  1. Send $45 to BTS and they will send you the manual, it's that simple.
  2. The BTS moderator has the authority to close the threads, and the reasons will vary (flamewars, topics that have been discussed to death, etc...) You become a member on your 30th post. Hope this helps
  3. One positive out of exchanges like that: people will bail from that site and come over here. It is our duty to welcome them and encourage their input.
  4. I wanted Ginger to win, And if not her then at least Mary ann... ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Airborne: Of course your kidding, right Howardb??? How could engineers possibly repair anything given the scale of this tactical game...?? How much do you think "anyone" could repair "anything" in 30-60 minutes???? Hey, You can work wonders with a couple of rolls of Duct tape. As a Field Engineer you should know this already. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  6. Do a search on "John Kettler", he was a step ahead of you on that Edit: here is the post, it was located in another forum. one.http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ubbmisc.cgi?action=sendthread&thread=http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/008055.html&Subject=New+Tiles+|AMP|+Models+I|APO|d+Lo ve+to+See [This message has been edited by Kingfish (edited 08-24-2000).]
  7. I've seen it, and can never nail down the reasons why. I've had entire games come in that way, other games it bounces back and forth (inside the e-mail, then as an attachment, then back) The only solution I can think of is to zip the file.
  8. Hey, this looks like a killer Mosh pit, so I'm jumping in... One thing that I haven't seen mentioned so far is the use of crews to guard prisoners. Some of us do not agree with this tactic, saying that it is unrealistic and therefore should be coded to prevent such use. However, consider this quote (ironically from a person who opposes the this use): <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>But, even for vehicle crews...I have been thinking... From what I have read it seems that 99% of the time individual ground pounders or at most a pair of men would be assigned to escort POWs to the rear. And it seems, if it was possible they would use the walking-wounded to escort the POWs on their way back to the aid station. BUT, you see, we can't do that. Walking wounded are IMO not modelled in CM (they are out of action) and we can't detach just one or two men to escort the POWs. So we either have to send an entire team (up to 6 men!) that could well out number the POWs ...or we can use vehicle crews to 'plug the hole'. I don't know, really. But like I said, if you can do it and no agreement is made beforehand it is all fair IMO.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> 1000 cool points to whomever can guess the person that said that. So you see, there is a use for crews after that have been "Dismounted". Gamey or not is up to you and your opponent. Now, If you are going to let the AI take control and exit the crews, or make them disappear altogether, then there should be provisions made to prevent prisoners from escaping. The AI should also exit them to the rear, same as crews. Otherwise you will be forced to guard one captured man with a half squad. Just my $2.00 (pre-tax) ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  9. I love a good debate, especially on company time <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>When one of my men gets shot, I have to pull up the screen to find out how many got killed from a grenade hit or whatever<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Take a company of troops, have them advance into combat, take incoming fire and losses, and then tell me how you are going to know how many men are still alive in squad F-3 just by looking at the number of bodies on the ground. You can't, so you still have to click on F-3 to find out, therefore the dead bodies serve no useful function. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Surely, a helmut or grave marker, or something can be put in it's place to give a better realism effect. Without this, infantry fighting really suffers<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> But will your infantry tactics suffer? And that is the whole point of playing the game. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>I think a lot of people would agree with me on this and will just go back to playing Close Combat to satisfy their needs.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Needs?
  10. Imagine the CPU hit in trying to display a couple of battalions worth of dead men after a 120 turn battle. It's almost too much for my computer to play one of those monsters, and that's with a 3-man squad representation.
  11. Ahh...sorry, I skipped over your previous post. My goof
  12. Fionn and Scott, As one member to another, Please drop it. It is a very simple request and I Know I speak for the majority when I ask it, so just drop it once and for all. Please don't respond with "he started it" or with reasons why things got to where they are. Believe me, we don't care. Just drop it. Thank you
  13. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>You don't want to get in a situation where you buy 2000 points worth of units and your prey buys 3000 without telling you<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't there limits in place that prevents that kind of abuse? I understand that the attacker gets a percentage above the defenders max, but I didn't think the difference would be that big. ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  14. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>You ordered your squads to advance on an unsuppressed enemy so what other result did you expect<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Here are a couple of results I'd expect: 1) Stop, turn to threat, fire (regular or better) 2) Stop, go to ground, seek cover (green) 3) Stop, turn around, haul ass (conscript) Unfortunately, The result I see all too often is the unit stroll into and past the threat, all the while being shot to pieces. ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  15. I found this a while back. Check it out. http://www.valourandhorror.com/DB/CHRON/home.htm ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  16. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>is there any way I can make sure he didn't give himself 5000 points and me only 1000?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The computer won't allow such a huge difference. When you pick a point value for a game (for example 1000 pts) this is the max which the defender get. The attacker will get a slightly larger total, that amount is dependant on whether it is an attack, assault, etc... <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>PS - What's the difference between "combined arms" and "mechanized."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Combined arms will feature troops and weapons from all sections (Infantry, support, arty, armor, and fortifications) while mecahnized will lean more towards mobile formations (no fortifications, more halftracks, etc...) Hope this helps ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  17. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Ok, I was playing a QB this morning. During set up I put a MG on the top floor of a building and set it to Hide. As soon as the playback of the first round started every enemy troop locked on and started firing at the “hiding” MG<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but did you have FOW turned off by mistake? ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  18. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Besides, where else but in Riverdance can you see a large collection of attractive Irish girls bouncing about a stage?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Well, there's this bar just down the road from me... ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...

  20. Try splitting squads when advancing thru covered terrain. Although it won't fix the problem of units walking into the fire, it will reduce your losses. ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  21. Parasite, Go to the top of this screen, click on "products" and go from there.
  22. Hello, I'm Sergio, from the U.S. And I too am a big fan of CM (who isn't) I can answer a few of your questions, but your best bet is the search function. It will have the answers to all the questions you have, and its' free! Ok,let's see... 6) No, because it's assumed that the captors disabled / confiscated the weapons. 7)Routed is the worst condition (apart from dead) that a unit can be. Now, I've gone beserk as have my opponents, but that's a different thing altogether. 8) The time scale of a typical CM game is to short for a unit to "upgrade". And to your final questions, Yes there are plans to continue the game into other theaters. The current plan is: CM2-Eastern front CM3-Med, Africa, Balkans CM4-Western front (early years) There is no plan to include the Pacific, but one never knows Hope this helps ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  23. Check out Hell's highway. You can download it from Moon's site: (http://www.gamesofwar.de/) ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
  24. Did you d/l it from a warez site? If so, I know of a way to get the manual. ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this... [This message has been edited by Kingfish (edited 08-17-2000).]
  25. My vote goes to Mike Hunkele. Go to Moon's site and you'll see he is a big contributor. ------------------ Wow, I've had the **** hit the fan before, but never like this...
