  1. How about this one. I had a Churchill VIII directly fire at a Marder that had a fellow Marder to its side on the crest of a hill. The shot missed its target but landed between both Marders and blew them both up with the one shot! Those 95mm H.E. shells sure pack a decent punch. Regards Jim R.
  2. From Famous Quotes: Best combat mission moments: tecumseh 3) When Catnip beat Kiwijoe in about 5 turns. 2) When she did it again 1) When she then posted the reason for her second win was because she'd "just discovered the hunt command"</font>
  3. I do play the game but I don't spout off about my exploits as I believe in giving my opponents their due win, lose or draw. We'll see who gets the last laugh when you're playing a game you're relatively unfamiliar with. As to keeping a journal on this bulletin board... only on loud mouth types who revel in deliberately getting up the nose of fellow gamers. Regards Jim R.
  4. I believe K.J. you're forgetting about your felow countryman whose post appears at the top of this thread and who turned the tables on you in that challenge you had going. And there's also Cpl. Carrot in N.Z. etc, etc. without mentioning all the players you've yet to tackle in Oz. Regards Jim R.
  5. Michael, what exactly did you say to your companion there in the photo to cause that look of kill? If I had to guess, judging by the smug look on your face, I reckon you've just told him his wife is a good screw. P.S. I could add smilies but I'm sure you'll take it as it was intended. Regards Jim R.
  6. Hi Mike. I'm reasonably confidant that Tabpub and I can finish our Head for the Hills game before the 30 September deadline. There are only 9 turns to go now with files being exchanged every day and we're planning to try and knock off a few on Sunday, all going well. Regards Jim R.
  7. I wouldn't hold your breath Titan. You'd probably asphyxiate! Regards Jim R.
  8. Better art cost more $$$, I'd rather have a quality game than a crappy game with good artwork.</font>
  9. Thank you Fionn & Andrew for that information about the T34, very enlightening. At least now I'll know how best to tackle them in future, and on the flip side, how best to handle them when playing the Soviets. Regards Jim R.
  10. Yes, I found that out too with the Pak 36's but why is that? Surely the frontal armour of a T34 is superior to its side armour? I couldn't beleive it when I was getting "fair" chances for a kill when firing at it frontally yet "poor" or worse when firing at its side aspect.   BTW, I did manage to get a Major Victory as the Germans the first time I played it but there wasn't much left of my foces by the end with no AT guns or HMG's left. 11. Is it just me who thinks that German soldier on the road walking into that Soviet ambush in the cover art looks like he's practising his goose step? I couldn't stop laughing when I first saw it. Why is that the art for some really good games seems to let it down. Another example was the art to Close Combat II with that awful looking GI looking back over his shoulder with the bridge over the Rhein as the background. YUCK! Personally, I'd suggest simply commissioning Roger MacGowan for all the art work associated with any newly released quality wargame to try and ensure consistency and have the advertising at least live up to the content. Obviously all the above is purely my personal opinion but I really think some improvements are in order when it comes to the artwork. And no, I'm no relation of Roger MacGowan's either. 12. Thanks for the offer C.C.. I'm hoping Mike will take up your offer because we're on the last bleedin' turn & it would be good to finish it. Regards Jim R.
  13. I'm with you AO. I think it's not unreasonable to request the old CMBO method of scrolling around the map be allowed in the full version using some sort of toggle command. I'm hoping it wouldn't be too hard to programme and will included down the track. As for your query about the demo, I haven't found a way yet to revert to the old method but I'll keep trying! Regards Jim R.
  14. I agree wholeheartedly with the final sentence of yours, but in my case I need to drop the last word to be on the mark. Regards Jim R.
  15. Jeez Rob, I'm doing my best. Unfortunatley I'll be moving house this weekend & I'm not hopeful the phone will be connected until next Tuesday. Fingers crossed my pleading with our local monopolistic telco will produce a speedier result. Just don't bet on it that's all. Regards Jim R.
  16. What....actual, real life Bren tripods or threads about actual, real life Bren tripods? Regards Jim R.
  17. Got it thanks and have sent the file to Mike. BTW, it didn't go as well as I hoped but you can't have everything can you. Regards Jim R.
  18. Now there's a suggestion that's bound to take off. I have absolutely no bloody idea what this means. Is it the equivalent of Internet jive talking? Where's Jar Jar Binks when you need him (which is basically never) A rhetorical question I'd suggest. Regards Jim R. [ September 11, 2002, 06:30 AM: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
  19. Nope, I'm at work now. The return file should be back to you in about 4 hours from the time on this message. Edited message to explain that I had assumed your file was already in my Inbox when I returned home today but it wasn't there Rob. Would you mind sending file number 60 again? BTW, thanks H for sending that on. Regards Jim R. [ September 11, 2002, 06:14 AM: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
  20. Hi H. I sent my return file direct to Mike last night (10th). Hopefully a return file is winging its way to you shortly. Regards Jim R.
  21. Come on H, wake up! I'm ready for Mike's file, just make sure you send it to the "jimbo" email address, thanks. Regards Jim R.
