  1. Does he have a router separate from the DSL box? My experience is that DSL comes with its own 'box', and a router placed in front of it needs to be 'bridged' to get the most of it. If he is leasing his router from Verizon, he can stop wasting his money, and just go buy one - I am fond of the Linksys WRT5g series, but it really does not matter.
  2. Yes, we need to return to the height of the trust busting days. Unfortunately, this crisis has made it worse - Bank of America and Wachovia here in NC have scooped up failed brokerage houses. Some thoughts on spin; As the gov't assumes these mortgages, aren't they recorded as assets? And, I understand that China and others own a lot of this mortgage as part of their investments / banking; so would this not bring some of the debt back?
  3. But, John, in all fairness, I was asking you to leave - not telling you - offering my opinion, nothing more. If my opinion is that you are a loon and I dislike you and your lies, well that is my opinion, right? Am I not entitled to it the same as you, or are you so perceptive and so superior, that the rules are only yours? I think you are insulting - and that is my opinion - by your assumptions and your high handed style. It is the same courtesy you ask of me - and further I suggested other avenues to spread your gospel. This forum is limited for you, don't you see that? Blogging is a very good way to spread your message, and you can make money from it. Ning is a a free method to create your own social group, with Forums, inherent blogging, pictures, etc...very powerful stuff. Your message, by your own statements, is too big, too important, to be limited to this NOT globally viewed forum - you might reach 50 people here with your messianic need, of which most find it insane drivel. The methods I proposed would only help, not hurt, your mission to 'get the truth out' as you see it. If you truly believe in your 'mission', are you not robbing the greater good by limiting your sermons to this irreverent little corner of the web? I also believe I have stated many times that when I was younger I subscribed to your world view - well, it is not yours, but something very similar - I read and spoke of it all long ago, and then I came to the conclusion that it was all made up garbage designed either to make money or the rantings of crazy people, so I shifted my view. So to say I have not considered it at all is plain wrong - you just failed to remember what I have told you before. I have also praised several times your more solid research on other things that are 'conventional reality' based. So, my asking you to leave is my wish; my calling your earthbopping stuff and conspiracy theories as crazy rantings guided by made up research ar opininion - just like yours. So, if you wish me to consider your opinion that the world is full of crazy ignorant people who don't see things the way you do, then allow my opinion that singles out a minority, often of one, as equally if not far more ignorant. Quid Pro Quo - you know that phrase, right?
  4. Yah, know John you are right. I am out of line asking you to leave. Your judgment calls on my attention needs are every bit as wrong as my calling you a nut case, so don't think of yourself as some super genius who is above it all. Have fun!
  5. Kettler, you have just about ruined this forum with this endless running drivel. Would you please take it elsewhere? Have you ever heard of blogging? How about Ning, so you can create your own social network for this need of yours?
  6. A buddy has bought this game, and we played the intro firefight 4 times last night. The game is great - because of the high level if interactivity, it plays like a computer game; actions are intertwined; it's like a knife fight, fast, brutal and chaotic. Basically, units get Action Points, and the Scenario gets Command Action Points. CAPs can be spent to activate units, modify combat die rolls, and the start of each turns initiative roll. Units 'activate' one at a time, player alternating. When done, they flip to the finished side. Activation can be a combination of actions, as long as you have the APs. Each unit gets 7 APs inherent. A Russian squad typically takes 1 AP to move a hex (with modified costs based on terrain). It costs 4 APs to fire, so a typical Russian Squad can fire once, move 3. German squad cost 3 to fire, so they could fire twice, move once - etc. A Russian MMG costs 3 to move a typical hex, a German LMG crew just 1. A unit gets a defense value inherent to it modified by facing and terrain, a typical squad being 11/12; 11 flanked (rear three hexes) and 12 frontal, modifed by terrain -woods is 2, for example. Units fire with 2D6 plus the units firepower, range modified, and CAP modified, a unit could have up to two CAPs added to it. A typical German squad has 3 firepower. So, if the German Squad rolled a 10, added 3 for firepower at a Russian Squad in light woods (+1 terrain), we get 13 vs 13 - a hit. The hit unit drops a 'damage chit' from a cup; anything from almost no effect to KIA can happen. Should a unit get two hits, it is dead. Units can rally to remove hit chits. A typical one might be 7 or 8 on the hit chit to rally, and requires an equal to or higher roll to rally. If a hit roll is greater than a 3 difference for the attacker, the defending unit takes 2 hits, killing it. While the active enemy unit moves, you can opportunity fire, but should you do that, you get flipped to inactive. However you could play CAPs to spend APs outof sequence as a reaction move, and avoid flippage. As you see, CAPs are a valuable resource. The result is a game that is highly interactive - and I swear it plays as if it were a computer game. That is it in a nutshell. Its simplicity is not any indication of inadequacy -and indeed makes it possible to buy and play within 30 minutes, and can be taught to a young child, and enjoyed by the hardest grog. As to physical quality - it is correct to say that NOTHING exceeds it in quality of production. If you do any board wargaming, you can do no wrong buying this game.
