Is there something wrong with this picture?
Pvt.Tom replied to Lmandrake's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
What exactly is "mucho Panzergrenadiers" 2 platoons? 3 platoons? And what was the experience level of his troops comparied to yours? Green? Vets? Experience makes a big difference in the cost. Beat by your own kid, you'll never live this down, better go practice against someone you don't know for a while -

I think the British got a bunch of them and used them as SP Guns later in the war, in Italy maybe? Anyone? Anyone? -
Thank you Steve, on with CM2!

First, I am not debating that something is wrong with this vehicle. Second, I does not appear that BTS is going to fix it, they are going to continue working on CM2 (fine with me) Third, I don't think I have ever played a PBEM Game where anyone had a Sd Kfz 37mm, am I missing something? Are there loads of people out there buying 10 of these and kicking butt? What is the big deal? This isn't going to get fixed so agree ahead of time not to use them and everything will be fine.

Hit %: When to Fire that AT-gun?

I think fixation on armor is a big problem that a lot of people have, (myself included) so a little reminder is always good IMHO, thank you Michael -

Something else to think about, all RR in CM are a lot harder to spot when firing that in real life, (I think the backblast is not modeled corectly.) I used to play someone who used them a lot and they would get off a lot of shots before I could spot them, so unless he has infantry around you will probably be able to get a couple of shots off before he can respond. -
This may be a dumb question but where on that web site is the first article? I don't see anything on that page relating to tanks in urban combat. Thanks

Good point Head, can I call you Head? Hee Hee Hee. Anyway, that is very true, you grow up reading stories and seeing movies where 1 MG dominates a section of the line then you play CM and it is a big letdown, I guess it is another case of CM shattering old misconceptions about WWII. PS I still think the mortar seems very inaccurate. Pvt.Tom

Ok, I am fine with open ground not readily being open if that is what BTS says. So, a MG doesn't wipe out a charging squad because they are using cover, so shouldn't the same apply when a squad is charging another squad? I will have to test it but a could swear I have a lot more casualties when I charge a squad than a MG. I know the firepower is higher for the squad but geez, I will charge a MG any day over a squad, maybe the movies have made the MG out to be a super weapon that it readily is not. Pvt.Tom

Good point, but just by watching the strike of the mortar shells it seems like a very large % don't land anywhere near the target, I don't have any hard numbers but I bet less than 20% of shells land close to the target (I will have to do a test and get some more concrete figures.) BTW I am referring to onboard mortars in this thread. Pvt.Tom

Hee Hee Hee, Super Hetzer to the rescue! Was there a big red S on the front armor?

Aren't mortars artillery? Let me be more specific: -A) I could be way off - Yes I agree that arty caused most of the casualties but I thought that mortars were the leading causality causing type of arty. -C) Mortars were more effective in CM until the latest patches, now they are much less accurate to keep them from being used as AT guns. I think too inaccurate. -D) Input?
