  1. I love it even more when you make a great plan stick with it and sweeps the enemy away like they were computer simulated soldiers, oh wait, they are! That explains quite a bit... ------------------ André
  2. Missions with bridges? I made one too. Best played as the British or two player. Goes like this: Germans trying to take a retake a important road juncture along with a bridge and a hill with a church. In the village some british paratroopers are defending while waiting for major reinforcements. Can the Germans wipeout the paratroopers and take the tactictly very importent hill and bridge in time? [scary music] or will it all be in vain and they'll be slaughtered by the reinforcement? [stop music] If you want to try it, email me at: tangen76@hotmail.com André [This message has been edited by Andre76 (edited 08-10-2000).]

Thus all the kinetic energy is transferd to the body. And the surgons have to find a lot of splinters from the bullet. ------------------ André

If you read MarkIV first post he "comes to your defence", although I'm sure you'll do just fine on your own. But how about being a little polite and maybe humble? This was your first post, wasn't it? Most of the peolpe on this board know a thing or two of the WWII also, maybe even YOU will learn something! BTW: Don't jump to conclusions, what do you know about MarkIV? Maybe he is a translator? ------------------ André
  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by M Hofbauer: What i'm interested in is, do you have a spell against Churchill VIIIs? I desperately need one for several of my PBEMs. Or at least one that will make the Fireflies go away<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Na,na,na! Then We would have to ask BTS for a new unit, a mage for the allies (the good, like Gandalf) and a witch for the germans(the evil ones, like ... like... the one from Sleeping Beauty!). Just do like me, before any pbem I behead a rooster and drink the blood. Works like a charm! (a bit messy though!) André
  6. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by IntelWeenie: Viet Nam. He about bashed me once when I mentioned the M-93 ammo's tumbling effect causing bigger wounds than a 'clean' shot from a 7.62 weapon. I, for one, am one of the high velocity crowd. Remember when Pres. Reagan and Sec. Brady were shot? Reagan nearly died and Brady was, sadly, crippled for life. And that was from a piddly .22LR (small bullet, high velocity)! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Well, the kenetic energy inflict a greater trauma and send shock throughout the body. This can cause further damage (internal bleeding, cracked liver...) But ofcource, I don't want to be hit by a tumbeling bullet! (or anything else for that matter! ) .22LR? I always thought it was with a 9mm, a polise special or something. Scary! André
  7. I find that the one who is victoriuos in the tank battle, win the whole battle. With this I mean that the peroson who has the last tank (not TD) can with the support of this tank win the battle. André
  8. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Loki: Is this for real!?!?! Are you Loki saying that if we don't belive in astrology we haven't read on Hitler?! And Hitler sure won WWII with help of astrology, oh, no he didn't! Go figure. I've read about Hitler and his occult fascination, just one more idiotic idea of his. I belive astrology is crap. Where is the evidence? All prediction is double edged and everything can be read into it. Loki, here's a prediction for you: tomorrow you'll find a need, and it will be important for you to fulfill this need. Ok, maybe I'm a bit harsh (sorry), but I can't really understand people who just have this need for something greater then themselfs, somtehing that can guide and protect them. I think they live in a dream world. Just my 2 øre (cents).... André
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by PatAWilson: About casualties or lack thereof caused by an MG: Deadly as they were MGs did not lay down an impenetrable curtain of lead. 10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by pritzl: Close in, a large, low veloicity round is going to do a lot more damage to a soft target (human body) than a high velocity, low mass round. It's a matter of simple physics.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Are you seriously saying that you would rather be shot by a M16 (low mass, high velocity) than a regular pistol 9mm("high" mass, low velocity)?!? I was a medic (sanitet) in the norwegian army, although it's only 9 months of service we learnt a bit of shot wounds. And I can say that I would rather be shot by a 9mm pistol any day of the week than the M16! Have you heard of exit wounds? Do you think they're nice, round and clean? I think you'd better check out some bullet wounds before you make these sort of comments. André
  11. I've seen that of of the "gamey" topics is using non-historical units (too many XX, too few ZZ). As somebody already pointed out; not every body who play this *GAME* has a master degree in WWII force combination! You really can't expect it either, people play to have fun. One could argue that one viable option is to have a "historcial setup" check box in QB menu. If this is checked you can't buy 7 Pershings or 1 infantery platoon + lots of arty. But had to choose a more historical right combination of units. Any thoughts? Bottom line, talk (write) to your PBEM opponent BEFORE the battle and set the terms. André
  12. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by PatAWilson: The thing that I absolutely love about this game is the effectiveness and importance of infantry. For the first time in my computer wargaming memory infantry is queen of the battlefield and all else, armor included, is merely support. IMHO as it should be. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> "Queen of the battlefield" - just as the WWI generals thought. Well, it certainly changed with the tanks! As Guderian himself said, that era was over. André

