1. Does anybody have a link to the scenario, "Move it or Lose it?" I can't find it on Wild Bill's scenario list.
 2. What's Wild Bill's Addy? I did a search but came up empty. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 3. I'm ready to try one of those pre-packaged missions from our map makers. Anyone got a favorite? Do you look at the map with your opponent before picking units or do you play blind as if it was a QB? ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 4. Bates, Get CC2. You'll be glad you did. It was by far the best CC game I ever played. I thought I wouldn't play it after getting CM but it turns out the two actually compliment each other quite well. When I want total realism in a turn-based game, I play CM. When I feel I need the rush of real time, I go online to the zone and play CC2. I don't think I'll ever quit playing it. When playing another human opponent online, the game is as addictive as any game could be. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 5. Go to Tournament House http://www.tournamenthouse.com to find opponent via email or chat. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 6. Yes Osino, I believe that's a given. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 7. Charles and Stevetherat, thanks for the info. This clears things up a bit. I always thought the Churchill AVRE was made as an area fire tank that would be used in thick woods and cities where you could fire at a target and kill them without ever putting yourself in their LOS. Never even occured to me that it's purpose was a totally different one. I guess I got this idea while using it in CC2 since it was so effective in this role. David, no need for a sarcastic remark here... ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 8. You know, a lot of times when I bring up Close Combat in relation to CM, I'm doing so in jest. For instance, my quote before in this thread is a good example. So calm down all you realist freaks out there. I'm fully aware that CM is the more realistic of the two games. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I loved that Intellivoice... ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

Nice to see you're maintaining your scholarly principles.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say but knowing you, I'm guessing it's sarcasm. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 11. I know the feeling... I'm using an AVRE in a PBEM right now. I crept up behind some trees and fired an area shot at a bunch of trees where my enemy's armored car lies behind. I'd say the shot was about 10m away from his vehicle and I still don't detect any damage. In Close Combat 2 that would've been a kill... It seems that a 290mm shell would do more damage than what we see on screen but I think more testing is needed. Has anyone had success using the AVRE? ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 12. Jeff said:
quote:
What was the sea battle game on the old Intellivision console?

Actually, I think it was called just that-- "Sea Battle." Great game by the way. Slightly OT but does anybody remember that old electronic board game from the early 80's in the D&D fantasy mold called "Dark Tower." Man, I used to love that game! Still have it but of course the damn thing won't work now. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

Please explain. aka_tom_w said:
quote:
WOW..... This Thread got awfully heated in a big hurry... I guess that "Hey Everybody: settle down and have an eggnog" idea did not go over so well.. Oh well I tried -tom w

It's the damn holidays. Men hate this time of year and it just makes everyone more cranky, including myself. My alcohol intake has doubled in this past month and that won't change until January 2nd. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 14. How can the muzzle velocity of the AVRE gun make any difference when the shot is fired up into the air and comes down to its target in an arc? There's not much more velocity in this kind of shot than there would be using a handgrenade, right? The shot is not being fired like a regular tank would fire it's round where it's the shortest distance from point to point. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 15.
quote:
...or maybe just cuz Artillery falls from thousands of feet in the air..

Hmm...good point. That velocity thing WOULD come into play, wouldn't it?
 16. Possibly. BTS, is this the reason the blast crater is so small? Does the size of the crater it leaves indicate the blast strength of the round or is the visual just an abstraction? ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young. 17. I was wondering why the AVRE which has a 290mm mortar gun leaves a shell hole which is only the size of about an 80mm shell. How come it doesn't leave the same impression as one of those heavy arty shells? ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 18. Tournament House http://tournamenthouse.com is trying to do just this--organize a forum so everyone can go in and easily find an opponent for a TCP/IP game. Right now, TH is using I believe, an IRC chat because the Java one was loading too slowly. The owner of TH, Yobobo, would like everyone's opinion on what they want in a chat room so try it out and give him your thoughts!
 19. My vote's in. Although I'm not sure if I just punched out the hole for Combat Mission or Buchannan. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 20. Damn straight Cap. I got zero sleep last night plus I just hate mornings in general. Bad combination. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 21. What does Atomic expect? They take out the battlemaker in their games so you can't make your own maps anymore. This stifles online play and makes people go back to cc2 and Real Red CC3 with 3rd party mod maps. What the hell do they expect to happen? I'd love to know what advantage they thought they were giving themselves by doing this? ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 22. How many damn times do we have to hear this question? Every day there's a post about it. Go play the first installment and have some f*****g patience. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

Why don't you do us all a favor from now on and practice what you preach. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 24. Manta Ray said:
quote:
Well I dont think that the accusation that PC Gamer writers take money to give a favorable review is very nice. Might even border on slander. Besides they gave CMBO a good rating. Did BTS pay them off too?

That was hyperbole Ray. I'm sure none of these companies pay off magazine reviewers for favorable reviews...although who can be sure. What I said about the CC series has nothing to do with CM so it's preposterous for you to say what you did. The reason I said what I did was because I think a lot of these times, the reviewers haven't spent a lot of time with the previous versions of the game. Case in point...the PC Gamer reviewer who wrote about CC3. It seems to me, when they talk about the changes, it appears they are copying something off the press notes. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
 25. I guess Atomic didn't have enough money to pay off all the reviewers this time because CC5 was panned in one of the top computer game magazines, PC Gamer. It's about time they came out and told the truth. Only thing is, they left out so many of the other things that are wrong with it. Oh well, maybe that'll be in the next issue... Now explain to me again why CC3 and CC4 are so much better... ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.
