1. Well unless you were the one hiding those special paint-retentive leather tanker helmets back then, I doubt that paint would stick to leather very well--especially in the winter. In other words, I left the tanker helmet brown on purpose.
 2. In my experiences, I tend to stick with the drivers that I receive with my card and then later d/l new ones from the very company that made my card.

 4. As for the StuG, again after looking at it again. It could be either a StuGIII-A or B. As most likely this very 3D model will be used for both. As the only difference between the two was the drivetrain. What threw me the first time, was that the picture of the B model that I looked at was from the port side instead of the starboard side as there are differences between sides.
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by panzerwerfer42: Just for the sake of a bump, wasn't that jutting out portion reintroduced on the D or E variants?

Yeah, whoops, must have had a page stuck together as I was looking them up as I was flipping back and forth from the PzIV-F2 and PzIII-J. Yeah the bulged drivers slit was reintroduced on the D model, but that's it. B, C, and E models all had a flat facia. But as for the PzIV model, after looking at it again, it is definately a PzIVD by it's gun shielding and stuff. [ 06-09-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
 6. Well, funny you should mention computer freezes with the Geforce while on the net. Mine does that too, but it only does it every now and then. I have just chalked my problem up to the replacement modem that they installed in my system because my old one apparently didn't work with this set-up.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by PawBroon: In any case and because I know your favorite line of defense, NOT all are Marco Bergmans or Fernando Carrera Buils. Months ago, someone posted a South Park like MOD. Did I used it? No. Did I feel compelled to post a nasty comment about that childish attempt? No. Do I think the MODer who did this had vastly improved his techniques and is now producing good things for all to enjoy? Yes... To sum up, Give him a break!

What??? Didn't like my Jungle Cats mod? We to tell you the truth, I didn't either! I'm shocked that Madmatt has kept it on CMHQ all this time.
 8. Did you ever download my Winter Uniforms v3 from CM Outpost? There are white tank crew uniforms in there this time.
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Andrew Hedges: I think that this is generally not true for most people, including gamers. If you look at the system requirements for most new games (I just checked on Amazon), you will find that they are relatively modest -- Black & White, for example, requires a 350Mhz processor, 64M of ram and an 8M video card. More would be better, of course, but these reqs were common on 3 or 4 year old computers. I didn't see any games that required more than a 400 Mhz processor, 64M of ram, or an 8MB vid card. So I think that CM is, if anything, pushing the envelope on system requirements; there's no real need to upgrade every year unless your computer was barely adequate to begin with.

But you see that's just it. Requirements is what it takes for the computer just to run the program without the computer saying "Huh, wha?" Recommended Requirements are what it takes for the computer to run it in somewhat good fashion. For instance, like I said above was a Celeron 433. Most games were requiring a 400 MHz processor with recommended speeds being around 600-650 MHz. So that's when I figured that it was time. No crying about it, I just knew that it was time as this was my fourth major computer upgrade since my first 386-33 ten years ago. So basically the advice that Ingus and I are trying to get across here is that if you're constantly just trying to get by with the minimal spec, then you will be constantly having to upgrade sooner than you would if you'd buy a system that is well above and beyond the average recommended specs to begin with. Besides, at the price of PCs this day and age, there's no reason why a person couldn't afford a Intel/AMD 800 MHz system with at least a 32MB Geforce 2 card for just around $600-700.
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Clubfoot: Good, existing mods usage. Jeff wants to make his own mods. Not change the hue of someone elses.

Well, not to be a flame or anything, but are even these textures are BTS originals. So he is in fact just changing the hue of someone's textures, just not some 3rd person's. So that is why I always say, if you are just doing a repaint, whether it be a desert version or winter version, you are infact using someone elses textures. So what's the problem with using the best textures out there? IIRC, Marco's Fireflies were offered in low-res as well. But anyway, I whipped up my own version based off of Marco's Firefly set, of course, after seeing this offering.
 11. Umm, bloody plain don't you think? Besides, I doubt there were any Fireflies in the desert. Did you ever see Gordon's American M4A1 Sherman and Stuart? BTW, AussieJeff, have you considered using some good existing hi-res mods to do you DFDR conversions on? Because, if people play with those in CMBO, I don't think they'll want to play with stock low-res versions in DFDR.
 12. Probably the sound of a MG34. Although with a slower ROF than the MG42, the MG34 was more accurate due to less recoil.
 13. Expect to see it very soon. Marco sent us the release version today. Thanks.
 14. You could send that to MakJager for him to add camo to.
 15. Well, Marco hasn't sent us anything lately, so your guess is as good as mine.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Panzer Leader: And does this include independant tracking of grenades?

