  1. Pretty much the whole thing, including the fact I can meet people from all over and have them kill me! Armornut
  2. No pics yet, the parts are rather dull(suspension torsion unit and a lot of scrap metal) I will post picks when they are more interesting, maybe a road wheel and some tracks. Untill then I have a few friends who make them; http://www.geocities.com/pentagon/fort/2011 -Dave is the one who turned me onto CM, though he only owns the demo, he and I have had a few games. When I asked why he has yet to get the whole game he said; "I have no time for that I have tanks to make" http://www.rk-modellbau.de/Verkauf.htm My German Friend, who has got tons of information for me. http://www.geocities.com/elf1564/ THE place to go if you are at all interested in making RC tanks. Rusty is a hell of a guy and will answer any questions you may have about this stuff. Just a little to wet your whistle Armornut Two things, Yes they are VERY expensive! But I have several uses for them, of which I will tell you guys one: -Mini paintball guns in the turret= mini tank battle. All steel 1/8 furry! They sound sorta real with metal tracks and gas engines! [This message has been edited by armornut (edited 02-14-2001).]
  3. I am an armor nut. I like to build scale models that are RC. I am building a 1/8th scale KV-2 and SU-152 right now. I mostly stick to the eastern front. (Yeah for CM2) My dream will be true soon! Armornut Okay I have to come clean, that is only part of the reason I am named that; the other reason has to do with my college football career. Lets just say O-line guys must have a cup unless they are the center, and I was a center. I have convinced myself that kids are not an option for me any more. 4. I am really embarassed of this but lost a game because I forgot it was a 20 turn game, and thought it was a 30 turn game. I was in position and ready to move in on his dug in troops, and I had taken the time to move as to not alert him of my position. Therefore on turn 20 I think I am set to move in and hit hard, as he had taken my flank bait big time. It was a PBEM game so when I get tth 21st turn I get a battle report! I felt very stupid! It will never happen again, Armornut
  5. I also ran a test that moved the HT to an elevated position. This was very bad for my poor little inf. Though, once out of the ten runs an infantry squad got the halftrack. (Though I think that a faust was to blame) Just some add-on information Armornut
  6. I have a little more information that may shed some light on the subject, or not. I ran more tests simular to the ones I have reported before, with one major exception; I messed with the elevation of the troops vs the HT. I found that in most all cases if the infantry is even a little higher that the HT they will get a granade into the open top. As I spent many an hour watching up close combat I saw that the granades were rolling under the HT and bouncing off of the side and rolling back. Therefore I tried to elevate my troops on a hill, and with in one turn dead HT. I don't know if this helps, but I saw it at least five or six times. This also goes with the previous findings that a inf squad in a 2nd story building can get a 1/2 track. Again I will let you draw your own conclusions Armornut [This message has been edited by armornut (edited 02-13-2001).]
  7. I just ran a rookie independant test -volks SMG platoon vs M3A1 halftrack: The volks took out the halftrack after three turns with a faust. -volks SMG platoon vs M3A1 halftrack (2): The halftrack made it 16 rounds but it was killed by a granade dropped from a 2nd story window. It had around 15 to 20 granades and four or five fausts launched at it before that, and there was no effect -U.S. Rifle Platoon vs SPW 250/1: This was a different story; the halftrack lived. It took a pounding from rifle granades and hand granades, but nothing got through. At the end of 20 turns the allies had a tactial victory (9 casulties/2dead for the U.S. and 2 okay for the germans). -U.S. Rifle Platoon vs SPW 250/1(2): This time I tried the 2nd story granade drop, and it worked. It took a while to get the halftrack to get in range, but one granade from above and it was over. These were veteran infantry squads, and halftracks. The settings were as follows: village, moderate trees, small hills, day, clear, march 1945. I will allow you to draw your own conclusions. 8. Thanks for the results, and the great pics! Armornut
  9. Doug, I have no idea who you are, but I would like to play a PBEM game. I have very few right now and think it would be fun to get my butt kicked by an old-timer, Just send me a QB, Armornut
  10. I am not really a big fan of it for 2 reasons: 1)It is an open top turret, therefore is is really open to any kind of mortar(provided a lucky shot). 2) Two words: Shot Trap. I have lost a few of these guys to veteran German tankers because they hit the dam shot trap on the first shot. It takes them longer to get the shot off, but they kill it most of the time. I Found in a test I ran that Pz IV/70's and Stugs that are veteran will wait on average 2-3 more seconds to get the shot, where regular tank crew will shoot at first site, and miss most of the time. I tested this twice to find simular results in both tests. These were German tankers that were sitting still as a tank entered there line of sight. The only negitive that I found was that if they take too long to shoot it can kill them. In the two tests the stugs were the most likly to suffer from that (2 out of 6). I did not run the test on allied tank crews and I did not see if the above held true when the greman tanks moved into the veiw of a stationary Allied tanks. Just my two cents Armornut [This message has been edited by armornut (edited 02-12-2001).]
