Hagen, have you seen the screenshots from HAD expansion pack? I saw them in PC gamer, and boy, it really took my breath away for a while...They're the best WW2 graphics I have ever seen. The vehicles particularly look superb. If only a wargame could combine realism and good gameplay with that kind of graphics then I guess we'd be pretty close to (war)gaming nirvana But hey, dreaming won't get us anywhere so I'll just shut up

Zulu, how much did BTS pay you to write this stuff? I must agree with all points made there, except maybe the graphics. Oh well, you can't have everything, I know...

Sorry chaps, just thought realism was more important than humour in this game. For me at least. I fully understand your point of view and apologise for offending you when I didn't want to.

Fionn, I'm glad you have a new list of names as the current one is a complete joke, I think(and don't forget the not so "german sounding" family names). Hitler, Himmler, Remarque,etc. Well, they have all been covered in other threads I guess...And I hope they have all been removed, too.

tgra, I watched the episode on Stalingrad and found it to be very interesting(I taped it). However the Winter Campaign of 42-43 wasn't covered...Maybe it was in the next episode? If yes, what did they say about it? BTW, weren't there only 3 episodes(Barbarossa, Stalingrad, and the Russian offensives)? My favourite WW2 documentary is still "World At War", though.

Thanks for all the sites. Unfortunately reinacting seems quite out of the question for me as I live in London, UK...:-( I guess I can only reinact WW2 battles on my computer... Which is good enough anyway(hey, we didn't even have that possibility 10 years ago:)

1.) "Panzer Commander", von Luck. 2.) "Lost Victories", von Manstein. 3.) "Panzer Leader", Guderian(hence my nickname:) They are all excellent accounts of WW2 from the other side of the hill, with tremendous insight.

Ssnake, I don't want to be too pernickety but the Wehrmacht's generals probably didn't bother too much about where to place two Machine guns:)...That's really more a lieutenant's job. In fact some bold generals and field marshals DID contest Hitler's orders, but he often sacked them for "pessimism". Halder, who pointed out the dangerous situation on the Volga in November 1942 was immediately replaced by Zeitzler; another example is FM Erich von Manstein who kept on arguing Hitler's decisions for almost 4 years...Then Hitler got bored and sacked him:) The same thing happened to Guderian and to many other brilliant thinkers in the Wehrmacht. Without Hitler's silly decisions Germany may have won the war...who knows?
