  1. Hardly...no one has any 'moral' edge on this - all the actors and the entire production stinks, though Vlad might be worse, having used this incident to threaten its ex Warsaw Pact 'friends' with a Nuclear Attack.
  2. Bush started it - Putin said so. http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/08/28/russia.georgia.cold.war/index.html
  3. BigDuke6 - impressive. What do you do for a living? Obama might need you in his new cabinet....
  4. "The only thing this conflict is doing in the U.S. is helping McCain in the polls." No doubt Bushies rhetoric is helping too...and Condi's ... and Mevdeved.
  5. ""delivering humanitarian aid to Georgia" (which needs it alot less than some media would have us think, BTW)" No doubt - our aid is posturing.
  6. Bogan - that is the second time today I have run into :almost: that word. Bogon I heard for the first time today - I am not a Network guy, so this term was alien to me; The term "bogon" stems from hacker jargon, where it is defined as the quantum of "bogosity", or the property of being bogus. A bogon packet is frequently bogus both in the conventional sense of being forged for illegitimate purposes, and in the hackish sense of being incorrect, absurd, and useless: see Quantum bogodynamics. =============== Quantum bogodynamics - a fascinating 'science'.
  7. You probably can't get a Destroyer into Charles City, Va, but just down the Roads, you will find a BB, CVs, LSTs, etc, etc. One port in a place lined with hundreds of ports is not a good judge of all the ports. Are you sure he wasn't talking about other 'Soviet Seas', like the Caspian or that heavily poisoned and industrial/agriculturally drained one further East - Aral Sea?
  8. While doing a little Black Sea research I came across this handy tool; flooding based on depth in meters charting thingy: http://black.sealevel.ca/floodmap.htm
  9. http://blacksea.orlyonok.ru/e2.shtml Salinity - "The reduced salinity is the most important environmental factor influencing marine biodiversity in the Black Sea: " Depth - "Bottom relief of the Black Sea Black Sea is deep; central area of its bottom is an abyssal plain at 2000m depth, covered by silt sediments, it is an accumulation area of the basin. Maximal depth of the Black Sea is 2210m" Black Sea shelf is a low gradient underwater slope to 100-150m depth; the shelf narrow (1-2.5km) at the mountainous coasts of the Black Sea (Caucasus, Crimea, Anatolia). The shelf is terminated by the abrupt (up to 20-30ะพ) basin slope to the basin apron area with depths over 1000m. An exclusion is the shallow Nor-Western part of Black Sea all belonging to the shelf zone; actually it is not a part of the Black Sea hollow.
  10. My pre-orders at GMT and Wargamedopt are breaking the wargame budget. I have 4 due this month! Conflict of Heroes looks enticing, but I recently got burned on another hyped up game (Blackbeard), and this one is, so far, almost all hype. Like you, I want simpler than ASL. LnL's offerings don't quite click with me.
  11. So, this was a giant raid on Wal-Mart's sporting goods department?
  12. Nah, it is all GJK's fault! Battling Bastards Hateful Heroes Kill 'Em All Nazis vs Commies Two harsh in a PC world...I blame it on the whole piggy back a name theory - it all began with Band of Brothers - sounds lovely, and so peaceful like.
  13. COH is confusing - Conflict of Heroes is a Board Game. This is what GJK is talking about (and me). Company of Heroes is not our COH.
  14. You need to tell us how that game is. Lots of blab on the BGG, and an itchy finger here.
  15. Why do we even have a horse in this race? Why is the US concerned with Georgian security? Isn't this, well, stupid, and dangerous? BTW, I read somewhere that the Turks were holding up that ship passing through the straits, though it will take a long while to get there.
  16. A 'new' boardgame arrived two weeks ago - GMT's 'The Napoleonic Wars 2nd Edition'. High marks from the Eden War Room - we got into some multiplayer goodness and one 2 player trip through Europe. Great game - the Diplomatic game and the CDG nature makes it quite interesting, and no one at the table ever seems to have nothing to do. If you are looking for a great 2-5 player game, TNW is a great.
  17. Oh, now it is a new thread. 1. It would last a long time in their. 2. It would so piss off the Russians. 3. Kiss world peace goodbye. I don't think we are going to do that; it would be one hell of a risk. Too dangerous and irresponsible. Besides, we have Turkey, don't we? And Romania, Bulgaria and others to work with and/or object.