  11. Looks great! Maybe the mod I have been looking for, since I have been waiting to get scenery! Now lets hope he completes it! Armornut
  12. What about a KV 3? I got the following information from Red Steel (http://www.algonet.se/~toriert) In late 1940/41 two prototypes were built, armed with a 85mm F-30 gun and three 7,62mm DT machine guns. Ammo load was 91 x 85mm rounds and 4.032 rounds for the MGs. It was equipped with a V-12 engine, providing 850 hp. It had a total weight of 63.000kg and its maximum speed was 33km/h. Or maybe a PT-1? (Again thanks to Red Steel for the information) In 1932, N. Astrov and N. Tsiets completed a prototype of the PT-1 (Plavayushia Tank-1, Amphib Tank-1). The PT-1 was basically an enlarged BT tank hull, large enough to provide enough buoyancy which permitted the tank to float. A propeller was fitted under the hull, and a large rudder was provided for steering. Trials with the PT-1 totalled two years and there was so many problems that it was decided to develop an improved type, the PT-1A. The PT-1A could be distinguished from the early PT-1 by the lack of a side turret and different tracks. None of the prototypes had their armament fitted during trials. The project was considered to be too complicated to enter mass-production and it was dropped. However, a small production run of the PT-1A was completed to permit trials with amphib tanks. Just my two tracks, Armornut
  13. For what it is worth, I have had a few Fireflys that would not use Tungsten rounds against Hetzers. It has not been tested, just a moment that sticks out in my mind. He fired a total of 6 shots and no tungsten rounds were used. The range was around 700m. The first two were side shots that missed, then one upper-hull hit, a miss, and then a lower-hull penitration with only one killed. I just chalked it up to having a regular crew. Just my 2 cents, Armornut
  14. Tiger your mods are great, they make the game much more interesting to me, as well as add a level of depth to my gaming experiance. Thank you for your time and effort, Armornut

  16. Below are a list of links to RC model web sities: #1 has a great 1/6 Tiger, that is RC. #2 is a 1/6 stuart, very nice #3 is information on more sites http://www.interdacom.ru/~tanks/ http://www.geocities.com/pentagon/fort/2011 http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Quarters/5736/index.html These are NOT the little shermans from radio shack. They are expensive, but worth every penny to watch the look on the cat's and dog's faces! If any one want more I have a few more sites. Armornut
  17. If you are still looking for some people, I would love to try it! Armornut@aol.com
  18. Hey guys and gal, My soon to be wife is a CM nut! She plays me in hotseat games and does very well for a person who knows nothing about the forces she is working with. The best thing is I took a look at her favorites list, and there are CM sites. She has been researching what the best equipment is to use in given situations. When I asked why she did not ask me about that, she said she wanted to surprise me with as hard attack that would kick my butt! I have tried to get her to play on line, but she said she is not ready. She has already beat up the Computer on most of the quick battles she has tried. So look out guys in a few months there may be another female CM player:)! Armornut Justin
  19. That is great! That would add a whole new demension to the game! Justin
  20. That is great! Bet it is the first glow in the dark tank! :eek Juatin
  21. Could it be that the Tank you hit and killed was one that had shells impact it (maybe mortor shell, antipersonel mine)? If so, then that may have made it easier for the shell to go in. When a tank takes a hit, and keeps going, there may be a weak point that is created by the impact of a non-penitrating shell. Justin
