  1. Crap. I think I just voted for Pat Buchanon as best game of the year. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. 2. Gaff! where the hell have you been? And where the hell's my file?! ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  3. cool. got a mac version yet? ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  4. okeedokee. You guys win. I'm installing the new patch as we spe...-*crash* ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. 5. I'm not really worried that the tweaks work and all, it's just that, as MadMatt warns in his read me, this patch hasn't been completely tested and probably shouldn't be used on a computer with important information on it. I play at work usually, so I can't really imagine explaining to my boss why the G4's hard drive has frozen just 'cause I wanted to play games. I assume the only iffy bits are with the TCP/IP, so I was just wondering if I installed the patch and didn't use TCP/IP, would I be lessening a risk that, otherwise, I can't afford to take. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  6. If I install the patch but don't utilize the TCPIP feature, do I negate some of the risk of using a possibly buggy patch, or should I just wait until the final version comes out. I want the tweaks and fixes, but don't wanna risk losing what's on my hard drive just for tcp/ip. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  7. Amen to that. It's my guess that by the time CM 4 is released, we'll all look back and have a bit of a chuckle at how archaic CM 1 seems to be. Then it will be time for CM 5 "Beyond Beyond Overlord" just to go back and bring this theatre of operations up to par. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  8. If you .zip your files, he should be able to open them using stuffit expander. when he returns the files, he shouldn't have to compress them at all. This system has always worked for me on cross platform play. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. 9. hey, thanks boys. good time last night. I don't know when I'll get internet access until I get back, so, until then...cheers. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  10. Hey, I'm in London! Just thought I'd pop in for a minute to see who was still here. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  11. um, mensch, could you then send me my turn before this streak ends? I always play to take at least the main flag any closeby ones. If I have the resources left over, I go for other flags. I always play that the main flags are primary objectives and the smaller flags are secondary. similarly, as cueball poetically points out, if you chose to defend only the main victory location and left one flag unguarded, would that also constitute unrealistic play? I don't think so. but that is, of course, just my opinion. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  12. menchie m'boy, you don't have to do that. the AI will do it automatically in a turn or two anyway. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  13. I was kind of wondering when someone would bring that up. BIG 30. (I guess the kids can't trust me anymore) ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. 18. Well, today's my birthday and I've got to work till the wee hours because I've got a business trip to london all next week. So, in the absence of a real social life, I'm making this thread my party. You guys are all invited. (I hope someone comes) ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  19. hey Gaff, just make sure you zip the files ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
  20. You are REWARDED by performing a successful withdrawal. These are the guys in the AAR that come up "OK" even though you have 150 "captured" troops. As such, they don't figure into your opponent's score as killed or captured. A successful withdrawal is therefore both a sound tactic and not at all gamey, since, if you're simply running backwards off the map, withdrawing troops will likely be gunned down anyway. ------------------ "I'm the Quarterback. I make the plays. You back the plays I make." -Harvey Keitel to his adopted son in the movie "Dusk til Dawn" (about 3 hours before they're both ripped apart and eaten alive by vampires)
