are the redoubtable modders like Magua, DD and all you others who showed us what's possible. But it would be nice to hear from others who just get off on terrain modding.