When I have a flamethrower team (with precious little ammo) I don't want it to countinue flaming after the house is on fire. Else the whole ammo supply is going to be spent in just one or maybe two turns! Issue Two: Yes. I frankly can't see the problem. I assume that the game engine treats the 3d models as objects. It's not difficult to give these object some more properties. (Like House.collapsed=1) I should be able to target a) The house (stop when collapsed, find new target, or for flamethrowing units, stop when on fire) Troops that you can see inside the house(like it's now) c) Area target (like it's now) How complicated could this be? Then everybody will be happy, or? André
  15. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Vyper: Hit Capability: (and to a smaller extend the quality of optics) the better the chance to hit. (...) 16. In my last QB I took several Ami prisoners. Well suddenly a unit of four prisoner began moving towards the friendly units. (I had NOT given them this order) The turn ended with the prisoners standing inside a house with another ami unit (platoon HQ, not captured). Well, I thought I would lose control over them, after all they must have been "liberated" now as they were with friendly forces. To my surprise, the next turn they were still my prisoner and I ordered them proptly back to my forces. Stupid or just gentlemen?(Answer:Stupid! ) André
  17. I first imobilzed a Hellcat with my 81mm Mortar and then a little later killed it. But, as you know it has and open turret. BUT I did imobilze the tank, and should have nothing to do with the open turret. André
  18. I was just thinking, shouldn't an FO have the ability to radio to the artilliry his target area, and then ask the to wait for further order before firing? -> You have an order called "Assig Target" or something. This means that you set your guns to target an area (this takes a couple of minutes) and then when you want them to fire you give the order to fire. Then it will not take so long waiting for the artilliry stike. Yeah, I know you can "buy" a marker, but I feel that this is something you shouldn't have to buy. Of course, if you want to target another area you'll be back to start. What do you think? Are there any pratical/historical/logical reason for this not to be implemented?! 19. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by L.Tankersley: The one element you mention that I'm fairly sure is not addressed in CM is the difference in turning radius. There was a long discussion on this issue perhaps a year ago. I'm don't remember for sure, but I think that the core problem was that there wasn't hard data on turning radius available for many (most?) of the tanks in CM. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Hmm.. I can see that it would be difficult to get data on the german tanks, as there aren't that many left, but the british? And certanly there are quite a few ami tnak left?!? André
  20. It (AA) seems to be a great deflection shooter when the target is not modelled (Aircraft) and a lousy one when it is(inf). This reminds me, is deflection shooting modelled in CM? André
  21. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Bertram: I think the house collapsing at one point is a gross oversimplification of the real thing. Most houses don't stand unscratched for a couple of shots, and then, with that one shot to many, collapse like a house of cards. In reality the house just would detoriate more and more. Bertram<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Of course, but what does this "symbolise" then? (when the house collapse) The troops inside does certinaly suffer the effects of this "oversimplification" and a lot of them die. Whatever it is, it would be nice to assign the house as a target until it collapses (abstration or not). André
  22. I see a alot of people like the Stuh42, and after the last QB were it killed 17 inf, 2 mortar, 1 HT, 1 Saxon - I have to agree! But, the thread startet with the StugIII, which I'm not particulary fond of... André
  23. Well in light of the the very interesting article that Fd ski (thanks!) made us aware of: http://www.hitechcreations.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000686.html I just have to wonder if CM reflects this reality? (Amarican pivoting, flotation, penetration and so forth) It seems to me that all the complalints of the Ami crew isn't mirrored in CM. Opinons?
