How many times do I have to bump this before I get an answer? I have tanks waiting on ascending a hill based on the question I am asking. Please respond BTS. They refuse to advance to the top until they know they have the advantage. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

Here's my advice to you: When you insert CM into your CD drive for the first time, immediately go into your control panel and change the name of the drive from D to CM as the game won't be leaving its new home any time soon. Hope this helps. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

Cleavis, You will always have a CM1 oppponent with me. I am more of a fan of the Western Front than the Eastern. Although I definetely plan to buy CM2, there's no way I'll stop playing this theatre, even if there is a significant change in graphics, engine, etc. I just hope that CM will be upgradable to the new engine and all the bells and whistles of CM2. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

BUMP. I think this is a topic well worth an answer to and BTS is the one who needs to give it since they programmed the game. So how about it guys? Is this modeled in the game, and if so, what factors are taken into account? ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

I looked through the book but didn't find anything on whether or not the game takes into account tanks or guns shooting at other tanks from higher or lower elevations. It seems to me, if one tank was firing at another tank on a hill, the round would have a greater chance of deflecting since it would hit the armor most likely on a upward angle. In turn, this angle would be added to the armor slope to produce a value on whether or not the round penetrates or not. Therefore, it would make it very advantageous to get one's tanks on top of hills to gain this added bonus. Of course, shooting down upon an opponent would also produce an angled shot but it doesn't seem that it would deflect the shot away, but probably eliminate most of the armor slope since it's taking an opposite path. Anyway, was wondering if firing at different elevations like these are modeled in CM and if so, what are the effects? ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

I sent my Hellcat on a "Fast Move" around the flanks of a Panther on top of a hill about 500m away. While on the way, it has a shot at the Panther and takes it. He hits but the shell broke apart. Ok, this is fine but then, instead of continuing on with his order to go to the Panther's rear, he stops to engage the Panther. Guess who won? I can maybe...maybe see stopping to engage if I was in "Hunt" mode since he was perpendicular to the Panther but not in Fast Move. Heh, yeah I only have 2 games going on right now and ours is...well...going at a slow pace for the moment. I thought I could lower the number of CM games I play to reduce my dependency but it's not working. I like moderate-heavy hills and trees in village setting. That's about my only preference. I'd only be able to do a turn a day at the most. Sometimes only a turn every other day. Why not go where his Jumbo/s aren't? Unless you're playing on farmland, there will be hills. Even the modest hill maps which most people play offer many places to hide, not to mention behind the buildings. Why fight fire with fire when he's got the bigger flamethrower? He obviously wants you to come out and challenge his Ubertanks, so don't. Concentrate on staying away from the Jumbos and try to eliminate as many of his other tanks and men as possible. He will either have to move the Jumbo from his chosen location to somewhere he doesn't want to go or keep the Jumbo there and watch the action play out without his expensive toy being a part of it. With all those points sitting there in the back not being used, you will probably have the upper hand as you move your tanks forward to take on whatever he has left in that department. Hopefully, you'll be able to end up with a situation where he has the Jumbo and a few men while you have more men and a few tanks. From there, you do the same thing until all he's left with is his Jumbo which will now be blind because of the lack of scouts. That's when you sneak up your AT teams on his flanks. And, if he decides to move the Jumbo to adjust to the situation, then you have at least succeeded in forcing him out of his desired position, possibly making it easier for you to flank him with AT teams or a speedy tank. If you find yourself in a position to charge the tank with infantry, just launch some smoke in front of it and charge. The Jumbo will have to button up and won't be able to see Jack squat until you peer in through the firing slit to say hello. ------------------ Youth is wasted on the young.

The problem wouldn't be with what Windows edition you're running or your processor, it would be with your graphics card. What kind of vid card do you have? My understanding is that a troll is a person who flames someone soley to start a war. Newbies are not considered trolls unless they do just that. In fact, newbies here are treated quite well in my opinion as long as they don't do what I did and start demanding changes within the game after 1 week of playing. You seem like an intelligent guy.
