  1. If you can Bob let me know if you can still attend the tournament we are hosting. Thnx Johnno Dogs of War http://persweb.direct.ca/johnnocm
  2. Sorry for the multiple posts earlier, I did not do it on purpose and it wasn't also to bump up the topic. I actually feel quite foolish about it and apologize. Thanks also for the response JuJu. I have played both sides and won but is defiantely harder with the Brit's I think once I fine tune the forces, adding more artillery to Brits and more infantry for the germans it will be hust right. I'm also going to extend the river and ad more to the British side of the river for size and cover. Johnno

  7. Thanks for the input guys and trying my operation. SteveS, the most frustrating part that I see in making a Operation in Combat Mission is the next days "No Man's Land." I set it in this operation to be 80m, the lowest, assuming that the next battle you would hold almost all the territory you took, but this still isn't so. Bigmac (my PBEM friend) and I are playing this operation (playtesting) and I like it but the "No mans land pushed him way back the second battle. He's Allie and I am Axis Attacker, is it because I'm the attacker that he was pushed back because set at 80m he was pushed back about 500m instead? Some input on this would be appreciated, if another scenario designer comes by I'd love some input on this as well. CMHQ gave the operation a 3 star rating, I'm not happy with this, however I think it's fair. Currently I am redesigning the operation and considering SteveS's suggestion as per operation vs battle. However I do like the different parts of the day (i.e battle starts at night) that can't be modeled with a battle but can with a operation. Oh and another note, I will be re-doing the units as I believe it would be wiser to have the Allies with more artillery. I do however like the Axis with what they have now, even though it's a bit heavy. The 210mm rockets are nasty and the inaccuracy of them make it interesting when you do a strike with them. By the way guys, my stupid website is down, not my fault, my provider sucks, it'll be up later today I guess. Johnno Visit my website (When it comes back online.) 8. I realize that there are now tons of scenarios out there but I put a lot of work into this operation called St.Athan which is a fictional meeting engagement that happens just prior to Operation Goodwood. Would anyone like to try it, or has anyone tried it as it is on CMHQ? I have it for download at the link provided below if you are interested. Keep in mind that I am just about to totally redo the map and tweak the forces. I'd appreciate anyones input. I am playing it with a PBEM partner right now and it's fun and lots of action however additions to the already existing terrain would be make it better I believe. http://persweb.direct.ca/johnnocm/scen.htm Johnno
  9. I've been working on these webpages that give all unit statistics it's still under construction but I'd appreciate some constructive views from CM players whether they might find it useful. I've supplied a link, it's the homepage, go to Unit Stats from there. The webpages are broken into 4 sections, Infantry, Heavy Support, Vehicles and Tanks, although with all the statistics on tanks it looks like I will make three pages alone on tanks. One for German, one for American and the other for Commonwealth and Polish armor. Hope someone finds it useful, and if it gains more traffic to my online members club then that would be great. 13. The Dogs of War website is actually a online players club and is growing at about 2 members a day. I send out a weekly newsletter to all members and update the website daily. Players are categorized 'Hardcore' or 'Casual' which helps if it bothers you when you have to wait 2-5 days for that opponent to respond to your last turn sent. I have looked at all the other guys websites and like them and as well, in fact i'm a member on a few of them. However, on my website I'm trying to get everyone together like a nice little soldier community to kick the h*ll out of each other in online play. 16. I went to the website, bookmarked it but gave it little regard. I wanted to see some screenshots but they wouldn't load at all. Actually I don't want anyone to burst, my, let's call it Combat Mission Bubble. If they make a better game soon I don't care I'm having to much fun with CM to care. I mean after waiting forever for Diablo2 and Shogun :Total War, buying them playing them and then buying Combat Mission; well let's just say that those 2 beforte mentioned game choices are Brewski coaster material. Combat Mission has incredible replayabilty and I intend to us it for just that. I hope other will join me in this...well Combat Mission... 18. Have to agree with Maximus first reply to you there HijackGMH, sorry but that detail I noticed in the first of about 30 times I played demo waiting for my full version copy in the mail. Personally though I just discovered something I never knew about though for Fighter-Bombers. You can hear the planes coming prior to the first turn they show...so you can hide your Armor or anything that is in the open. Also, I think a lot of CM gamers will agree, a real not-cool sound; when you're watching your tank and a artillery round smashes nearby and crrrrriiiicccc, immobile! I despise that tank tread sound (I mean I like it when it's my opponant but hate it when it's me.) 19. I withdraw my previous comment. I wasn't lying though, I forgot the command was there. After seeing this 'thread' here though I would try a few AI QB's and give the 'withdraw' command a workout. Thinking of what a good battle would be I said hey "Let's play Paratroops on Parade." Now as a word of advice try this scenario out it is great! In the battle I tried the 'withdraw' command several times and was really surprised how good it is in getting those sorry ass germans troops out of the line of fire and back into the woods for a saurerkraut with wienerschnitzel and brewski break. All kidding aside though, I believe that this thread may have helped my game some due to the lack of me giving this 'withdraw' command a good try. Thanks coralsaw for starting this thread, as for the realism factor...well those questions are just getting old. You can't always think of the game and it's action as linear (is that the right context?) i.e. you see 3 men on the map but it is representing 12. It's a reasonable question though. I just figure the sarge says "RUN!" and they run. If he was saying "okay you go there, you go there, you go there and you go there." So Private Gumpynuts says "wait where was I supposed to go?" So Sarge has to slap him upside the head and tell him to pay attention and start all over. So you can see why time has a factor in a move but a withdraw command is pretty well 'straight-forward.' 20. They look nice, I like the sky the way it is now but the first one looks really great I might switch. Regardless, Der Unbekannte Jäger, go ahead on it as lots of these Mod sluts online would jump on it right away.