  7. "Oh, and you get the agitprop award for deliberately stirring up trouble!" 20 dollar word for those with a superiority complex. You are stirring the pot, buddy. The trouble you feel is the splatter from the soup you are overheating. Rock soup.
  8. "Am talking trips to the emergency room for mitral valve prolapse, headaches codeine won't touch, balance interference, vision problems, speech problems, memory problems, problems walking at all, sleep disruption, digestive disruption, acute weakness, difficulties concentrating, difficulties remembering and more, singly or in combination before a seismic or volcanic event occurs. Sometimes, the symptoms can last for a very long time as a result of the slow quake phenomenon. Pain intensity can be from nil to hope to die, over small areas to the entire body. " Sounds to me like, and this is my opinion (and the unspoken opinion of others), hypochondria. We also notice your tack, or attack here. 'You can't challenge this as I am all knowing on these matters and you are just a worm.' Surely, John, you can be more rational than this. Your obvious intelligence seems masked by some madness... Wait, the Earth tremors below my feet...the envelope is at my head...John is going to threaten me...Yep, its pretty clear, my funny bone is aching...
  9. "Further, I'm generating it on the fly, not pondering it for days on end, comparing notes with colleagues, etc." Well, as admission it is all made up...
  10. I only know this site because of a Kettler saga from days gone bye...someone impersonated me there (they have ZERO security, anyone can post as anyone) and then Kettler trashing me on this forum (and that one) for something I did not do - and they did the same thing to Wicky as well. Kettlerian Research isn't. Kettler did apoligize though, but it came back up again, and the whole cycle started over.
  11. ya had to ask, Mike... http://earthboppin.net/talkshop/feelers/ And, an even better name for a strip club; http://www.volcaniceruptions.net
  12. I've been a mason. Hard work. One needs to understand the relationships of Portland Cement, Sand, water, and temperature. It is a finely balanced conspiracy to hold walls up or have a nice brick veneer that will last for a long time and not be subject to calcium stains and deterioration. My latest home Masonry project was to lay some bricks for a short garden wall, and I have some failed Mason Joints that need patching on a retaining wall that is about 50 years old.
  13. Well, FoxNews chimes in on this; http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,424303,00.html
  14. "pretending it's "...all sound and fury, signifying nothing." No need to pretend, it is all hooey - do you watch Fringe, the new Fox X-files gone mainstream show?
  15. The Internets - the only place to find The Truth .
  16. It's Sharks with FREAKING lasers carve out the bottom of glaciers - get it? The Bat Rastards know that if they flood the world's continents, they will have loads of Fresh Meat and not so Fresh Meat.
  17. It's....like....we....are...getting....Mooned...
  18. The only forum I visit here, now, is the GF. Only one product line interests me - the CM line, and I have already bought those, and a couple of Player's guides. I tried some other products after I bought them - ToW and Strategic Command. Did not like either of them. For me, BF is good for 4 things; the General Forum and CMBO, CMAK, and CMBB. The rest; not for me. But, hey, if you take down the GF, that is OK with me. Dosomefink is a fine place to be, and since I boardgame most of the time now, CSW and SCSW fill a niche.
  19. Yes, too many Special Announcements and none are Special. Great Point.
  20. I hate SPAM. It tastes awful, looks like the remains of an alien Autopsy, and is unnecessary. Even worse, part of my job is to build Bayesian Filters and monitor our own SMTP traffic for SPAM bots who eat up time, storage space, and the patience of my users. Fortunately, barracudas enjoy a healthy diet of SPAM, and do a fine job of munching it down. Now if we could just get rid of ConSPAM, I will be very pleased.
  21. I support John on this; "That psi exists has long been proven." Each of my car tires takes 35 psi.
  22. That stuff - I hardly notice it; Down Arrow with Right Pinky Finger takes care of it.
