  6. That is a very good point, if I want to do some studying I should use the town library. We have a very good library at the college in my town also. 7. I thought a link was in my profile sig. but I forgot to put it there. I'll do a search today of Xanten, I'm not about to buy books and maps to make a scenario but I'll certainly look for a book from C.P Stacey next time I go to the bookstore. I live on the westcoast of Canada near Vancouver how about you guys? Re/ the scenario I already have it pretty much underway and did a test last night and it's quite fun. I'd just like to better model some of the terrain and the situtaion for the briefing and storyline. JohnnoDogs of War Online PLayers Club [This message has been edited by Johnno (edited 04-02-2001).]
  8. Oh; and thanks for the above posts and thanks in advance if you post a link or send me one guys. Try my operation I made if you feel ambitious it's on my website in the download section and is called the "Cliffs of St.Athan." It's not historic if this a important factor to you but does model somewhat of the proper forces at the time of Operation Goodwood near the Drome River south of Caen. So far I've gotten lots of good feedback on it. I would just love to make a scenario that is very fun but also models proper or somewhat accurate forces, map and situation. Johnno
  9. Hey Jason many of my searches came up with references to the war memorial of the fighting in the Reichswald Forest. I think I'll start to concentrate my search on Feb 45 instead of Sept 44; Panzer leader must have screwed up. Apparently the war memorial is in Normandy near the location that the Canadians were at the time of September 44. So I suppose this was a screw up for Avalon Hill. I still would like to do this scenario for Feb 45 could anyone mail me a link for maps of the area in question. I did searches for the Reichswald Forest with no luck. Johnno
  10. Been to your webpage already in my search Michael...thought you might answer. I have the board game 'Panzer Leader' and one of the scenarios is called "The Reichswald." That scenario gave me the idea to make or recreate what I thought was a historical battle between the 2nd Canadian Infantry and the 84th German Infantry Division; it might not be historical though it doesn't say. I found one link that described the weather at this time for Sept 44 and it was heavy rain. 11. I'm having problems with an operation I'm doing for CM which happens in around Sept 7, 44 with the 2nd Canadian Infantry. I've been searching for hours for some decent historical maps and descriptions of the conflict at this time between the 2nd Canadian Infantry and the German 84th Infantry. So if anyone has a resource that they can supply me to better study and make the battle at least somewhat historical please send it my way. Johnno ------------------ Dogs of War Battle Prayer Praise be to the Lord, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. 12. Thanks Juardis I hope more guys come by the website to see the P.O.W I get an average of about 5-7 entries from Dogs of War members weekly. 15. Thanks SurlyBen you beat me to advertising your great new sky mod on the BTS board. If you guys come by the Dogs of War website, where the mod is available for download, check it out and see if you like it. I'm making some more changes and hopefully membership will be rise to about 90 members. If you're really interested in giving the website a try email me as there is a link at the bottom of most pages on my website. Currently membership is sitting at 72 members, we are accepting members by invitation or request at the moment. The Dogs of War is a online club or community of friendly people that play the game of Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord. The Dogs of War is not strictly about playing and winning as it offers so much more. We have a very active message board for a small club take a look and it might give you a better idea of what we're about. 16. I don't regulary post to BTS anymore because I am way to busy with my website and online club for Combat Mission players. I have tried to read as many of these replies as possible and have found no solution yet but I assume BTS is looking into as they have said. I have 70 members that play Combat Mission, I have 3 tournmaents going on and am about to start a campaign hosted by the website for my members and I'm very concerned. The tournament I have going now has scenarios constructed by myself and is basically infantry and mechanized in theme and in playtesting I have noticed considerable effects. The halftracks/open top vehicles seem to have become close to invulnerable to any type of indirect fire. They are not invincible but I definately noticed that they are way to lucky. This will have significant impact on my tournament that I have made; as all the members in my club switched over to 1.12 version so they will notice the difference. I'm hoping that something is being done (As I'm sure it is) and I have ad additional question is the coding that is effected in this topic indirect fire against any open top vehicle? I mean I have noticed the difference between Halftracks, Universal Carriers and perhaps T8's but would vehicles like the Hummel, Nashorn, Hetzer, and Allied open top tank destroyers be effected also? I'm asking BTS to perhaps answer this directly as I have 40 members in this tournament playing that will be effected? I know you guys are extremely busy but if you have not seen my website yet you should know that my website has 70 members of dedicated hardcore Combat Mission players. Please email if you would but I suppose a public message board answer would be quicker and easier for you that would be great if you could do that also. Basically I just need you to re-verify if this is a problem as I think it is and ...I could postpone the next round of the tournament I have if so. 17. This address might help Freak; I have done many of the units but it's far from complete as I have other website duties. Hope you like it or it is helpful. Dogs of War Homepage Infantry Stats Support Stats Vehicle Stats Tank Stats I don't have excel but I'd sure like to see that Excel spreadsheet Guachi. Someone sent me an excel spreadsheet a month ago I think; I tried to open it but it wouldn't open. Since then I think I have found a way to look at excel files. 18. I downloaded the 1.05 version and placed it in another folder now it seems to be ok. Damn I forgot how the game looked without the great mods I have now Johnno
  19. Thanks Morjit but you're not right. My .exe file was overwitten. I have one exe file I had two before one for 1.05 and one for the beta. I deleted the beta prior to downloading and when I installed the exe was overwritten. Johnno
  20. Yeah I've been playing around and can't seem to figure out how to load the old PBEM's are they useless now? I delted the old Beta version and all these PBEM's were made on the 1.05 version. Johnno
  21. I also desperately need help on this I have about 10 PBEM games going and need to have them going on the new version since I just upgraded how will they work? Right now when I try to start a game it say your opponent must upgrade. I assumed that PBEM's from the old version would be transferable? Johnno
  22. Awesome thanks Big Time Software!!! Johnno [This message has been edited by Johnno (edited 01-10-2001).]
  23. I run this website guys we have lots of happy friendly players and no one has complained about anyone quitting. If they did I would be on anyone that is showing poor sportsmanship like a horny dog on Pamela Abdersons soft milky thigh. Membership is sitting around 60 now and I pay special attention to the website updating daily perhaps you might like to join? Take a look at least, we have a very active Message Board also so check it out as well. 24. I never read all the posts thoroughly but I wish to advise anyone that might put down Canadians speaking as one myself not to bother; we do it enough ourselves; constantly. I've always thought of Canada as little brother nation to the USA, and by the way Maximus it isn't that cold up here, the majority of us do not consider snowshoes as daily outerwear in case you were unaware of that. If I had a chance to vote on it I'd vote my province into the USA (B.C). Since I was a young one I grew up on American media more than or just as much as Canadian Media. The only difference we really feel to our southern brothers is that we have a crappy government that spends all of the 55% valued dollar bills on whatever turns they're crank, usually a plane trip, first class and accommodations, first class to see the stupid queen and say hello. If you are Canadian and feel insulted by this so be it, I'm Canadian and I speak for many Canadians that feel much the same on the Westcoast. No! I don't have actual proof of this statement but I have seen several similar discussion on talk shows, newscasts and local magazine as and newspapers as well as word of mouth. Don't tell me I don't have any national pride either that flew out the window years ago with GST. If I ever get my act together and get a high enough job my wages will be in the 50% tax bracket then you can call me a resident of Oregon or Washington State. Sorry for venting, I feel very opinionated today. Johnno Visit my growing website the Dogs of War at: http://members.tripod.com/johnnocm