Were you the guys that asked this a few weeks ago? Tracking of grenades isn't necessary. Say for instance that each man carries 2 grenades and the squad has 10 men. That's 20 grenades per squad. I haven't yet seen where one squad chucks more than maybe 5 or 6 grenades before either being eliminated or vice versa.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: The last German tank is a Pz III of some sort. BUT, I think this was one that KwazyDog whipped up really quickly (CGW deadline was a challenge to meet!) and therefore it isn't correct. I think it is a PzIII gun/mantlet mounted on a PzIV turret and shrunken down late PzIV hull Steve

Steve, I know, it's confusing, I was looking at the mantlet and everything there as well. At first glance I could have sworn it was a PZIV-F2 due mainly to the turret. Gun is missing the muzzle brake that would be present on a PzIV-F2 gun. No wait, I looked again, it is definately a PzIII-J, by everything I see in the 3D mesh. The thing is that both models were being built at the same time.
 18. OK, the revised list of the German stuff is as follows and for the following reasons.
Elefant (I'm not an expert on the Ferdinand and Elephant, so just take what others have said.)
PzIV-Ausf D (by the part of the upper hull that juts out around the bow MG and the gun mantlet area)
StuGIII-Ausf A or B (by the way the upper hull is made around the main gun. - The A & B were exactly the same except for their engine.)
PzIII-J (for the muzzle-brakeless gun and for some of what others have said.) All determined by the ol' trusty "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII" [ 06-09-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by R_Leet: Grass and tree mods are for people with no imagination.

I see the "Mr. Winkie", but please. You could say that for any mod. Besides we all play games, we all use a mouse or joystick to play them. That's like saying every game is just the same as another because we use the same input device. So play Diablo and pretend it's CM. See doesn't make sense.
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Yank: Well this is my first attempt at modding, and trying to post a photo. I used Fernando's Panther mod.Does anyone know where I might find a decent winter Panther G ?The only one I found was at CMHQ and it just wasn't what I was looking for.Any comments good or bad are more than welcome.

Gordon is doing some winter versions of Fernando's PzIV and Panthers. He's using the snow effect as like the American stuff.
 21. Well, speaking of Fernando's Panthers, Fernando sent me some preview shots of his TRI-COLOR and AMBUSH camo schemes of Panthers. Here they are: Panther G - Late Panther G Fernando said he's doing options now and will probably release these this week. He said he's gonna do the Panther A next.
 22. Anybody else interested? ISP problems were apparently fixed over-night.
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Rommel22: I can't wait for the M8 mod. The teasers looked nice. Hey how about a daimler. There is only one mod for the Daimler and I am sorry to say, I don't like it much. I heard some people talking about a Daimler mod in the makes or something.

PawBroon was gonna do the Daimler.
 24. OK, now to the question at hand. My view on this would be to finish and release the next version of the game, no matter where we are in the sequence and then work on retro-fitting the older versions. You know there may also be a asthetic value here if you will. Some people would consider CMBO as a classic. Some people also have a "thing" when people go screwing around with classics. Same thing happened with the 1997 re-releases of the Star Wars saga. Some die-hard fanatics didn't like LucasArts screwing around with the classic movies. But as most people who like change, they found the addition of new CGI stuff to actually enhance the experience. So where does that leave CMBO? Well, I think that enhancing the CMBO engine to CMBB standards would definately be a plus. First of all it would mean continued full price income from sales and continued interest in the Theater. For example, one of my all-time favorite flight simulators was Sierra Dynamic's "Aces of the Pacific". It was IMHO the best career-based simulator game I have ever played, along with the other games of that series, "Red Baron" and "Aces Over Europe". I'd kill for someone to redo those games to today's simulator standards and keep the same career play and aircraft selection.
 25. Terence, While I understand your fears of the God Al'Mighty Motherboard and all it's chips'n'dips. It is really not difficult to work with. You're frying of the HDD was probably from not properly grounding yourself before touching the innards. The first thing you should touch is the power supply. The big silver box in the upper rear of the tower. This grounds you. Installing a hardware card is as simple as sliding it into the slot and screwing it down. Plopping the Driver CD into the CD-Drive and letting the auto-run and installer to do the rest.
