  1. So... what is the chance that the game will ship in the states a day early as well? please. pretty please.
  2. Poospeak: Twice? Nay.. Thrice. And I'm no longer bumping "crap". I'm bumping "Poo".
  3. originally posted by Poo. Just saw the other thread. Allow me to recant my former statement. Tit for tat, and all that. Bash away, jugheads.
  4. Oh. Now I see what caused that other obnoxious thread. I guess I'll have to go retract my statement there and just ignore these sideshows.
  5. Ah, yet another thread filled with witless American-bashing jibes poorly disguised as humor. Let's be honest now. Anyone residing in a country which owes it's sovereignty or very existence to actions performed by this great nation in and immediately after the greatest conflict of the 20th century... raise your hand. Or, simply continue to veil your general dislike for the average American with shoddily contrived humor. My apologies, that should read "humour". Can we drop this crap now or must we continue to rehash it every two weeks?
  6. Not sure whre these may be anymore. Anyone? [ September 16, 2002, 05:37 AM: Message edited by: Clubfoot ]
  7. Glad to see this come to fruition, Mike. I'm off to check it out. And since CMBB will so much more conducive to wide-open terrain combat... maybe we'll have to see what we can do about revamping that ol' desert schtuff.
  8. I'm tellin' ya... don't get your hopes up, fellas. The final version will be considered a different version than the demo. Some folks put themselves through this self-inflicted torture last time. If you're anticipating this: ... all you're gonna get is this:
  9. wwb is correct. The demo will work with the scenarios included only.
  10. I can't speak for other sites, but Der Kessel is 'ramping up' for CMBB release. Many members of Die Sturmgruppe are beta-testers and their time has been consumed by that. The rest of us realize that spending our time in the creation of content for CMBO would result in a pile of work that would go for the most part unnoticed. Our eyes are turned eastward. When finally the Godless Communist hordes butt heads with the heartless Nazi war machine, THAT you'll see plenty of activity for. And as someone has already stated, previews and the like are already covered more than adequately right here.

  12. No, he's not. Because he doesn't agree with you does not not mean he's missed the point. In fact, I think he's seen through this falsely-stated concern by third parties over how BTS's demo decisions will affect their future stake in the gaming industry. "Well, er, um, I liked the demo just fine, but my concern is for BTS's profits and ability to bring in new players from other markets, and, uh, ya know, more, bigger, better just might do it." Crap. You want more for free. Why anyone here should be concerned for BTS's profit margins is so far beyond me that it smells of whitewash. As my dear ol' dad would put it, "Y'all got a rabid case of the gimme's".
  13. Am I the only person who believes that the Yelnia Stare scenario is evenly balanced? Did nobody else get brutalized by the German AI the first time through? Judging by the number of misguided "Soviet infantry sucks" threads, I'd say there were more than a few. Conversely, was there nobody else who managed to keep the AI Soviets at bay for the short 25 minute duration? As for Schwerpunkt, did nobody else lose enough tanks to the Soviet AI that they only pulled off a draw or tactical victory the first time through? And again, conversely, was nobody else able to keep the AI Germans from taking the flags in their 40 minute timeframe? Perhaps some should pay heed to a fact that is evident to most scenario designers. If you stomp the guts out of the AI on your first run through, the scenario probably isn't balanced. That may be somebody's idea of a good time, but I'm not sure who. And if you absolutely crush the AI on your 3rd or 4th attempt, it doesn't make the scenario too easy. Napoleon could have crushed Wellington on his 3rd or 4th try too. Both scenarios are well-balanced and representative of typical fighting conditions in their respective locales/times. Both scenarios demonstrate engine upgrades swimmingly. I'm glad all the new features and geegaws are not present in the demo. It's ok that there are only two scenarios to chew on. Why? Because I want my cherry popped by the full release. The demo is just heavy petting, fellas.
  14. I can't believe this piece of crap is still here. Lock it or move it for Christ's sake. Let these jug-headed gimps with American penis envy spew their tripe on the general forum. Please. HI MOM already. sheesh.

  16. 80741! WOOHOOOOO!!! Ordered the bundle pack. Can't beat another copy of CMBO w/ manual for a paltry 15 additional dollars!
  17. After bailing from their swiss-cheesy PzIII, an ALERTED crew made their way across about 100m of open ground under fire to take refuge (of sorts) in a patch of rough terrain. Once their heads were down, the incoming Maxim fire died down and the crew was shortly READY. Throughout the remainder of the scenario, this crew would pop their heads up and put small arms fire on various intact, enemy weapon crews moving through the area to escape my tank push opposite their position. By the end of the scenario, the tank crew had taken no further casualties and had used their advantageous location to inflict 9 infantry casualties on wayward enemy weapon crews! Here's to bailed crews that not only protect themselves, but pro-actively cause additional casualties to the enemy when their situation permits it. This may have been the case in CMBO as well but may have been missed due to the lack of complete casualty data at the end of a scenario. But I doubt it.
