  1. I was also intrigued by the scenarios offered there after jpinard's post last week. But, as Henri pointed out -every scenario I loaded crashed my system. too bad -they look really great. ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  2. I got sick of digging all the time for the original thread, so I'm starting a new one. How does everything look right now. I'm half way through two games and just starting the third (tss if you read this, I'm waiting). Is our group (A) falling behind? Are any of the groups finished? Can we have an unofficial look at how things stand? ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  3. Yes -I know it's a serious topic. And yes, this thread will probably be locked up for bringing up old news, but the thread "a little help" was one of the funnies things I've read all day. I kept reading and reading waiting for why it was being locked -and then his last post -what a punchline! My eyes almost popped out of my head! rotflmao!!! man, SOMEBODY stumbled into the wrong forum. ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  4. Next time it happens, check the units that are bouncing around. If they are the GREY "sound contact" or "light armour?" type units, that means that, indeed, your troops know there's a truck (tank?) around here somewhere but won't know for certain until they get a visual sighting -maybe behind that hill, or in that group of trees,or -no wait, around that bend in the road, or....
  5. The day was cold and damp, much like today. My aging grandfather took me on his knee, looked me right in the eyes and said those words that have stayed with me to this day -emblazened on my brain like a titanium branding iron: "Waypoints." he said. At the time, I didn't know what he meant, or why he was telling it to a 6 year old. But with the wisdom that comes with age (and Combat Mission) I now know the truth -he was senile. ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  6. hey, what happened to my smilie? ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  7. you should get a hold of mensch and see if he'll let you use his snowstormtrooper mod ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it." [This message has been edited by Jadayne (edited 09-22-2000).]
  8. hey, I just bookmarked your site. very cool. I especially like the idea of a "map" section to download historical maps. good on ya' ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  9. "I figure it should give you a real sense of the different battles of WWII and how Germans were shot" -pham911 lol ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  10. *poot* but while I'm here, I'm now taking bets as to when the Not So Superbowl thread reaches 10,000 posts. The winner receives a new copy of "Combat Mission 14, Beyond Podunk" which will concentrate on small scale tactics on the homefront of New Jersey approximately six years after WW2 ends. Scenarios currently being tested include: 1. going out to get the mail 2. buying a Newspaper 3. going shopping 4. hiring a babysitter 5. *bonus operation*: the office christmas party. Steve and Charles (and matt and dan) are being very tightlipped about the new AI features, but promise that they'll be full of the kind of "edge of your seat" action prevalent in the early '50s. We can only wait and see. So place your bets now and get a chance to win this soon to be classic. (help, I have too much time on my hands) ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  11. it's one of the dreaded SS snowstorm troopers ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  12. "Some of the TRUE NAMES are BIG MACS and some are SMALL FRIES. Much larger points are awarded for exposing the BIG MACS, but some points are available for SMALL FRIES. BIG MACS are famous people on the Internet--people that no one would expect have snakes and tentacles, or have media stories written about them. Massive points are awarded for BIG MAC exposures." what the hell does this signature mean? ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  13. "most people ignore me anyhow" -mensch what? did you say something? ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  14. I'm a computer operator here at NORAD. When nobody's looking, I shut down the Los Angeles Missile defence grid and devote the entire mainframe to PBEMs. I currently have 373,454 games going simultaneously. Sometimes, on a slow day, I'll shut down Salt Lake City as well and play Diablo II. (who needs Utah?) To my opponents -please zip your files. You keep crashing the system and leaving the entire free world defenseless while I reboot.
  15. while we're on the subject, why did kamikazee pilots wear helmets at all?
  16. in principle that works, but what if you wanted them hiding, or locating enemy troops. Both of these actions are severely hampered if you're pacing back and forth on the battlefield counting to 15 mississippi. Nothing major, just one of those little niggles that annoys me every now and then when my sherman gets popped because I couldn't get him to stand still for 15 seconds. ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  17. my only problem with pauses is that I'd still like to be able to use them mid-turn. I can't see why it would be so unrealistic to tell your troops to "go up to that ridge, wait a few seconds and then go over" or "pop out of those trees, scan the ridgeline and shoot anything that moves (pause) and then pop back under cover." ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  18. I DO TOO HAVE A GIRLFRIEND! she's ...uh, Canadian. You wouldn't know her. I met her in Niagra Falls. ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  19. Actually, it doesn't, seeing as though I havent' even SEEN your army yet -let alone gotten into any serious combat with them. I assume they're all in that copse of trees eating frogs legs and drinking cheap wine. You, my friend, are spending entirely too much time on this forum reading newbie advice -such as "hide your entire army behind a hill, wait 30 turns, then go home" not that I should've expected any more from a frenchman. Come out and fight dammit!!!!! ------------------ "Well then private, it must be sh*t. Good thing we didn't step in it."
  20. Good! Cardinal Fang -Fetch me the comfy chair!

  22. There's definitely a thread on here listing all the german .wav files with translations. I can't remember what it's called however, but I think it was pretty recently. I was wondering if there was one for all the french and polish .wavs as well.
