  1. And bloody good 'uns they are, too! Glad you're still in the game. Good scenarios and many thanks from those of us out here who still play alone in the middle of the night... A Lili Marlene to all of you.
  2. Any idea when? I received an empty package and am awaiting its replacement...
  3. I bait with waited breath! My original copy got "lost" in the post and I'm eagerly awaiting its replacement.
  4. There is quite a large difference between respecting the Waffenn SS grunts who fought for their country and openly admiring a virulently anti-Semitic psychopath who delighted in the vicious torture and death of non-combatants. It's not cool. It's skinhead syndrome. Nazi sympathies are not "cool" except among the circle-jerk white-right-neo-cults. If he doesn't know who Heydrich was then he's too stupid or too sociopathic to be allowed to post here. To use Heydrich's name is an insult to the memory of millions who died because of his ilk. We cannot let this sort of thing pass un-commented. If we do, then we are part of the problem. We must never, ever tolerate Nazi sympathies to rise again.
  5. B oring U niversally M indless P alaver And so, about that 1.02 update...
  6. Found a site for what looks like refurbished GDW games - Critical Hit - wondered if anyone still plays these games today? Sure brings back memories...
  7. I find I have to disable the XP firewall for a lot of games. Problems connecting. If you disable it, close any browser or email apps and make sure your AV software is running.
  8. "...Is there any way to make a mod of the USA, Brits, Pols, French, and Canadians for cm2 " Were Canadians at the Eastern Front? Dag nab it, I must have missed that in my reading! And Americans too! And Limeys! Who'd a thunk it? Whose side were they fighting on? Wait a sec - I know... they were members of the International Brigade from the Spanish Civil War who fled to the USSR after Franco won... Okay, just kidding. Canadians never fought for the USSR. We just adopted some of their politics... There were some Spanish, Poles, Norwegians and even French on the German side. But they can be reasonably well simulated in the game, if not exactly. There were Russians on the German side and Germans on the Russian side, too... but for my taste, the game is rich enough without needing that much more detail. And none of them made that much difference. Whereas the Poles fighting for the USSR had a real effect (are they included in CMBB? not sure...) so they ought to be in the game.
  9. Yes we are. As in mechanical balers, rolls, etc. Sorry...
  10. Hmmm... weren't the Germans too tidy to leave unsightly hay stacks lying around littering their fields? When did people start baling their hay? Is this just a N AM thing? Any ideas?
  11. Er... I wanna review scenarios, but... aside from the usual whine about time... and quality moments with the wife... I want to play more to better understand and be able to comment on balance, game flow, historicity, etc. First time with a scenario isn't enough to comment cogently. I need a few more games under my belt and then I have to play the scenario in questions several times, from all sides before I can squeak up. That takes time. Had CMBB since December. Give me another month or two and I'll be happy to add my $0.02. But right now I'm still working my way through what came on the CD. And then I'll be posting my own and you lot better review them too!
  12. Wasn't the turret crank on the KV series so large that it was placed on the outside? Crews had to open the hatch, jump out and turn this giant wheel the size of an oxcart wheel. It was geared to make turning the huge - and heavy - KV turret somewhat easier for the average tanker, but it took about 1,000 revolutions to turn the turret a mere 10 degrees. Working the wheel at 10 turns a minute meant the turner could move the turret 10 degrees in as little as 10 minutes. To reverse the turret direction, the turner had to bend under the wheel and bang a large lever hidden under the turret edge in order to reset the turret gear clutch. Later models had a seat bolted to the back to include an outboard turner who rode into battle and turned the turret in response to commands. The crew inside signalled to the outboard turner by a series of taps on the turret wall, banging first the direction, followed by the number of degrees to turn. The turner would execute the movement, then reply back by tapping on the turret when it was completed. This is simulated in CMBB, but not modelled in the images due to limitations in polygon display technology. So the turning KV turret and subsequent shot sounded something like this: Bang! Bang!... ... ... Bang bang bang...Tap tap tap tap...Bang! Creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak creak ... 13. Hmmm. Seen it happen too... when there's a bridge or river to impede its units, the AI's vehicles sometimes just stop... Your victory flags placed in sites the AI can reach?
  14. Is it wise to ask What the hell is this thread all about??? Or should I just shake my head, mumble something about people with too much time on their hands, and stumble off to continue my entrouncement in a PBEM game? This entire Peng thing makes a George Bush speech seem logical and coherent. After trying to figure this thing out, I'm ready to attack Iraq all on my own!
  15. One of the differences is that you get a weapon - an MG - with a bunker for the cost, and with a trench, you have to fill it with warm bodies and/or guns. So it's not exactly apples and apples we're talking here. But trenches are certainly handy little boogers. Hmmm... let's see... a trench in front of a bunker.... nasty combination. Could make the attacker think fire is still coming from the bunker even when it's knocked out... And put some barbed wire in front of the trenches... hard to get close to! Uh... what's the visibility through barbed wire? Does it impede view or fire? Hope not.
