  1. They should and some would be of danger to exposed crew. AP mines would also be a risk to light wheeled vehicles. I don't think that is modelled Oh fun trick, use AP mines on a road, I find that PBEM players will detect the mines but not look at them closely to see if they are AT or AP. The trick works the other way too. Mines is mines as Willie and Joe might say
  2. Hey dog guys, thanks for the info but could we get back to tilt rod mines? Thanks Anybody out there with any knowledge of those types of mines being used in WWII?
  3. hey spoon I experimented with using a track with both sides covered by no go terrain. Then I set up an exit and a major Victory flag at one end. You can then use a Stug as a locomotive followed by HT cars, rather jerky and a tad silly looking but it does work.
  4. or if the reinforcement area (like a victory flag) is controlled by the enemy the reinforcement doesn't come in and should be shifted to another location at 'x' distance away. The x distance being set like the buffer area in operations. It would be even better to have a dynamic reinforcement set up that would allow for up to three possible entry locations based on: random enemy control of the initial location enemy nearness to the other locations, ie the one fartherest away. Or if all were controlled, no reinforcement until the location is cleared.
  5. Any grog historians out there? How common was the use of anti-tank ditches? How were they used, in conjunction with minefields, behind them, in front of them, different concepts of it use by the different nationalities, etc "tactical deployment of the anti-tank ditch" I find that trenches simulate a ditch fairly well and is anyone using them for that? Hans
  6. Ah well, I found Perfect general when I was in Saudi and had nothing to do. Played some scenario a hundred times or more! 2D, generic units, not the brightest AI in the world but a fun little game (for that period). Kinda of a embryonic Close Combat without the historical theme. Hey Quinxi post more!
  7. Let me say that the first time I saw CMBOs ability to create terrain I thought about a Napoleonic game. The main problem with the Talonsoft system was the use of the same maps over and over again. On WWI, a low level tactical game would be of interest, from the trench raids, recon patrols, snipers, etc. Hopefully someone (who who who) will develop a nappy simulator at the same scale of CM. There are a number of incidents I would love to "scenario" from the Peninsular campaign
  8. Under your name you are listed as "junior member 9950 while I'm an elite individual with 2719!
  9. Depends For PBEM I prefer 700-1200 on a large or huge map, Armour, 25-30 turns. In me versus the AI I like 300-700 points medium maps with +25% to the computer all random and I see if I can handle what the machine throws at me. In general I like the smaller battles so I can enjoy and 'know' my troops tribulations.
  10. I will give it a try. Hey Quinxi how come you are a "junior" member you introduced me to the game!
  11. The anti-tank mines modelled in CMBB only immobilizes. When did the tilt rod mine come into the world of War? WWII or later? If during WWII who used them and when? If they did exist during the CMBB period should they be modelled in CMBB? Thanks
  12. Hey Lars. I tried that, No from the DOS I get a badly corrupted screen that is impossible to read Mercury The email is Wayne100@emirates.net.ae Thanks
  13. two bumps a record for me! We use to have some perfect general fans here, where have they gone?
  14. Nice but it really should have tall grass growing around the edges!
  15. There was a scenario in that old game called 'Two countries, one island' that I'd like to re-create as a CMBB battle. I have a copy of the map but my old program won't run on my new computer. Does anyone have the particulars about that battle, set up and points? Thanks
  16. Hey I want the Chaco war! Seriously I think after they do the engine rewrite they should do a 1939-1945 World War II, they have the East, 44+ in the West just need to add in the early war and Med. Too bad the far east, Okinawa or Saipan would have been interesting, not to mention Bataan, Imphal and the Malaysian campaigns. Small add ins for the Spanish civil war and the winter war too
  17. These gentlement seem to arrive at QB battles without any molotovs, grenade bundles etc, no close in ATD beside grenades. Is that planned, a bug or am I being incredibly unlucky? Thanks
  18. Perhaps what we need then is a Gasoline engine sound for tanks (generic) Diesel sound for each nations tanks It would be a nice feature but as some have said is it realistic to include it? I would think that a smoke burst would be easy to model and add to the game. A good way to tell if a tank is abandoned or not! Glad to see there are some diesel grogs about
  19. Thanks Zarquon for visualizing my dream ...but you left off 'rude gesture'
  20. I've done that type of battle on CMBO, but I used a small map and never more than 400 points. It can be very confusing, especially in a defense. One thing I do use is to use the 8 setting at the start to give myself the advantage of "looking at the map". I find a sketch map helps one to find things, like the objectives!
  21. I recommend "taunt" non-motorized units within shouting range could engage in derisive comments/actions. Effect, good chance to raise own morale, possible chance of causing the target to become enraged and charge. Much smaller chance that the target would panic and run for it. A unit that was taunted might also disobey orders and fix it sights on the taunting unit exclusively. After a taunting attack a unit that had successfully not reacted could counter-attack with the dreaded, "repartee" command. "Are you serious Hans or have you been eating overaged canned goods"? : ]
  22. I would think that is a intel signature, in my own observer times I detected vehicles by that smoke signature and certainly by the sound. Yep revving up for power was part of it too. One of my wife's uncles was a WWII tank mechanic who went forward a lot to recovered knocked out Brit tanks. When I showed him CM, his response was: Not enough bloody noise, mud and smoke (or words to that effect) : ]
  23. Diesel grogs When heavy vehicles gun their engies (from stop to fast or even "hunt") shouldn't their be an awful roar and a puff of bluish smoke?
  24. Belayed thanks to Madmatt for including the fix for guns moving thru fences. I had designed a scenario (imagine a limbered battery on the road and it needs to set up quick---yes, on a road with fences along side) What redesign the map? Never Get the software changed! Thanks
