British 3in mortars can kickass as long as your opponents keeps their AFV's still. I've KO'd a Jagdpanther, Stugs and I think Pz IV's, try it on a custom setup!

When you have a lot of units in the field . . .

Well I can't handle it vs the AI and lose interest in the game quickly. But! vs a human opponent I love everything about the game It helps learning the plotting shortcuts like right clicks and space bar editing of waypoints. -

I am preparing an operation for use with 2 teams on the Rugged defence ladder and really need this question resolved. The operation game type has been set to 'destroy', it then opens up a box that says 'attack/defence ratio', I set the ratio to 100%. What I am hoping for is a fair game where the side that destroys the most enemy wins. Does anyone know if this is how this setting works? Or does it mean the attacker scores on how much of that percentage they destroy regardless of their own losses? I have lost my CM manual so can not get details of this parameter, we will be starting this game soon so I do need to let our opponents know the situation, any help is much appreciated. Could somebody write a simple campaign game?
Lah replied to pritzl's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Campaign cartographer 2 is what you need: http://www.profantasy.com/ It's a bit pricey and aimed at fantasy but you can make hex maps easily. It also has 'layers' that you can place and move troops units on. I am working on a campaign game that may be used on the rugged defence teams ladder. If you would like to join a team there pick one of the higher teams that are still active. http://home.primus.com.au/chasb/rdcm/ladder2.htm LAH UK-The Light brigade -
Thanks for the info, last time I take my lads off the map then.

I was wondering if it is wise to move crews off map? I usually hide them out of harms way but sometimes there's gun hit AFV's as well which I do not want to lose. So is there a negitive effect on global morale or points loss for retreating forces off map?

I often replace platoon PHQ's with better command CHQ's, then use the PHQ for mortar spotting or other work.

Wha's the file name of the damn exit BOOM!?
Lah replied to Lah's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Thank you Manx, now I can cure the post CM twitch -
Please someone tell me so I can change it to something nicer like birds tweeting, anything but the BOOM!

It's worth reminding people, those of us who have lots of games going can sometimes lose track of who's turn it is. You could both be waiting for each other to send files.

The gamey Jeep rush may not be so gamey after all...
Lah replied to Maximus's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I have a copy of 'Firefly' tabletop wargames rules. In their army lists for US forces are numerous platoons of 6 x Jeep MG's availabe for recon. -
Simplest way is to knock the building down first if possible.

Please take a look at my site and the 'battles' available there. http://combatready.homestead.com/combatready.html I am not really sure if my battles will appeal to Combat mission PBEM gamers, so would appreciate some feedback about if it's worth continuing with this idea.

Are snipers good for anything...?
Lah replied to ElGuapo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
..and always get them veteran or the highest level possible. -
That sounds odd Michael, I have no problems editing them from the saved games folder. You are only frozen out if you 'tournement save' them after editing.

Best used supporting your tanks, they can really make a difference by making the enemy tank 'button up', and often not spotting your tank hunting it. -
To play by e-mail take a look in the opponent finder forum on this site. If you like playing against the computer just wait till you play people To get games in your scenario listing copy them to your saved games file. Most of the files come 'zipped' so I hope you know about all that. There's loads of sites with scenarios to download, but get playing by mail soon as
