  1. Thanks for the notice! I'll probably have the same problem once I get to install the patch. Problem is there isn't enough space on my C drive to install CMBB to start with... (But my entire F drive is devoted to CM only!) Edited: Downloaded the patch to drive G and installed directly from there without trouble. 2. All vehicles can cross water. Just use bridges or shallow fords... Cheers Olle
  3. All "independant vehicles are treated as "HQs" wíthin the game engine. They're not supposed to actually have any bonuses though. Cheers Olle
  4. Ideally, yes, and only for divisional and higher artillery. - Battalion and regimental artillery was no more than single batteries. - When artillery within range wasn't abundant, like for defenders in "calm" sectors, it was common to distribute resources in battery strength. Cheers Olle
  5. Typical CM battles don't start in the middle of high intensity action, but with the short moves leading to action, right? This mean that both sides have some kind of battle plan that haven't had much chance to go FUBAR (yet), right? With CMBB we're allowed to let loose our artillery plan right away, using pre-planned fire missions. At the same time the grunts and vehicle drivers, that at the same time are just as well aware of the general idea for their part of the upcoming battle as well as their intended moves and actions, are subject to order delays that can be quite annoying if they are supposed to move along a winding route (with several waypoints). I am fully aware of the previous discussion regarding the new system for order delays, and generally agree that the new system is better. My only wish is that all orders plotted during the first order phase (and only then) have zero delay by default, and movement orders may be delayed several minutes in the same way as pre-planned arty missions. Any changes to the orders later on are of course subject to normal time delays. Comments? Cheers Olle
  6. So if the FFE hit just 100m off target, how far off were the spotting rounds? Cheers Olle
  7. I had an experience in a scenario that shall remain unnaimed; I had a couple of ATRs shooting for several turns at a (green) T-26. The T-26 was on a road that it couldn't leave due to terrain constraints. The road ran diagonal to the ATRs LOF. The ATRs scored at least twenty penetrating hits, resulting in a panicked crew but no casualties. No attempt was ever made by the crew to withdraw the tank to safety or to leave the tank. To me it seem strange that they never hit reverse when receiving penetrating incoming fire from at least one hidden weapon. (In CMBB tanks often reverse when taking larger calibre fire...) 8. The 75mm howitzer in the game has characteristics close to the 75L18 mountain gun, used by mountain divisions. Another common 75mm artillery piece was the FK40, a PaK40 on a carriage that allowed high trajectories. These were mainly used by cavalry divisions. Cheers Olle
  9. The key is Q to get the timer delay. P will only add the normal few seconds order delay to movements. Cheers Olle
  10. The MDMPs are for CMBO only. Other than that the best advice I can give is to judge for yourself what you consider being a "good" mod. It's all up to personal preferences. Cheers Olle
  11. To answer your questions in order: "No", "none" and "not applicable". Cheers Olle
  12. I don't beleive in such a modpack, simply because there are too many good mods out there. When the MDMPs were created they were almost the only stuff available, and most of the original textures of CMBO really needed a replacement. Cheers Olle
  13. I've got the same experience as Esper. With higher resolution than 1024x768 on a 17" CRT monitor the text and most other stuff get too small for my liking. Cheers Olle
  14. The very simple solution: Use the old HDD in the new computer. Thus no need to transfer anything. Almost as simple: Use the old HDD as "slave" in the new box. Gruesome slow process: Zip your entire mod directories into an archive made up of 1.38MB chunks, and then use floppy disks to transfer it all onto your new drive. Cheers Olle
  15. From what I've understood it could, sort of. The turret was back heavy, so it wanted to point the gun up slope. I suppose it was possible to turn the turret in that direction. To be able to do a full rotation I recall the maximum hull slope allowed was about two degrees from horisontal. Cheers Olle
  16. This is a weekend bump of this thread. I won't bump it again. Promise... Cheers Olle
  17. They're there, but only late in the war after the "liberation" of Poland. Cheers Olle
  18. Try http://www.mapsymbs.com/. It's supposed to have exactly what you want, but I can't reach the server at the moment and the link might be out of date. Cheers Olle
  19. What makes you think they replaced any bullets? I'd rather say they simply loaded the empty belts, using as many tracers they had available or felt proper. I remember this from my own time in the army. The platoon's 7.62mm weapons were two LMGs and two ranging guns (mounted on top of the ATGs). The ranging guns were semi-automatic and used tracers only. In live fire exercises the ranging guns were usually used instead of the main gun, primarily in order to save money. The problem was that 7.62mm ammo was available in packs for "rifle" squads only. A rifle squad equipped mostly with 7.62mm assault rifles and the odd LMG, that is. What we wanted was close to a 1:1 relation between tracers and regular FMJ, what we got was 1:20. Needless to say we rarely had more than every ten round a tracer for the MGs. Cheers Olle
  20. Hi, I've just revived a Swedish (Nordic) homepage about CM, CMBO, CM2 and CMBB. Hej, jag har återupplivat Combat Mission, Nordiskt forum. En svenskspråkig hemsida, numera primärt inriktad mot dem som är dåliga på engelska. See you there! Cheers Olle

  22. For my Triple Battle idea (linked in my sig) I'd use the next level up for easy-to-come-by extras. A battalion would thus get extra stuff from the same regiment. Other divisional units would be added on a request/need basis. Most important is to not mix similar assets from different organisational units. Example: If they get tanks, all tanks are from the same platoon/company/battalion/regiment (depending on the amount), and no assault guns or tank destroyers are used. Cheers Olle
  23. These are a mix of common acronyms used on the net, military acronyms and CM-specific acronyms. MLR = Main line of resistance AAR = After action report HT = Halftrack ATG = Antitank gun FT = Flamethrower TRP = Target reference point QB = Quickbattle Any other? Cheers Olle
  24. You don't have a bow MG. There's a flame thrower in that position, and it obviously doesn't have a line of fire to the target... Cheers Olle
