For example almost all police in occupied Berdiansk defected to Russian side.

I think that some of this is just human nature, we had the same when Germany occupied the Channel Islands, France had same in vichy areas.

Folk need money to live and just accept the new situation.

P.S. as ever thanks for your information it's always appreciated.

Russia's reputation would be in shatters after something like this, but it is ruined already. I doubt NATO would retaliate in kind, or even entered direct conventional confrontation against an enemy with proven willingness to use nuclear weapons.

That approach would cross a red line which would mean all out war with Russia. NATO and the world would not be able to accept it so I seriously hope they don't but hey Putler is beyond sane at the moment and maybe he does not care about the world his daughters and grandchildren will live in?

I think and hope there might be enough in the Russian military to understand that their children and grandchildren will suffer if they cross this line.

Humans are hardwired to procreate and ultimately that like other animals is the main desire to ensure their offspring survive and prosper.

Perhaps I am being naive but I hope reason prevails....

  3. ITV news last night lead on this

    https://www.itv.com/news/2022-04-11/three-war-crimes-in-bucha-which-reflect-russias-senseless-murders-in-ukraine

A powerful well researched report, very difficult to watch.

It takes time to create these reports and the world will get to see what Russia has brought upon Ukraine.

So while I get some folk taking pot shots at the media we do have to understand that complex issues take time to explain.

Boris Johnson paid a surprise visit to Kiev today.

I wonder if anti-ship missiles were among the topics discussed at that table?

I doubt it, more a distraction to help Johnson back home rather than to help Ukraine.

I hope the #ucking lack of visas to Ukrainian refugees was on the table, people in UK want to help but the Government is asking for paperwork even for cat's being brought into the UK.

I am glad we have sent weapons but we could be doing more to help the refugees.

Were either your comments or his have anything to do with troop movements in Ukraine? The performance of Russia's military? Or anything close to what we've said we want this thread to stick to? No. That means it was off the rails. See ya.

For future reference, and advise for anyone else who's fortunate to get a warning rather than a vacation, the proper response to a post like I made is "sorry. My bad" and quitely move on. OR say nothing.

Gents please pay heed and take all this off line for heaven sake.

  6. John IMO you are being a useful Russian stooge once again...

As Womble politely asked you please engage what critical thought process you have

Hint: it is at odds with them. Look at the language used, and see the propaganda piece for what it is. It's not very subtle.

The truth is out there..... (Just not on certain US TV channels...)

More American volunteers fighting in Ukraine - judging by the voice, this is a different guy than the one Haiduk posted:

"All the Fun Stuff to make it a beautiful day"

Hmmm I am not sure he should be there, his tone struck the wrong note with me. I do wonder about some of the volunteers and motives.

Let's hope  the Russians are quickly kicked out so the normal people can get back home and try and rebuild their lives and houses left burning by this war...

Regardless whether Putin goes, there is unlikely to be a military solution.  At some point there will be a political settlement.

Some thinking:  "Most analysts think the Ukrainian military will sooner or later crack. It is fighting with all it has all the time, with no respite. Russia can keep reinforcing its front lines with fresh troops.  The question is: What then?

The common assumption is that Moscow will seek to install an obedient government in Kyiv, leaving it to run the west of the country, while annexing a large part of the country east of the Dnipro River. One possibility is that Ukraine’s formal military will melt away and an insurrection will start.

Expert estimates for how many troops would be needed to control and occupy a rebellious Ukraine number upward of 500,000..'

Erwin I think you need to really engage your critical analysis process and understand what has been happening and as Steve says read this thread and understand. (I suspect too much time watching certain TV news stations who once again have egg on their face pushing lies)

IMO you are soo far from the ballpark that it is embarrassing.

For those interested in the information operations space - ExTrac is worth a look:

I haven't got the bandwidth to delve into the detail of this stuff to establish its veracity; however, I can tell you for a fact that their analysis of the Afghan media space that I read today is absolutely bang on the money so on that basis I highly recommend it for those that are interested in this aspect of the conflict.

Amazing how many fall for these false narratives and then propagate it for the Russians as it fits within their internal narrative about some political parties. Just the number of folk that post that BS in this thread as some sort of justification for the Russian attacks saddens me.

BBC is still referring to the attack on the nuclear plant as "shelling", but on the video they show on their article, it's clear that it was not shelling as in indirect fire from above, but direct fire at point blank range against the top floor of the building:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-60609633

(second half of the clip embedded in the article)

Wondering if the Ukrainians had a force there to protect the plant, and they were the target of the attack? It seeems like very targeted fire.

Looks like the Russians have seized the power plant, the UKR forces can't be everywhere 🙄
