  1. I have quit games vs the AI in disgust when I had to plot moves for many units down a single winding road in column movement. My god but that's tedious. Why not a 'follow'command? Other games have column movement or follow commands so it is possible. Also I'd like to see all my plots displayed at once. Too late for CM:BB but maybe for future modules? 2. Old news. I wish they would stop crowing about what they will release and let us crow about what they just released.
  3. Yeah, Moon, I'll send you 20 Dollars cash. I'll send you two hundred dollars cash if you get my CMBB disk hot off the press and ship it to me overnight.
  4. Bormann's escape, or failure to, would be a good one. Plus the Mohnke bridge. And the single KV-I that got onto the road behind Mansteins point. There are some I don't think CM can do. Like Pavlovs house. One building wouldn't last twenty minutes.
  5. Besides Prokhorovka anybody got an action they'd just love to play out in CMBB? Also, there was a book out some time ago, maybe printed by the army, that was about 'small unit actions in Russia'. Sort of a tactical primer. Anybody know the exact name of that book or how it might be acquired?
  6. I'm not that interested in a demo. I'll order the game as soon as I can. I prefer to preorder. I'll be glad to pay for overnight delivery. Hell, I'll go pick it up.
  7. Thanks all, and what is CMMOS. (Combat Mission Mistreats Our StuG's?)
  8. When you start a game how does the game select from the different mods, if you have more than 1 of certain vehicles?
  9. Check out their forums. Stalin was a nice guy. The Germans murdered the Poles at Katyn. The NKVD fed the poor and, my favorite regarding the millions murdered by Stalin; "Maybe they WERE enemies of the people."
  10. I think I read somewhere that the Germans had a division cut and run in 43-44. They also shot every tenth man. I think nowadays the word itself has a more liberal meaning.
  11. If you download just a map, where do you save it to? I have a few on my desktop but I'm not sure where to unzip them to.
  12. I have a 3Dfx card now. I understand they have closed up shop. Which video card, and which card maker, will be best for CM2?
  13. This to the VietNam guys. If you were under fire by M-16's, wouldn't you realise it sooner than later? Don't M-16's sound different than AK's?
  14. I think the tank rider component of Soviet tank brigades was more to provide close in support than to carry infantry onto an objective.
  15. I'm starting to come around to the view that combat mission, and in fact all wargames, magnify lethality in order to allow the players to reach a decision. I hope, when I have more time, to substantiate my claim with anecdotal evidence. Does anyone else feel that this is the case?
  16. I had a 76mm round ricochet off the mantle of a panther and penetrate the side of the panther next to it.
  17. By continually locking threads aren't you doing what you critisize Tiger for doing? Taking your toys and going away?
  18. I made up a scenario to check the spotting of buttoned up tanks. A bunch of StuG's, all behind buildings. A bunch of shermans, buttoned, down range. I ran through it several times. Each turn a StuG broke cover into the LOS of one sherman. Every StuG but one was killed on the first shot. The longest elapsed time between entering the LOS and dying was 16 seconds, (which I thought was pretty accurate) the average was less. Two StuGs, out of forty, got kills of their own, one got two. One Stug was killed passing between two buildings. Total time for the buttoned sherman to spot, rotate and kill was two seconds. I'm not trying to be contentious, I'm just trying to find out how well this represents the historical reality of fighting in a buttoned up tank. Can anybody direct me to a source? How long does it take to engage a target after it's been spotted by a crew member?
  19. One of the first mods I ever downloaded was done by Tiger. Most of the rest were also done by him. He was great at it. What a loss!
  20. I applaud BTS' stance on what kind of posts and posters are welcome here. Thanks for stepping in. I don't have a beef with the gunnery but with the ease a buttoned up tank sees all, knows all. [ 07-25-2001: Message edited by: RCHRD ]
  21. I don't know if it's been brought up yet but Rommel wrote in his book about ordering his tanks (France 40) to fire right and left, on the move, even without a target.
  22. I think you're talking about Krasni Bor. I also think the Germans and Spaniards would probably look and perform about equally.
