  1. OK, folks. After the recent idea of doing muddy winter grass for use from November to March. I decided to try doing it to the VELVET grass. Well after looking through PhotoImpact's "Easy Pallete" I found an very interesting filter called....drum roll..."Withered Grass"!!! Whoalla! Well so I went through and applied this filter to the Brush, Marsh, Hedges, Fields, Fall Tree bases, and of course the Velvet Grass files. And I came up with this: As you may know, Velvet Grass shows elevation changes quite well. Well so does this. Also as the "high" tiles start to get used, there is still some green in them and the very top tiles are pretty much unchanged, however, I did apply the filter to everything and this is what happened. Pretty cool really. I have also updated my Batch files to swap the other terrain elements as well. I think I will zip these up in small parts and send them to either CM Outpost or COMBAT MISSIONS. ------------------ "Upon my signal, unleash Hell."--General Maximus, Gladiator "Aim small, miss small."--Mel Gibson, The Patriot
  2. Live guys minus dead guys plus victory points times a scaler I guess.
  3. I have recently switched my Desktop to 1152 x 864 and when I take a screenshot it usually comes out at around 1100 x 700 resolution. But what I do, is that I go reduce the dimensions by about 30-40 percent and I get a pic that is about 700 x 400 or so. And I use about 15-20% jpg compression ratio.
  4. Well of course we'll see the PzIII in CM2. Remember CM2 will cover 1941-1945 the PzIIL, was a special version of the PzII that was still used late in the war.
  5. Simple answer: Do bears **** in the woods? Complex answer: If you want the most realistic looking terrain and vehicles, then yes they do. The stock graphics really kinda suck compared to what's out there now.
  6. Yeah, unlike other "former" wargame companies like SSI, <cough> Talonsoft <cough>, etc.
  7. On the other hand, I found that these new brown grass files were WAY too dark. I found that if you lighten them up with FOUR click-ups on the Brightness setting, they look more realistic. Also the Plowed Fields I lightened up too with THREE click-ups on the Brightness and FIVE click-ups on the Contrast Again, for the confused Tris, this does not change the original mod for you. I just changed them on my machine. Here's what the lighter grass looks like: Note I didn't install any of the "muddy" tree bases. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 02-05-2001).]
  8. No, no. You misunderstood. For one, hi-res grass is one of the biggest culprits of framerate hit. Secondly, Nick Bell, used DD's Hi-Res grass to do this. Which I have no problem with either. On my machine, because I use every other Hi-Res mod I get my hands on. (I'm one of the beta testers for Marco Bergman's Hi-Res Shermans, BTW) Therefore I really can't afford to use Hi-Res Grass. So therefore, I Itake the HUGE 512x512 pixel bmp and shrink them down to standard low-res dimensions by cutting them down to 256x256. This cuts the file size by over 500K. A big difference! The batch files I made do NOTHING to the original mod. They just automatically swap out the green ones for the brown ones and vice versa. HOWEVER, you must add suffixes to the end of the file names for this to work. An '_s' for your Summer (green) grass and a '_w' for your Winter (muddy/brown) grass. Where you may have been confused is that the grass tiles that extend from the battlefield to the horizon bitmap are supposedly low-res grass files, that get stretched and distorted by the game engine. They are (or can be) the same as the hi-res battlefield grass files but instead of using the 1550-1569 file range, they use the 1500-1519 file range. ------------------ "Upon my signal, unleash Hell."--General Maximus, Gladiator "Aim small, miss small."--Mel Gibson, The Patriot
  9. Correction: They are NOT redesigning the game engine. They will just enhance it just has they have enhanced CMBO with patches. But there maybe be sewer fighting, but that's gonna be quite hard to pull off IMHO. They will try to model building damage better rather than just for them to blow up. And obviously they will have the complete German & Russian TO&E from 1941-145. ------------------ "Upon my signal, unleash Hell."--General Maximus, Gladiator "Aim small, miss small."--Mel Gibson, The Patriot
  10. Send them to Manx, for crying out loud! He's pretty quick in getting them up.
  11. Well, I like it! Actually looks more realistic than the previous method people were using. Although I use MakJagers JPzIVs, these do look pretty cool.
  12. Are you serious? You can't change the 3D model. And a DUKW looks nothing like the Duece and a Half.
  13. They are DD's uniforms. You can get them from CMHQ. Oh, come now John, you know that the models are all hard-coded. There is no changing the size of anything.
  14. Anybody that wants the batch files can email me at davem@shawneelink.net. What I did was to make Nicholas's tiles low-res (193K) instead of 7xxK. And added in the horizon low-res counterparts by copying them again and renaming them starting with 1500 instead of 1550. So rename files 1550-1569 to 1500-1519 to get the horizon tiles. And then add a _w (winter) suffix for these "muddy" tiles and an _s (summer) suffix to whatever grass mod you're using. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 02-05-2001).]
  15. Well with a Chat system, there is no organization of topics and it's all real-time. So if you are not present, you miss the discussion. With Bulletin Boards, especially this one, it's almost like Chat, cause most of us montior it constantly and some discussions almost take place in real-time.
  16. LOL! Just like Gunny Bunny to show back up without acknowledging the other posts against what he suggests. What a lame-ass! ------------------ "Upon my signal, unleash Hell."--General Maximus, Gladiator "Aim small, miss small."--Mel Gibson, The Patriot
  17. I think it should have been labeled "dead winter grass". I have just spent the last hour or so, writing up batch files and adding the file suffixes. Only problem is that I can't figure out how to create an Icon file.
  18. Great, I suggested this feature a while back, because the last time I checked the grass wasn't green in the middle of December and January. I'm downloading this right now. I could write up a batch file to swap out these terrain elements if you like.
  19. ROTLMAO! That's damned ingenius! A Jeep won the first time I ran it. A Kubel was right behind it, but it got straffed by a FB just short of the Finish Line
  20. Oh great thanks. So when do you think you'll have it all ready?
  21. Well, it helps to move the vehicles that have better experince first as they have a smaller delay time. This gets them going first. During the set-up phase, make sure they are out in front and then just stagger ending movement waypoints back a little bit from one another and you won't get this traffic jam. Sure, if you send out a Green Sherman out in front of a Veteran Sherman along the same movement path, you are going to get them jumbled up. ------------------ "Upon my signal, unleash Hell."--General Maximus, Gladiator "Aim small, miss small."--Mel Gibson, The Patriot
  22. Have you guys modded the hedge/boccage bmp for use as like a Stone Wall as to build Desert Strongholds?
