  1. As far as I know unit selection has no baring on hearing the screams and the like. Besides being an audible enchancment to the game these screams were always telltale sounds when firing or droping arty on suspected positions of the enemy. If you heard a few screams but didn't see any soldiers you atleast knew you were aiming in the right direction. Mord.
  2. Yes I was hearing the zinging of the bullets and the Pfft Pfft noises of them hitiing the ground. I was even picking up the sounds of the bullets pelting metal when the germans shot up a Russian AFV. Every sound was coming through but the screams and shouts and a minimal amount of talking/order giving. I will search for a new driver and post back what I find. Thanks everybody for replying. Mord.
  3. I am using Sound Blaster Live DE 5.1. I have it set for two speakers. I am getting gunfire sounds and explosions loud and clear just no screams when men are hit or a unit is wiped out. It's bizarre because in CM the screams and shouts and what not were very vibrant and constant when the fire fights got hot and heavy. I had brought up, in an earlier thread wheather or not these elements had been left out of CMBB because it was very noticible. Kinda like how silence can be deafening. I'd like if someone with a US version could try a quick test and someone with the Euroversion, could try also and compare. I have the scenario file ready. Just click go and the soldiers do all the work. Mord. mord
  4. That could be so but CMBO never had an issue with it. I just tried again, the casaulties were 108 Germans, 27 Soviets, and this time not one scream. A few more voices though in the last turn. Would somebody like to try this test scenario to see if they hear any? Mord. [ January 20, 2003, 07:37 PM: Message edited by: Mord ]
  5. I'd say within' three turns atleast 25 to 30 casualties were taken between the two sides. I watched for three turns, which I replayed quite a bit. I also started this test scenario over three times, quitting and rechoosing it from the scenario screen. Each and everytime I was at ground level moving here and there listening. out of 27 turns spaced over three new startups I heard one scream. I am at a loss for why. Mord.
  6. I did a test today to see if I just hadn't been paying attention when it came to the sounds of battle in CMBB. I set up a small battle that had the two opposing forces facing eachother at the outset, just yards away so as to get the action going right off. I zoomed right in to ground level and listened for the impending carnage. While there were tons of gunshots and grenade explosions I heard very few phrases from either side. Out of the hundred or so combatants annihilating eachother I heard one scream through the three turns I watched. I replayed these turns many times watching and listening from different angles and there basically was nothing but gunshots to be heard. It may sound funny but this detracts from my immersion in the game, it almost sounds empty without all the soldiers screaming and hollaring and shouting commands. These added so much to CM and seem to be vacant in CMBB. I love the game don't get me wrong just wondering why the sound is lacking. Is it just my copy or has anyone else noticed this. I am playing the European version by the way if that means anything. I'll send the test battle if anyone would like to check it out themselves. Mord.
  7. Bo check to see if the bmps are named with more than the numbers used for winter uniform textures. There could be an exstension added, say like this; 140000winterherr, that will keep the game from reading the bmp. Mord.
  8. Hi Ed. Nice work buddy! Are there winter textures for the pine trees? I haven't noticed any snow covered pines in the game, or found any mods. Anyone know? Again great work Ed. You have definately found your forte I think. Mord
  9. Thanks Coyote! been trying to find this on my own for almost a week now. Ask and you shall receive! I appreciate it. Mord.
  10. Gunslinger's True Color Mod? All The links in the past discussions on it are dead. My email is my profile. Appreciate any help. Mord. [ January 17, 2003, 06:28 PM: Message edited by: Mord ]
  11. Ok did a search for the Gunslinger mod, got all the info but where do I DL it? The links are no good. Mord
  12. Ellros I hadn't planned on buying CM2 for maybe another couple months, when I ran into it at Comp USA I couldn't resist the temptation. I didn't relize it was the Euroversion at the time. Maybe BFC will trade me for the US version. Thanks guys for clearing up the sewer thing. I thought it was something you put on the map yourself in the editor. I get it now. Anybody have any idea about the Gunslinger Mod? Mord.
