It's not the deception that's gamey -- it's getting 22 shots of 14 inch out of a 6 shot battery. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. -

Babra wonders what everyone thinks "penultimate" means... Isn't there a heck of a long delay between each spotting round? ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. -
Stug must be pronounced "stooge"

Oh, Thrash, Thrash, Thrash... my poor deluded Thrash. Was it not enough to punch 76mm holes in the tissue paper armour of my Marders? Was it not enough to detonate and de-tread my Hetzers with armour-piercing mortar fire? Were you not satisfied playing quick-draw with my StuGs? Was there something missing from your "total" (cough) victory? Oh, it's sad, very, very sad... Soon you will no doubt be lauding the merits of hamsters and "Heil"ing Herr Peng. I shall call up the TV Evangelist and purchase a prayer for your salvation. Marders rock indeed... Blech! ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. -

The one I always wanted (and never got) was called "Dnepr River Line" or some such thing. It had a map and counters like any boardgame, but the computer played the Russians... Wonder if the A/I was any good? ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. -

Do too! ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. -
I won't address the tungsten issue, but an AT gun (especially a 76mm) has a fair bit of kick when it fires. If it's not relaid correctly, the second shot could miss where the first one hit. Nothing so odd about that. But I hear what you're sayin'... ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE.

quote:
Originally posted by KOYLI: I know it is not strictly a war movie but now about including 'Shining Through', the Michael Douglas vehicle, where Joely Richardson as a female nazi, on discovering heroine Melanie Griffiths is an allied spy, cries "Mein Gott! You've got guts!". It's straight out of the comic books I used to read when I was nine.

Ooh, definitely the worst or bloody close to it. Y'know what's sad? Until she made that movie, Ms. Griffiths had never heard of the holocaust. What a flake. Battle of the Bulge, Patton & Tobruk always stick in my craw though. Yuck-o-rama. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. -

After a series of pointless and by no means exhaustive tests, based on assumed premises, faulty logic and a good deal of Valpolicella, I have correlated, annotated and indexed the results, coming in the end to the following inescapable conclusions: StuGs suck. Marders REALLY suck. Hetzers, however, merely blow. There's no point arguing -- no, I shan't listen. You're clearly wrong. I've said it. It's carved in stone, now go away. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. -
British Tanks {plz help}
Formerly Babra replied to Smack's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
UK (and Commonwealth) received the following numbers of Shermans: M4 (Sherman I) - 2,096 M4A1 (Sherman II) - 942 M4A2 (Sherman III) - 5,041 M4A3 (Sherman IV) - 7 M4A4 (Sherman V) - 7,167 M4(105) (Sherman IB) - 593 M4A1(76)W (Sherman IIA) - 1,330 M4A2(76)W (Sherman IIIA) - 5 So the Sherman V, III and I would seem to be the most common. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE. Good question! Some opponents have sent me some setups and I'm never quite sure what the local conditions are. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE.

Sounds like a classic case of SHS (Stuff Happens Syndrome). Surprise isn't really likely in a situation where the enemy is already in contact with your forces. They are already alert. It's a difficult maneuver to pull off, but if you had laid smoke in front of the Amis before advancing to your firing position, they may have appeared piece-meal and could have been defeated in detail. My fraction of a buck. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE.

I don't know what the Amis were using, but Commonwealth forces used basically every obsolete tank in the inventory (and some not so obsolete ones). All had their main armament removed and extra radios installed. M3 Grant OPs, Sherman OPs and Ram OPs all saw service in NW Europe, though I can't confirm in what numbers. A few seem to have been on the divisional establishment of all the armoured divisions though. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE.

I think a ceasefire will end the op. Worth a try, but back up your game before you try it. ------------------ It's a mother-beautiful bridge and it's gonna be THERE.