  18. No worries there. The Italians didn't exactly fight against the Germans at the Gran Sasso either.
  19. This is done. Look for it imminently at the Scenario Depot.
  20. Play the map through several times yourself and determine the minimum amount of time it takes for you to reach the positions where these fresh Germans would be. Once you have a good feel of this span, set the fresh Axis troops to enter as reinforcements at their intended defensive positions. A number of factors can help nudge the AI or keep it in place. Fiddling with the friendly sides of the map, clever placement of flags, making troops exhausted at the outset, their experience level and whether you set them to hide in setup... and so on. It may help to make the Germans of relatively high experience level, set them to hide in the editor, and padlock them. This often convinces the AI not to move. Experiment, experiment, experiment.
  21. Ryan, I've been trying to retool this map to bend the AI to my will. If I have success I'll release it. If not, then I won't. I'm quite fond of the map though, so I'll give the ol' college try. Axe, This is an old, old thread. To my knowledge, those pics don't exist anymore. Ryan was referring to the glimpses he got when they were still up. Sorry 'bout that.
  22. originally posted by ASLVeteran And I would contend that a few individuals contesting a fact does not make that fact "in dispute", it simply makes it's detractors incorrect. And I repeat: You can indeed spot minefields without stumbling through them. Run some tests.
  23. You certainly can detect minefields without stumbling through them. Run some tests.
  24. Ryan, Yeah, you know how it goes. The ol' insperado starts to flag and we move on to what we think will be greener pastures only to find ourselves terribly homesick. Regardless of my intentions to move along, that fat CM magnet always pulls me back. I just can't get this damned game out of my system and probably never will. Expect to see Polish Sausage in your in-box this weekend. You'll be the first to get it. Dook, Mistakes noted and corrected. Thanks for the heads-up! I completely understand pet peeves associated with the misuse of the English language. I'm surprised you didn't hammer me for beginning a sentence with "And". My tone was conversational, however, so that may have been quibbling. "It's" however was just your good eye. Thanks.
  25. While waiting with bells on for the partisan actions that CMBB promises and I intend to flood Der Kessel with (or try), I took a walk down memory lane and came across Otto and the boys. Their new adventure, 'Polish Sausage', will be available soon at the depot. Like the Commando Skorzeny scenarios before it, this one is intended to be played Single Player as the Germans. After being tested to the nth degree, it's about ready. Here's a look at the general briefing: Size: Medium (toward the smallish side). Type: single player commando raid. Location: just north of Trier am Mosel. Weather: chilly with a soupy fog. Ground condition: damp. Length: 32 turns. (NOTE: This scenario is for single player play only with the AI in the role of the Allied Polish troops. The AI should be set to "stick to scenario default" in setup. Victory flags should be turned OFF. They're intended to influence the AI, not determine victory.) Before we begin, it should be noted that this scenario is ENTIRELY fictional. The action afforded by this scenario is intended to evoke a 'war movie' feel, as opposed to any serious attempt at recreating an ultra-realistic battlefield environment. End Disclaimer. After a three day bivouac in a black, damp wood north of Trier, a line of a hundred plus figures crouched silently just inside the treeline of a tract fronted by this or that small hamlet. While on-site, these grizzled and scarred veterans of the shadowy Commando Skorzeny had observed everything of the village's comings, goings, and patterns of activity. The sentry posts, the watch commander's stations, the infantry company doing garrison duty, the refurbishment garage and its stable of AT guns, the pair of L/L Sherman V's... all scrutinized for days by the intrepid Germans. This morning saw the arrival of the prize. Three battalion level Polish officer cadre's had rolled quietly into the sleepy burg just after 3 A.M. for a micro-summit of sorts. Shortly thereafter the town had been set abustle. Polish security teams had scouted their immediate perimeters, albeit with little enthusiasm or serious consideration of any threat. Vehicles had cruised the access roads, half-heartedly sweeping search-lights through the blanket of fog in the general direction of this clump of trees or that wall of shadow. And after a time, the pace had slowed again. The sentries back at their posts, the tanks back to the motor pool, the infantrymen tucked back into their bunks, and the big-wigs, their meeting brought to order, hatching their schemes. The Poles were, after all, "in the rear with the gear" with the nearest massed German threat many leagues to the east and reportedly in full retreat. In this quaint little village, their strategic plans could be mulled over in... safety. From the trees, through the soup of fog and oh so quietly came the desperate wrath of a Reich in its death throes. 'Polish Sausage' by Clubfoot. clubfoot@derkessel.de Do it at Der Kessel.
