1. My only comment is that the maps based on SL maps seem a bit on the stark side compared to maps generated by the game or other sources. This is probably because SL/ASL are 2D games and CM is true 3D. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 2. I have the same system as you except that I have a TNT2 64 with 32 MB. The game runs great, but expect some slowdown in larger scenarios with all options turned on. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.

 5. In a year's time, someone needs to do a poll on how many divorces, separations and break-ups have taken place because of CM overuse. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 6. Want TCP/IP now if not sooner. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 7. I remember reading about the sniper duels in Enemy At the Gates. I'm happy to hear that a movie is being made based on this book which launched my interest in the Russian Front war. Hope they stick to the truth. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 8. Are you guys from down under anticipating CM North Africa so Austrialian units are depicted? Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 9. I may be mistaken, but wasn't the quick battle generator set up for play between human and computer? If you want to set more parameters you need to do a scenario design. Just wondering. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 10. I recently played a quick battle with heavy fog as Americans. I have two sqauds in two seperate buildings and bring up my third squad from behind. Bad move! The one squad is under fire from some Germans and thinks that the squad behind them is the enemy. They turn and fire at their own guys who decide to break and run for the rear. At the same time, a German squad rushes the American squad which just bugged out and they meet in some woods behind one of the houses. The Americans get slaughtered. Fun eh? What other wargame would model such an event? Man I love this game!!! Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 11. Got beat in Aachen playing as the Americans with the German AI set at 25% advantage. Try Col Klotz's "Bitche Salient" scenario as Americans. It's a kick. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Smirnoff: ok.. so it happend again and I think I know why.. 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Scorpion: I recently found out about this game because of its review on GameSpot. I've been playing wargames since Kampfgruppe way back when, and I am interested in purchasing CM. Is the only place to order it Battleground.com? I am also interested in learning how this game is doing, sales-wise. Does anyone know how successful it is? Thank you! -Scorp

If you like tactical wargames, such as Panzer blitz or ASL, you'll like Combat Mission. It combines the best in table-top wargames with the best in computer wargames. I suggest you download the Gold Demo from battlefront.com before ordering the full version as it will reveal any problems you might have with your computer. Be prepaired to enjoy yourself. 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: Hilmer, 1. Play CM before you start saying it can't do stuff. Most of what you mentioned is just flat out wrong. 2. Close Combat is about as realistic as... well... I guess I should keep my mouth shut on that one 3. Can't resist... CC's campaigns are a work of fication. Fun, perhpas, but realistic they certainly are not. 4. You said, "Working line of sight/fire without failures!". If you mean that CM has this, you are correct. If you mean that Close Combat has it... oh boy... And what the Hell is an "eval copy"? We have no such thing. Are you using a pirated copy? If so, please at least stop asking for help getting it to run. Cripes... Steve [This message has been edited by Big Time Software (edited 07-21-2000).]

Ditto! I have 3 squads in 3 different buildings when one of my squads turns and fires on another squad in its own platoon which has moved in behind. Meanwhile, one of the German squads across the street decides to charge the American squad that has been fired on by its own side. Well, this is just too much so the squad being fired upon decides to leave, kind of sudden like. Just as this irate squad bugs out, here comes the German squad and they run into each other in some woods behind the house. End of turn. I'll let you know what happens. Any other strange events happening in fog? Wayne.

Next turn: The American squad is all but wiped out, so this just wasn't their day. Moral- watch your own guys in the fog. Jees I love this game. Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 21. Be thankful that your units were that obedient. In the gold demo in CE, I had a platoon that kept insisting on charging hells bells across an open field toward a German machine gun rather than staying behind cover of a stone wall. I think that the Tac AI makes decisions based on local conditions but tries to obey commands. Personally I like this system, as it corrects my mistakes or responds to unexpected events. We still have to make our movement choices carefully, and I think this is the best way. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 22. When Gen. Bradley was interviewing troops that had just come out of the battle at Kassering Pass, he asked them about the halftracks and whether or not the German bullets could penetrate the armor. One young lad said " No sir. The bullets just come in one side, rattle around a bit and go out the other side". Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.

 25. So what can I say about CM now that I have played if for a couple of hours.. ZZzzzz.. ZZZzzz .. I’m not impressed, this is just another example of those games that would do better without 3D-graphics! I can't believe it! Any one who finds this game boring is no wargamer. CM is the best game I've ever played. The realism is beyond description. Have you even played the game?
