Well, there were scenarios done for CMBO based on the movie...but, CMBB - well...among other reasons, no beaches.

I am debating buying this game
Epée replied to MasterGoodale's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
PBEM *IS* the way to go. IMHO, without PBEM this game wouldn't be half of what it is. And you are in luck PBEM/TCP-IP games are very very easy to find, and it it TOTALLY SWEET (to use an expression very peculiar to this forum). Repeating, if PBEM is mainly your thing, BUY THIS GAME NOW! Epée PS: You can send me a setup once you got it, to get you going. -

Ideas for multiplayer in the engine rewrite
Epée replied to Epée's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Cool. I've never played TACOPS. Does it work PBEM as well? -
What I look forward to the most in the CM II is multiplayer capability. With that in mind, I've been thinking how it could be implemented. Here is some ideas I came up with so far: In multiplayer TCP/IP battles, one player would be the commander/team captain. At the setup, he would select groups of units and assign them to player #1, player #2, etc. Now, the really cool bit would if, once the game has started, each player would only spot what he currently sees. For example, if one player had command of a platoon on one side of the map, behind trees, he would not be able to see what player #2 was up to assaulting the village in the middle of the map. As an option, the commander player could have normal LOS to all the map (representing getting information with scouts and over the radio), and would be able to send commands ('there is a tank behind the large building next to the church', 'careful, there might be a gun in the clump of trees about 200m north of your platoon HQ', etc) to the other players. Chatting might be restricted, also as an option, so only the commander could talk directly to the other players - they could not talk between themselves. What do you think? Any ideas for how PBEM could be multiplayer, and not involve a lot of file swapping? Epée

So far I don't like CMBB...
Epée replied to Stephen Smith's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I am not a grog, and realism details never bothered me much (i.e., never thought about MGs being bad in CMBO, don't care if armour penetration in a tank is not correctly modelled, etc) - I just play the game as it is, and learn how to use my assest as they are. Yes, CMBB was different, infantry tactics had to be adjusted coming from CMBO - but I didn't even think twice about it. Just learnt to play it. I haven't played CMBO since. I guess many people are just like me...not that worried about realism details, but love CM for what it is. -

I really like your new one. Higher res would be just awesome. BTW, do you have a large bmp of the russian holding the flag over the reichstag? I would love to have that single picture as my splash screen! -
Soldier, enjoy.

Latest CM2 Build: News release!!
Epée replied to jdmorse's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Damn newbies... Those are screen shots of pre-alpha CMBO days, I think when it was CMBO still was called Beyond Squad Leader (or Computer ASL). My first reaction to seeing that pic the first time was: 'When can I preorder? ' -
I've said before, Jagermeister would be a great demo scenario. But, it's not like it's going to happen :-(

Don't pay much attention to the AI comments on that review. Some of the included scenarios are balanced to be hard against the AI. But you can regularly beat the AI in Quick battles and most scenarios. If I recall correctly, that review says the AI can react perfectly or see perfectly to what you are doing. That is rubbish. If you buy it, try playing it mostly against humans , which is heaps more fun anyway. CMBB is a brilliant game.

Desertrat, I got the WAV file (Russia.zip_). It plays fine out of CMBB, but when I open CMBB it plays at a very high speed, and sounds very funny (squeaky). Anyone know why?
