  1. I don't know if this is related. Last night I played some British troops against Germans in a QB. I fired 20mm mortars at a half track for at least five turns, and nothing happened. The mortars never knocked out the half track. My troops were green though (I Random quality). In the end I tried sneaking a PIAT toward the HT, but it saw it coming and eliminated it.
  2. BTS, This probably was mentioned before, but it would be nice if we could set up reinforcements to show up randomly from one of a number of locations, e.g. North or South of the map instead of just from one set location. e.g. that would mean we could set up 2 or more Reinforcement 1 flags, and the computer would randomly decide, at the time reinforcements are slated to appear, which flag is the right one for that particular game. It would add an element of surprise in some scenarios. It would be nice too if we could make them enter as a column / convoy vs. in a random configuration. Maybe that's been done already, I notice that units appear relatively organized, e.g. squads inside half tracks, and so on. Just a thought.
  3. OK, more weird things. How about that little remote-controlled, tracked demo charge the Germans built? I would like to see ALL the PSW series, some of them did not have guns on them, they were used for transport. Some of them were radio cars. Strifer planes as well as fighter-bombers -- Stukas and Russian planes. Dozer tanks. RAM II tank with a turret. (not sure if there is one in the game). Coloured smoke to help guide air support. Requests for carpet-bombing (U.S.) and artillery barrages (Russian) before a scenario's turn 1 -- to simulate part of a large-scale assault. Also because I just want to see what that would look like.
  4. That reminds me of Car Wars, the Microgame.
  5. What other software companies? Since I started playing CM all the other games gradually disappeared from my computer.

  7. I believe they are half blind, though. Plus they like to stand in water -- not good for gun towing. Maybe they could be useful in marsh tiles.
  8. I played the original SL, and unless my memory fails me (quite possible, this was over ten years ago), it included bicycles, sidecars, motorcycles and... cavalry. Or maybe that was in Cross of Iron. Nevertheless I totally agree with your statement, because CM does require more preparatory work than ASL did when creating units -- I can cut up a cardboard chit in five minutes to see if the new unit will "fit" with the game; in CM they must plan ahead carefully, make a decision, spend hours coding the thing in before they can really see what the effect will be.
  9. Huh, I won't say what this is about, but I wonder if anyone out there has a compiled a list of ALL the ASL scenarios. Then someone could take note of which scenarios have been ported over to CM, and which haven't. As a community service. As a joke I was thinking of porting over some of The Perfect General scenarios, I thought that could be funny. [This message has been edited by patboivin (edited 02-09-2001).]
  10. No there isn't -- not for Army (Heer) 81mm mortars off-board. If you purchase a mortar to place on the map, you will get smoke. It's not an option for off-board. At least not in my copy of CM 1.1.
  11. I would like a copy. Please e-mail to lori.pat@ns.sympatico.ca Thanks.
  12. I agree, try to find MMGs in the CM OOBs, or squads without leaders the way ASL used to list them on the scenario cards. In CM you can't select just a squad, you have to select a platoon with an HQ. There are many other differences between the games, e.g. 80mm off-board German artillery with smoke shells -- there is no smoke in the CM version. I also have the ASL maps, but I downloaded them on September 4th, 2000. If someone knows about any updates to them since, and still have the zip file for them, I would like to receive them. I am sad to see Col.Kotz' site go down, it will be sorely missed -- very well designed, extremely useful. This is a big loss. [This message has been edited by patboivin (edited 02-09-2001).]
  13. Tiger, how do you crank out two or three high quality mods per day? Amazing. Now we want to know where we can download this.
  14. I found it, there were 145 in still in service in Normandy as of March 45. http://www.achtungpanzer.com/pz1.htm#panzer2 Probably everyone knew that except me!
  15. I liked the Panzer III so I checked, and sure enough most of them were gone by June 1944. Here is a quote from http://www.achtungpanzer.com/pz8.htm : "By late 1944, only 79 Panzer IIIs were in service with frontline units on the Eastern Front. Number of PzKpfw IIIs remained in service until the end of the war in places like Norway and Holland." A number of Panzer IIIs were used on the Eastern front, maybe we will see them in CM2. There is a flammpanzer version, that could prove interesting. I am surprised that the Panzer IIL made it into CMBO, I will search for that to see why it outlived the Panzer III.
  16. Kettenkrad URL, which someone had already posted on this board: http://www.kettenkrad.de/indexe.htm
  17. Kettenkrads! How could I forget to mention those!
  18. Speaking of Pz IIIs, I would like to see some. They were common for a while, weren't they?
  19. The Germans also used Puma lookalikes with antennae for radio posts. 6-wheeled, and 8-wheeled cars.
  20. Months ago I started building an Operation Market Garden scenario, but found that the map size was too small so I dropped it. In big historical battles there is the question of logistics and time, people in real life don't plan and move every minute like we do in the game. People might hide in a building for days, for example, to avoid capture, or to wait until enemy units leave the area. Very hard to model in a tactical game like CM, I don't think it is really possible.
  21. Huh, I have no more boats, the Infantry Gun did a job on them. In one shot it sank four boats, not a pretty sight. I am sorry but that squad is going to tread water until the game finishes...
  22. FYI, I am playing a scenario with boats in it. A 150mm IG happily blew up most of my boats, with instant kills in most cases. However one squad was simply broken, and now is standing routed in the middle of a river, surrounded by water. It has stayed routed and hasn't moved in the last eight turns. I suspect it doesn't have anywhere to go, since infantry is not allowed to move through water tiles.
  23. Your site works all right with IE. I downloaded your mod, I am happy. Thanks.
  24. Your site looks a bit strange when accessed using Netscape. I'll try with IE.
