  1. I paid btw only cause I was forced like apple forced music companies to sell to their itunes or not sell at all.

The issue is you overblow the importance of you're efforts - then scream when anybody not a fanbouy, complain about your justifications for blackmail.

The people who developed CMANO will be patching for free and if there is and expansion it might be adding a full blown land combat and that would be a expansion.

The thing is you already did 3 times. So I know you are just milking the teat for all it's worth just cop to it and get over the melodrama justifications.

Wow! So don't pay the 10 bucks? Seems easy to do.

  2. I'm talking about the tank that has been hit (or almost hit) and pops smoke.

SOP would be for the tank to pop the smoke and move (usually backing up) immediately, vacating the spot where the enemy knows him to be. Otherwise there's no point to using smoke at all, as it obviously provides zero cover. A good enemy gunner might be able to fire off another round in five or ten seconds, but an average tank driver can pull out in less time than that.

The AI not firing at the now-obscured last-known location reflects the gunner's assumption that, since the target popped smoke, he has displaced and is no longer in that location.

    I agree with this explanation.

Not sure that I see a problem with current approach. WG, do you have a test case and can you repeat it? It would be helpful for the discussion and might point out an area of improvement or it might not.

I would be concerned about wasting precious tank rounds when the gunner isn't sure of his target. Especially on the eastern front.

  3. I have all of the CMx2 products. I'm done - I would sell all at a loss just to get out from the crap.

I'm not going to pay for patches anymore that should be free.

I buy expensive wargames from Matrix. Never paid for any improvements to the game. They still patch WitP AE.

Why should I pay for yours.

Great game ruined by poor marketing and charging for piddly patches instead of an actual expansion pack.

Get it all in one package and sell it for one price - otherwise take me off the mailing list.

    Uncle Leo?

    Pass the dutchie dude!

  4. Obviously, every utterly brilliant idea has toothing issues lol.

It has been mentioned b4 that cardboard game developers have long floated game concepts and solicited pre-orders to decide which concept to actually develop.

Their customers have to commit to paying via CC for a new game that they "voted on". However, their CC's are not charged unless the game is actually produced and shipped. That way the company already knows it has a revenue of "x" before committing to a particular game.

In my experience, these cardboard game companies have less resources than even BFC. But, it appears to be a successful model. Of course, it costs a LOT more to develop any computer software and hence a potential flaw.

But, I wuz thinking that this way we could reduce by 90%+ the arguments etc on these forums re what BFC should be doing next. (Although, maybe that's part of the game's entertainment value... Hmm.)

Multi Man publishing (the post AH ASL guys) do this but only before a print run. In other words before they incur costs other than their time. A bit different than CM.

Historically, it appears all the good ideas get on a list and that list gets worked on eventually. Patience has paid off the last 15 years of following BTS and BFC. Good stuff is coming maybe not as we would like or maybe faster than some of us can play through all the games.

  5. Umm wait a minute, aren't you the guy trying to get BF to discount stuff? Don't mean to be embarrassing or anything but as Alanis might say "isn't it ironic?"

Alanis? Who is dat? You pulling out those ancient rock references? Wow!

Next thing we will see a post about LPs with lyrics and wait there it is!

    Whoa!

    Bobo

Ps agree with you comment but was shocked by the post grunge rock reference.

  6. "It's a game dude! Play how you like."

    I completely agree.

If you actually read the thread you would understand I was commenting on kuri's point re: "...having similar limitations as i would have in real life is appealing..." and pointing out that playing RT and pausing whenever you want is the same as removing all limitations.

Of course you can play any way you want.

You are correct sir! I should have quotes kuri instead.

    Apologies.

    Posting a lot more.

Read? I ain't got time to read... What movie is that sort of from? Anyone?

  8. Unfortunately RT rewind is not going to happen any time soon, though due to the desirability to have it I'm not going to say "never". Even if Charles tells me "never" I'll keep checking as we go along.

Adjusting WeGo turn time isn't something we're interested in monkeying around with. It also doesn't do anything for RT so no relief that way either.

    Steve

So. You are saying there's a chance?

This would be awesome on so many levels. Even a 10 second buffer would be enough.

When we get this in 2020 I am going to pay the $10 upgrade fee for it.

  9. Obviously some folks really enjoy RT. But given that CM2 is supposed to lean towards being a "realistic" sim rather than a wrist twitcher how can a serious sim player justify stopping time every time something happens and instantly changing the orders for every unit on the map - a capability that even the most modern hi-tech military cannot do.

I concede that if you can play thru an entire scenario without any pauses, that would be somewhat realistic cos one only would have time to give orders to very few units in one area of the battlefield while one would have no idea what was going on elsewhere.

I can also see that RT being practical if you only had about one platoon in one area.

But, if you play RT and pause, RT becomes much, much easier than WEGO.

What I like about CM2 is that it is starting to enable larger maps and scenarios with battalion sized battlegroups.

Bobby! What in the heck are you talking about?

How is stopping every minute realistic? It's a game dude! Play how you like. Real Time, WEGO, against the AI, against players worse than you. Whatever.

  10. I went to the standard mode but for some reason I have not immersed myself into this game like I did when I received the cmbb game. I also have Normandy but for some reason I choose not to play. Something is just missing with the game and I can't pin it down. I liked the LOS tool in CMBB but it's not as easy to do it on these games, unless I am missing something.

Use Target. It has LOS indicators built in.

I found the same missing quality in reverse once I started playing CMx2 games. Could not go back to CMBB or CMAK.

    YMMV.

  11. PBEM and other multiplayer modes require fixed schedule and decent amount time. So, it's not really an alternative for casual games that I can play whenever I have time.

Though I am member of CM multiplayer club, it'd still be nice to have AI even on level of CMx1.

Depends what you are looking for. I was mostly joking that QBs with player pick don't guarantee choices any better than the random generator.

PBEM is a slower pace but scheduling should not be the problem. Get 5-10 PBEMs going and see if that fills your needs.

  12. I noticed that when I use the RTS mode, page 12 that the menus come up on the screen which is nice and I don't have to use the keyboard. The standard mode doesn't allow you to have the menus on the screen? Sort of like CM1? I still ended up using the keyboard I have to figure out what I like best.

I sort of liked the way we had it in cm1.

By the way, do you guys keep any of the aides on the screen like movement arrows etc?

Steve mentioned they might add the right click menu to the standard camera when I mentioned it after RT was released. That would be awesome.

Have you tried FPS camera? Made me dizzy. Others love it.

    Thanks,

    Bobo

  13. Come on in. Plenty of cheese!

Things I bought instead of upgrade 3.0 today.

Please keep your whining on one thread or better yet...... Don't whine!
