1. Moon: Looks great. I'll be visiting this site often in the future. I'm a map nut from way back. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 2. Thank you for the work and effort in producing what will be a ground breaking game system. I wish good success in the future of Combat Mission. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Toni_Top_Gun: I just had a thought yesterday when I played the CM demo. Wouldn’t be great to do a Napoleonics battle or a Civilwar battle based on the CM engine. With nicely rendered units marching around the battlefield. I know that there’s some 3D games out there that like SM Gettysburg, but I don’t give much for realtime games. It tends to be a click feast (and feels like and action game with no strategy what so ever in it).

Have you tried Talonsoft's Battleground Series? It's not CM, but they remind me of the old SPI CW games. The Gettysburg game noe goes for about $10.00. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 4. I saw it on the TGN website. Has anyone seen this type of responce to a game that is only in demo? There must be a half dozen websites at least out there and this for a game that isn't even on market yet. Amazing. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 5. You have my solumn promise;Wayne. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: That problem with support units marching ahead of Squads has been greatly reduced, but it still happens upon occasion. I'd say the AI is "fansastic" compared to other wargames, but obviously not "fantastic" when compared to a decent human player. And although we can, and will, improve the AI it will most likely NEVER be "fantastic" vs. a decent human player. Best we can hope for is making sloppy and inexperienced play be punished, which means you have to cross your "Ts" and dot your "Is" or you will pay a high price. Sigh... that is the reality of AI programming. Steve

After just five scenarios it has been my observation that the greater advantage you give the A/I the more aggressive it becomes. I've seen it do stupid as well as suicidal attacks. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 7. Since we're comparing games with games, in playing ASL ( long since neglected after I discovered CM ) I never used dismounted tank crews in the main battle unless they were defending themselves. Another point to consider is that in real life, serviving tank crews were too valuable to be lost in combat. They were needed to crew the replacement tanks. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Freyland: Hey Wayne, In a PBEM game I have going with Black Sabot, the Sherman crew bailed from their flaming tank then chased down and killed the panzershreck that trashed their tank! Of course, I had to make them do it, but that is half the fun. Jonathan

That makes sense. The Sherman crew had their stash of Calvados in that tank and the Germans just toasted it for them. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord my strength who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by grunto: at a high level the german security was worse. hitler had a top-level leak - 'lucy' if memory serves - and no one ever for sure figured out who it was. apparently this 'lucy' leak was one of the top 10 or 15 politicians or generals in germany; one of the 15 or so peope who met with hitler in really important meetings. perhaps in the field the allies' (at least western) security was worse. then the russians had sorge in tokyo who told him japan was going to attack america so stalin shifted more armies from siberia to the battle of moscow. andy

Anybody ever read A BODYGUARD OF LIES written sometime in the early 1970s? Very interesting take on the Enigma Machines, British special operations and the Allied deception program to throw Germany off the track concerning the invasion of France. There's probably newer works on the subject but this is the one book I have read on this subject.
 10. In CE I've seen dismounted Sherman crews fire pistols. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord our God who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 11. . Historically radios sucked, until arty or bad guys cut your field wire. Then radios sucked less. I guess it's in there!
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Manx: Welcome....be prepared to leave behind your friends, wife/girlfriend, your life!!.

I've already left off playing my other CD wargames. Thanks for the welcome. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord our God who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 13. I log on once a day but I spend 2-3 hours here. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord our God who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
 14. I just registered as a new member of this august body. I downloaded the Gold Demo two and a half weeks ago and proceeded to get blown away by this game. It's the best wargame out there. I am anticipating the arrival of my copy of CM with eagerness. ------------------ Blessed be the Lord our God who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
