Since Matt has not locked this one up, and this is not CERT, let me try. There are quite a number of agents nowadays carry viruses and other malicous codes. However, I have yet to see such code pass around directly through TCP/IP like CM online code, except possibly tools like "Back Orfrice". My advice is be very careful when opening files sent thru ICQ, chat and email. As one of the countermeasures, add yourself a virus scanner and firwall for your PC usually helps. There are a number of such personal firewalls available, and I am using ZoneAlarm. Also even if you have these defense tools, make sure you upgrade them constantly as new upgrades help to keep your defense up to face latest threads. Hope it helps. I was just surprised to see MadMatt had time playing CM and one poster was "Fionn", then I note the timestamp, no wonder... Back to topic: I think many have heard different stories about Tigers and Panthers killed by their weak spot. I had 2 consecutive occations where a Tiger IE were killed by M5 Straut at side and rear weak points. Watch out for those small tanks with 37mm guns. On topic: I recommend using tanks on attacking rather than assualt guns. As other points out: how one uses them is the key. Stick them together and have multi-tank lock on the same single target. Note, if one gets the tanks too close together, they are likely to become air-strike magnet. Off topic: Priest, you are welcome. Agreed (again?). In some cases PzIVs work wonders. Try the "South to Sword" scenario (it is on CD) and you will know. They get a Churchill VI once. But, personally, I find not much difference between a "veteran" to a "regular" tank in shooting situation and they miss almost as much. But still (!!!) I would trade 1 Tiger for 2 PzIVs. Agreed Tom. However in some unfortunate situations, a Panther can still be killed, okay I am just avoid spreading incorrect ideas of Panther the Ubertank. 1. Fireflies. Nasty -- in a duel situation, it is only a matter who got hit first ( in all ranges) which is usually KO on first hit. 2. I have lost my lone Panther G (late) to a Churchill VIII HEAT round over 600m hull down! Lucky shot? Very bad luck. 3. I recently surronded a Panther G with a M5 Stuart + a M8 Hound team. One lucky frontal shot from the M5 @ <300m scrap the hull-down Panther. Plus, no loss on my side. My advice, watch out to those Commonwealth tanks, Herr kommader. Good post Priest. Let me add: Don't lure by the low price of rockets, they are pretty much useless in the scale of CMBO and they can sometimes be hazardous to your own troop, even they are pretty far from your intended target area. Personally, if I am allowed, I would buy at least 4 platoons of infantry rather than 1 STuG + 3 plattons. Cause, you can use the extra platoon as reserve and finish up the job when your front line men are exhausted. I would rather take a STuH and a STuG cause STuG is not pretty good TD as Hetzers do. Also I find 1 PzVIE worths better than 2 PzIVs. Moreover, remember that under all circumstances, "God is on the side with last running Tank and Platoon (in full strength)".
