1. OK, you mod sluts. I have finished tghe mod. I've added some insignia and sharpened up the wood slats a bit. So for all your mod slutness, hang onto your balls and get your "woody" right here, er... um...Manx's site. (On the way as soon as I make this post.) Did we mention that it is HI-RES???? Sign up for an account at PhotoPoint.com. You can post up to 10 images for free. Then use the UBB tag to display them here by using the images correct URL in between the tag. You can click on the "image" button below a post text box and insert the URL there also.
quote:
oh and whos this Rob\ 1 guy tonnes of people have mentioned him to me ? plase respond! hello Huston? huston we have a problem . . .

Well, Rob/1 is a youngster from Canada that has the spelling skill equivalent to yourself. If you really want to be honest about it. You're above post is a tribute to that.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Terence: Two questions, what is A DIMM? What is a RIMM? And how big can CM scenarios get??? Is there a limit built into the software?? Obviously theres a limit based on hardware -- a slow computer won't run the really big stuff, but assuming you had an infinitely fast computer, how big of a cm scenario could you run?

A DIMM is a Double Integrated Memory Module. Which means that the memory stick has memory chips on both sides of the stick. I have no idea what a RIMM is. I think he meant SIMM. In which case is a Single Integrated Memory Module which is of course memory chips on just one side of the stick. I don't know if there is a limit to CM scenario size, but my 1.2Ghz rig can handle huge maps, hi-res grass, every hi-res mod possible and it runs smoothly. I do get a graphics "hiccup" every now and then as I rotate the camera as the graphics load into memory which I think is just a bottleneck created by the HDD.
 4. Well that's kind of funny, I had great success with a pair of Vickers in the scenario "Dorset Wood in the Rain" where I mauled a bunch of Germans trying to cross an open wheat field. I did have a few Rifle Squads as back up though.
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Heinz 25th PzReg: When will it be available? Heinz

Fernando told me that he might release the mono-color, bi-color version soon and then release a tri-color version later. In fact, he had done his tri-color before the bi-color, but wasn't very happy with it.
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Horncastle: Is there a white scout car out there?

Feldgrau is working on one. I have a evaluation copy. They are pretty good. Good amount of detail, but just a little shy of Marco's preciseness. He's still figuring out if his commonwealth color scheme needs worked on. US and FF versions look real good.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Mord: Ahh a topic that I can really indulge in! Allied AA guns, Allied truck and the wasp. Mord.

Allied Truck is forth coming. Check my thread about "Tired of bland-looking Allied Trucks?"
 8. Someone hasn't been studying their CM 3D tank meshes very closely.
 9. Let me just clarify a bit. Rick Klein did the mod. I just added the stars to the US version. Actually he just sent me the files for the UK version. The UK version is 4420-4426, the US version is 3280-3286. Alex asks who this guy is. Well a day or two ago there was a thread from "Klink" (Rick Klein) asking for the link to Mike Duplessis's log bunker. I couldn't find it either. So I just emailed it to him. He sent me back this truck mod. So there ya go. [ 05-03-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
 10. Well, as soon as I get in contact with Rick, I'll see if I can send it to Manx. I have also whipped up Desert versions as well. Haven't tried a Winter version yet. Probably won't though.
 11. Yesterday evening, after some correspondance with a CM'er in need of a wooden bunker mod (before Pud's was seen), I received a mod from the very same fellow in need. Rick Klein was his name. He has created a very nice Allied Truck with hints of both Tiger's and Marco's pallete. He had only sent me the Commonwealth version, but through some file renaming and the addition of some American Stars that I "borrowed" from one of Marco's Sherman textures. I, (we), have created this.... EDIT: Refer to 2nd picture (not the Coca-Cola one) below for final version. Note the wooden plank look around the bed railings. Very interesting indeed. With this mod, you'll be proud to purchase a truck or two now. [ 05-04-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ] [ 05-04-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Terence: Heh heh, see my follow up post... For the record, if you already have a monitor, you can get a Dell 8100 today with a free CDRW and a pentium 4 1.3 gig processor, 256 megs of PC600RDRAM a 20 gig hard drive and a 32 meg Nvidia Geforce 2 graphics card. for 1400 bucks. What do you guys think? Too much?

I upgraded to a 1.2Ghz Athlon, 266 MHz FSB, ASUS A7V133 mobo., 256MB PC133 SDRAM, 64MB Geforce 2 GTS SE, 30 GB HDD, new ATX case, 2 cooling fans (instead of 1) for a little over $1100 (tax included). $290 was the video card.
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Clubfoot: Alright, Max pegged me. I'll cop to being lazy. I have been busy, just not on CM or DFDR stuff. Me sucks. Those Brit infantry uniforms will be up before this weekend (the airborne too if you want to ship 'em to me). Now, what I'd really like to see from ol' Max are some DAK vehicles. There are a slew of them right now, but most of them seem to be too orange-hued, and the ones that aren't are lo-res. I really liked your winter armor (so much that it's used in the Commando Skorzeny Sheep's Clothing SSM) and would like to see your stylings on the desert DAK vehicles, all in matching ochre (the standard paint job after '42, although the Germans termed it "desert yellow"). Or standard gun-metal grey with the DAK palm&swastika symbol. Huh? Huh? purty please?

