CM T-shirt slogan - help needed!
Wittmann replied to Wesreidau's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
What about the much lamented cry... Noooooo!!!!! I use it 5 or 6 times a turn  -
Salutations Blackhorse! I too have noticed european rivers are dark, but most definately muddy...if you can see 6 inches below the surface, it';s a bloody miracle!
-
PS. you only get to use this name when you can ace the Villers-Bocage scenario, and OP
-
Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. If you're gonna use my name please spell it right ...thats MICHAEL....or more correctly, the German spelling is MICHEL. If you run to the limit for your infantry, the HMG teams won't keep up and you'll lose your fire support.

Sorry to confound the myth, But here in the UK Dentistry is a 5 year degree course . This qualifies the holder to perform minor oral surgery, restorations, diagnoses of oral conditions, and prescribe drugs...just like a regular doctor. Contrary to popular belief, dentists are professionals who actually care about their patients welfare and strive to do their best. Then again, I might just be biased Dr. Wittmann BDS

Have MG's changed much since World War Two?
Wittmann replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
The Bundeswher ( sorry for the spelling! ) Currently use the MG3. This differs form the MG42 in small details only. If memory serves me correctly, It has had its rate of fire reduced from the 42's phenomenal 1200 rpm, to a more reasonable 950ish 7.62 NATO is merely a rimless metric version of the old .303 combined with 7.92 of WWII fame. The equally famous Bren (.303 rimmed case) now serves as squad LMG in 7.62 rimless form. It is now being replaced by the appaling SAW which is a sustained fire variant of the SA80 (Remember guys&gals, it was made by the lowest bidder ) Conclusion...the good ones are still with us. The bad ones are still in the cold dead fingers of the conquered... -
Of course, an inexperienced crew with a hunt command......engage atarget 30m away and commit suicide....it took blackhorse days to stop laughing at that!

New mod, but no pics because of controversial content.

Me too! andy@burgess0.freeserve.co.uk Thanks -
I've now play tested this a few times...It's best played as the Americans. If you play Axis, it can turn into a turkey shoot...rather like it did in reality. The point of playing this scenario, is to see if you are good enough to avert disaster!
-
Thanks for the info. I made the scenario directly from the text in the book. I have no actual maps so I cannot vouch for it's accuracy. It is based on the same incident as Wild Bills, but my interpretation is totally different, and the maps are completely different. Give it a try, you might like it!
-
The briefings are now complete, and the first revisions have been made. This will be tough to play from either side!
-
I've designed a scenario based on Belton Y Coopers book "Death Traps". It's nearly complete, with just the briefings to write. Task force Doan, part of 3rd Armored div, were advancing past Paderborn, home of the Panzer training school, when an ambush was sprung... Interested? reply to the post and I'll mail the file to the first few....If the reports are favourable, it'll get general release

For the sake of safety, this is on foot...the armour is just in our warped little minds. There's no excuses for unrealistic AI though! -
I meet up regularly with my CM buddy Wesreidau, for lunch (Meeting engagement!) We approach from opposite ends of town, assuming the role of tank commanders, and manouvre to get a 'shot' at the other. Last week I took him out with a shot from a hull down position. ( The wheelchair ramp outside the Bank ). Today I was hit from point blank after a badly judged move from cover between 2 buildings :-( Its a great way to sharpen up your street fighting tactics, and just seemed kinda natural for a couple of grogs like us.. Try it, it's harder than you think!

Sadly the Wittmann figure has a 'Blue Oyster Bar' leather hat, instead of the correct uniform item usually seen on his portraits.....sorry for being picky, Wesreidau