  13. I had a map set for November 41, dusk, light snow, air temp was cool and another time, set at cold, I heard crickets chirping in the background. Anybody else notice this? Russian crickets aren't that tough are they? Is this maybe a glitch? #2 I haven't noticed any screams during battle were these taken out? If not can someone give me the Wav file numbers? #3 Anybody have any info on Gunslinger's Real Color Mod? I came across a patch for it at the Mod database and was wondering what it was. there is nothing else there but the patch as far as I could find. #4 I also saw a mod for a zigzag trench. Is this in the game or is it a mod that replaces something else? I have the European version that I found at Comp USA Saterday. I installed it twice and got error messages both times. I was wondering if maybe somethings were left out during the install. I have yet to see anything to do with sewers also. Appreciate any enlightenment. Mord.
  14. Thanks for the info again Schrull. I goofed up when I bought the switch, lol because I had switch in my head as far as the router went and. Though the guy I talked to said it would work. I have gotten past the error message above but now am having a problem getting a ping from the net. Thanks again. Mord.
  15. I am stuck with the switch for tonight is there anything I can do with it to make it work?
  16. I bought a switch, and I just read that this will probably not help me as far as sharing an IP? So I need to take it back and get a Router?
  17. Hi guys. I got everything hooked up but when I try and run Road Runner on my comp during the install I get this error message. Tcp/IP Networking Error There is one network adapter in the system and it is configured for DHCP but it is unable to release/renew IP Address. Ok does anybody know what the hell this means and how to rectify it. I have checked everything I can and can't figure it out. Both ethernet cards are running without an conflicts, modem is working correctly for host computer, and the switch I bought is reading all connections to it. Please any help would be great!! Thanks Mord. P.s I will be refreshing my ass off waiting so if there are any questions I will answer promptly. [ July 20, 2002, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: Mord ]
  18. Hey, cool, thanks Schrull. Yeah, the modem is external. So I will need what at the minimum for inputs on the router 3? And from what I gathered make sure there is a switch on it and that it has NAT? I am hoping there will be a minimum amount of setup as far as software, and messing around in windows goes. I am not interested in sharing files and printers with the other computer just the NET. Ok hopefully I can figure this out now. Mord. P.S please if there is anything else I should know post quickly I am heading out in about 15 minutes.
  19. Ok I have been to a couple internet sites now reading up on networking these cable modems and am getting confused. How many ethernet cards do I need for the two computers? One site is saying I need three. Two for the host computer and one for the computer that is being setup to share the connection. I was assuming I only needed two all together so now I am scratching my head. I am heading out to the store in a short while and need to know exactly what I need to buy. One comp is completely setup and on the net via cable. What do I need for the second comp? Ethernet card (only 1 I hope), Router, and ethernet line? Is that all I need? Mord. 20. Thanks WWB. I am hoping that the NICs are the samething as the Ethernet cards. Is this correct? If so then all I need to buy is one more ethernet card, the router and the ethernet line long enough to reach between the two computers. Mord.
  21. Thanks for the Info Gyrene. Couple more questions now. What does NIC stand for, just so I know if I have them already or not? And How many inputs will I need on the router 2 or more? I am running a PC btw will that make any difference with the above instructions? I tried getting some help at Staples when I was pricing the routers and Netcards but didn't get too many clear answers and the guy even had Roadrunner. One last question. Will the second computer travel fast on the net when the other computer is not on at the same time? I mean the routing process won't have any effect on the bit rate will it? Thanks, Mord.
  22. Ok we just got a Roadrunner cable connection here. we have two computers. One has the cable modem setup and the other doesn't. I want to network the modems so the second computer can take advantage of the faster internet connection. I know I will need some coaxial cable, splitters for the cable, T10 line or something of that sort,(can't remember the name at the moment), with the appropriate connectors on the ends, and an ethernet card. But do I need a hub or can I use the cheaper router? Or (Gasp!) do I need both? Usually i can think my way around this kinda thing but until Wensday I had never even spied a cable modem. I did find out that I just can't patch into the cable with my own cable modem and ethernet card because the modem's address has to be registered with the service provider for it to work. Or so that is what they told me. So any advice or answers would be very appreciated. Schrullenhaft you out there? LOL. Mord. [ July 20, 2002, 01:30 PM: Message edited by: Mord ]