I'm working on some. Someone sent me a new Allied truck last night. I made a desert version this morning. I'll send you the new uniform zip shortly.
 14. eurowarrior, I don't fight battles between wits against unarmed men. Sorry chap, but don't feed this "My parents are rich, so am I," BS that doesn't fly here in the States. But you know, this is not the only place where you've used that line before. It seems you used it on the Cossacks board and got the same response. So who's yo' daddy now? 15.
quote:
Originally posted by MrWinterbottom: Heh..somehow I expected you to go personal on me. I guess it kinda fits you rather nicely. Mr. Winterbottom

You know it never ceases to amaze me that some people have no sense of humor whatsoever. How does one get up in the morning without having one? But I guess if you take every little snid-bit personally or seriously then I guess one wouldn't. I don't know about you, but I have had a seriously bad experience in my life in the last couple of years. (A bad car accident) If didn't have a good sense of humor, I wouldn't be able to deal with my situation. I would have probably committed suicide if didn't. So live a little bit and smile every now and then, like this
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: Very nice; I like the Pz Div markings with the white star. You're gonna get some confused questions in this thread, methinks! The cam job is super, too.

Actually Fernando included about four or five different optional markings for that rear file.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by MikeyD: About pink spots: They're actually the color 100% magenta, and the computer drops the color out of the skin on the polygon making the magenta invisible. 99% magenta will not drop-out so modders must be very careful.

If you really want to get technical. The RGB values are R=254, G=0, B=254. Anything else appears as pink spots. Doug, brightening up a bmp with transparent will change the values. However if you up the contrast by the same amount, the RBG values go back to the correct values. e.g. 2 click-ups on Brighten and 2 click-ups on Contrast will return the RBG values back to the correct values. BUT if you find that equal click-ups won't achieve the effect you want, that's easily fixed too. What I do is use the color replace tool, use "eyedropper" to select the actual pink that is being shown and then use the correct pink color as the replacement color. Paint over the area and WALLA, it's back to transparent.
 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: If we had imagination, why would we want mods? we could just imagine the stock artwork looking cool...:-PPP The colours are nice; you have done a good job and I am sure many will enjoy these mods. You would blow my socks off, though, if you picked up a copy of TOMMY IN COLOUR PHOTOS and researched the proper pattern KD. In actual fact, the jerkin is probably not a bad compromise. Prescribed winter clothing for the Desert was the wool greatcoat which is not modelled in CM.

Well correct indeed. However, you have to make compromises and make do with what you have. As for using Magua's leather jerkins for Desert UK Airborne, it was within artists liberties. It was there, so I used it. Anyway....
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: Leather jerkins in the desert? Ye Gods, man! And No. 7 Blanco?

Well like I said, I don't know how historical it is, but it just looks cool. Com'on Michael, use your imagination. [ 05-01-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
 20. Well I received Fernando's Bi-Color PzIV today. I might be treading on Old Dog's territory here, but that's tough. No offense, Bob. If you thought the mono-color looked cool, the bi-color really brings it to life. So here it is for your viewing pleasure.
 21. OK guys, so the whole EWJOTMA didn't go over so well. Too bad, 'cause it was pretty PENG-ish funny. Anyway, some of you may have seen my earlier screenshot of a UK Army Uniform. I had sent it to the DFDR site, but they are just about as fast as Madmatt is with CMHQ. No offense, of course. But in the meantime, there *are* a few DFDR scenarios with UK Airborne in them, so I figured that they need a special desert uniform as well. "'Cause green kacky camo isn't going to fool anyone in the desert." So again using Magua's awesome Tommie mod, I have created a Desert UK Airborne uniform from Magua's '45 Tommie. I don't know how historically correct it is, but it does look cool in-game as if not just to differentiate the two types of troops. Anyway, here is the UK Airborne uniform, both front and back: And here's the UK Army uniform, both front and back: If you want them, you can email me for it is a rather small download as they are actually still in low-res dimensions. davem@shawneelink.net

Bates: AH MY EYES... must avert eyes... screenshots of the most heavily modded CM ever... retinas burnt thru extreme use of colours...

Sorry Bates, but I tend to go for the most realistic looking battlefield I can get. Love Tiger's new Tiger. I take my hat off to him on that one. However, I really need to do something with those summer mountains. They don't match Gunnergoz's Real_Grass very well. I was wanting to finish him off for good.
