  1. See my Too Little, Too Late. Lots of late-war big armor, although there is somewhat of a combined arms element to the battle. WWB
  2. They were updated models--the units were in the game already, just using placeholder models. As for motorcycle troops, there was some discussion about this. The conclusion reached was: 1) They generally fought dismounted. 2) Splitting squads enough to put them in motorcycles (eg, more than 2 ways) was a coding nightmare. 3) Motorcycles would end up being gamily abused beyond belief. So it was decided they were not worth the effort to include as mounted units, much like cavalry. You will note that dismounted motorcycle companies are avaliable to the germans. WWB
  3. SPOILERS @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ 1) I will make no claims as to the balance of this battle. It is a tough one for the germans, but many have found it rewarding to play and it is winnable. If played 2 player, I would advise making the soviets take a 25% force cut. 2) There is cover out there. That forest is very handy. One biggie--never, ever stand still in the open. You can even find cover in parts of the balka, and you can definitely use it to lower your profile. In addition, those recon units dying does not hurt too much--they need not exit for points and are really but a drop in the proverbial bucket in the grand scheme. 3) Why did I set it up so your recon gets ambushed first then the fight starts? Because some players like to have control of the full battle. I have done many things where you start in media res too, but felt a bit different about this one. I think it works pretty well, at least some other players have said so and the testers liked it alot. WWB
  4. John, If you or anyone else needs a 3dwargamer.net mailbox, I am the one to set it up. It will have a 10mb overall size limit for online storage, so you will want to delete mail as you download it. But it as no limits for file size overall, at least I have not yet hit them. Drop me an email (addy in profile) with preferred address & pw and I will set it up for ya. WWB
  5. Look at the Stalingrad Pak, Franko did a sweet operation--Failure on the Askay--that covers that battle. WWB
  6. See the PC Graphcis Issues part of the CMTech section of The 3d Wargamer for a full explanation (last link in my sig). Basically, with the 4x.xx nVidia drivers, you need to either turn FSAA off for CM or be prepared to do a bit of alt-tabbing. WWB
  7. There is a file-size bug with Ski troops. EFOW also adds some to file sizes--more FOW data needs to be tracked. So, until 1.02, I advise avoiding ski troops in PBEM or TCP. WWB
  8. To get the multi-select options for the soviets, use the backslash key to switch sides in the editor. You will need to switch back to multiselect the germans. WWB
  9. It does work overall but it does not fix the FSAA/text issues AFAIK. WWB
  10. One time Stix and I played 24 turns of a JWXspoon battle TCP. It took 16 hours before the ding-crash. We were both on dialup, and the battle was a bit large. So transfers were running 15 minutes at best. Longest ever gaming session was a 36 hour Half Life session, single player. WWB
  11. Also, if the need arises, I can hand out addresses @3dwargamer.net to those in need. No attachment size limits and no spam filtering. If push really comes to shove, I can set up email services out of my house to help folks get over the hump. WWB
  12. Really depends on what OS. I run 2000 and have had no problems running the following concurrently: mIRC IE (4-8 windows) Mozilla Mail Mozilla (3-5 windwows) PHPEdit Outlook 2002 CM (2-3 windows at times) and have not had too much of an issue. WWB
  13. That might well be it--you have AMD north and south bridges. Most AMD 761 boards still have a VIA Southbridge. I am on a VIA KT400 with a Ti4400, so that also could be an issue. As for the 4 in 1s, I am still on the 4.43s--quite solid by all reports. I want to let the early adopters see if the 4.45s work before making the switch. WWB
  14. You cannot import an endgame file into the editor, at least not last time I checked. BFC Fix or Do Somefink! WWB
  15. Only for you terrapin. I have not seen anyone else report success. I know very well that mine will not work with FSAA of any sort, although AF works nicely. WWB
  16. Demoss: comment was directed at Tanaka. A bit snippy to be honest, but I dont like getting blamed for other people's design requests. WWB
  17. Dear Boy, 1) You were far from outgunned. That 38t owns those sucky early war soviet tanks, and the 222s can take them out too. Especially if you use mgs or mortars to button them, leaving them out of command and subject to 45 second delays. 2) Play scenarios. They tend to be a bit more interesting. Start with the advanced tutorial on the CD. Look at the depot (first link in my sig) for reviews to see what to play next. WWB
  18. Which type of FSAA are you running? CM is a bit touchy about it, 4x does work with those drivers. I did have issues with 2x or quinquix. Do not use the 4x.xx drivers if you like FSAA. CM does not like those. Long live the Cess Patrol. WWB
  19. Well, it does count in the game where EFOW will lead to much different spotting than FFOW. If you have problems with the format take it up with Cyberfox. All we are doing is providing battles as requested. WWB
  20. Not about. CM's engine can't do multiturreted AFVs, making the T35 not an option. WWB
  21. Send the savegame to madmatt. It was a bug which was supposed to be fixed but seems to crop up again in odd circumstances. WWB
  22. Cant do it aside from auto-generating a map, then being very careful not to overwrite the damaged buildings you want. WWB
  23. Glad you like it enough to try it a time or two. It is definitely more difficult on the germans, and really should not be played as the soviets vs the AI. That said, it is winnable. The Germans do have overwhelming firepower, and you have to use it. Dont ever expose just one vehicle, use the long LOS to your advantage. The combined firepower of a panzer kompanie and all those SPWs can put a hurting on anything you spot. WWB
  24. Marc Sullivan (aka Xerxes) has done several Player-Pick scenario type battles, and they are very well done I must say. You can get them at The Scenario Depot (first link in my sig). One is called "1 If By Land, 2 If By Sea." I am blanking on the other. WWB
