1. Thanks Madmatt! I feel like a junky who just got a fix. Thanks Tiger! You da man!!! ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.) [This message has been edited by Turret Ring (edited 10-07-2000).]
 2. Pardon me guys. But did all this hamster stuff come from the sound file in Talonsoft's Eastern/Western Front games where a looser and his hamster are threatened with being shot? ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 3. Sherman Calliopes ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 4. Hey! Kinda on the same subject but did any of you guys read the Bolo series of sci fi books by Kieth Lamure (sp)? ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 5. How about the C64 Mech Bde series? ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 6. That squared-off, long-barreled, wide-tracked, chariot of death AKA Tiger I. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 7. Man! Are we spoiled or what. BTS has done such a great job with aftermarket patches and the encouragement of third party mod efforts, that some of us expect to be able to simply suggest changes and have them adopted in yet another patch. Now if it's all about offering suggestions for future developement of CM2, CM3, or CM4 I'll jump on the bandwagon too...... ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 8. One of my favorite "just for funzies" things to do is start a QB with a Bn of infantry attacking a company of armor in the heavy fog. The ground pounders always kick ass. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 9. Been there, done that! Of course it's a lot different now but I still had a great deal of fun back then. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 10. Only counted 7 you folks who are older than my 51 years......, but a lot are getting close. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)

 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Shatter50: No hard feeling to any above but I would like some specific info on Pros and Cons of the tanks of CM.

Oh. In that case. The Hitzer is one of my favorites. It's dirt cheap, hard to hit, has a thick hide (in the front anyway), and has a nasty little 75 that kicks butt. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 14. This is an interesting thread. A lot of you folks out there seem to have some valid concerns about wheather-or-not CM2 will be historical. A good point, counter point thread. But.... All the way through my reading I kept coming back to the thought that CMBO seems to be one of the most historically and technically accurate "wargames" I have ever had the pleasure to use. No I don't think we have anything to fear. CM2 will be just as great for all of us "Historical techno freaks," if not better. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Tom Callmeyer: Does no one have an opinion about which tanks are best in CM? I was hoping to hear some opinions on this topic when I wandered into the thread.

The "BEST?" Do you mean the most effective taking into account R&D, production, and operational maintenance costs? Or...do you mean the ass kickens't steel monster on the battlefield at that moment? ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." 16. Just last night I was watching some salvos of 14 inch arty tear into a wheat field where three King Tigers were sitting. At the same time my Pershings were throwing round after round into the doomed German tanks. Call me a sap if you will...., but I was quite impressed with the scene. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Oddball_E8: Oh youre welcome to pay if you want! i wouldnt mind and i dont think that any other mod maker would....

See... I knew it was stupid. Anyway, thanks guys. You really have made a great game even better. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." 18. If not playing, at least checking this forum for some good ideas, stimulating military history buff stuff, or a laugh. CMHQ gets some of my time for MOD searches most days also. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 19. Yeah. Me too. This is probably a stupid thing to say but I almost feel like I should be paying for them. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 20. Wow! ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 21. I once brought this subject up in a thread where it didn't really belong. I did not get any responses but I guess I should be greatful I didn't get flamed. Anyway....I loved that MOD of the beat-up Panther A, as well as the dirty/dusty allied MOD. What about some MODS that show more damage to AFV's? Bent or torn fenders, damaged or incorrectly stowed OEM, splattered signatures of molten metal, missing roadwheels, holed side armor skirts.....etc. Any chance of that stuff being available in the future? Seems to me that could add even more realism to an already very realistic game. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." 22.
quote:
Originally posted by jshandorf: In combat you never know how long you are going to survive so make an impact when you can and be decisive.

Wow! So much for concepts like fire discipline and extended operations with limited resupply. No. In real combat you have to be smarter than to just hold down the trigger on the biggest weapon.
 23. It's been my experience; [A Cold War Warrior from 1968 to 1975 in Vietnam (were it was anything but cold) and in NATO.... As well as a BA in History with 20 years of teaching while trying very hard to stay current in world politics.] that has brought me to the conclusion that the USA doesn't do anything that it doesn't at least believe is in it's own best interest. When it comes to geopolitical manipulation of one nationstate by another, or a group of others.......both or all factions could be manipulating eachother. And sometimes everyone gets what they are after. My own opinion is that we manipulate the UN and other nations far more than they us. Sure... there are exceptions to this... However, we are the toughest dog in the pack because we pay the lion's share of the bills (even when we don't stay current with the payments.) Oh. By the way. Be careful young man. If your going into the military looking for the same kinds of fulfillment or rewards you get from studying about military history or from playing war games you may be a bit disappointed. While serving your country and living the soldiers life does have it's share of rewards.....it's not at all as romantic as it's made to seem by some. ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." 24. Mongolian Infantry. I read in a book (I think it was "Tigers in the Snow" circa 1942) that the Russian's would use Mongolian Infantry to breach minefields simply by having them charge into them. I guess we will have to have platoon level commissars to keep the Mongolians headed in the right direction.... ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade." (Greek general's comment upon being told that the Persian archers could blot-out the sun with their arrows.)
 25. Yes. That was a good one. There was a follow up book by that author (I've forgotten the title) where the same characters were fighting on the mexican border against someone. Help! The problem with your hope of modern armor combat using the CM engine I believe are the distances involved. But maybe some of you pro computer guys could speak to that??? ------------------ "Then we shall fight in the shade."
