  1. How about: CM 5: World at War (all fronts) and CM 6: A Century of Warfare (1900-2000) Epée
  2. Moon, the link to the scenario file doesnt work... Epée [This message has been edited by Epée (edited 06-30-2000).]
  3. I love ASL, and it was because of ASL that I became interested in Military History. It was because of ASL that I found CM. I dont think I will stop playing ASL after I get CM, and there is something about boardgames, however limited they might be, that cannot be substituted by computer games. I am happy to have them both... Epée
  4. Smack, have you tried the demo? You will have a good idea how the game plays using it, although much is left out (like weather, night scenarios, air support, and hundreds of different weapons). As for the battle generator, it is very good, as people say (I still dont have my copy). Epée
  5. Samba is the way to go! Great game tommorow: Brazil vs. Uruguay (World Cup qualifying) I recommend you from the northen hemisphere to watch...and learn. Epée Brazil
  6. Mine are VoT and CE, but that is because I have onlyplayed the beta demo. Which scenarios in the full game should I "save" to play blind PBEM? Epée Brazil
  7. I would go for a TNT2 (The best TNT2 by the way is the Guillemot Xentor32 - faster RAM and more overclockable than any other TNT2 card). The TNT2 is an outdated card, but it will do fine for you, since you have a 300mhz system. A Geforce is faster, but more expensive. I would only buy it, in your case, if I played a lot of games and if I were considering upgrading my CPU. A Geforce wont be a great deal over a TNT2 if you hang on to your CPU. But dont get me wrong, you will do fine with your computer and a TNT2 playing CM. Epée
  8. Dont you mean three _squads_ and not three platoons? Epée
  9. Very cool TwoSheds, tell us where you will post your ASL scenarios. Epée
  10. I love these stories. It eases the pain of not having CM for another week at least. Keep them coming! Epée Far away in Brazil
  11. TOAW stands for "The Operational Art of War". It is an excellent wargame from Talonsoft, but very different in scope from CM - it is hex based, turn based and its smallest unit is a division or battalion I think. In TOAW 1 if you had jeeps fighting tigers you could end up losing a few tanks, however unrealistic that might be. It is because TOAW added up the attack factors for the jeep, instead of computing armor penetration for single shots. This was fixed in TOAW 2 and subsequent versions. The newest game is TOAW: A Century of Warfare, and I do recommended it. Well, I would recommend it if I hadnt played CM before. No other wargames for me now, thanks. Epée
  12. Does the manual say how you can get your tanks hull down? Hod do I know if my tanks are HD? Any good tips for doing it? Epée
  13. I second the idea of translating ASL scenarios to CM. How about Kurhaus Clash, it is my favourite scenario in Yanks! I will try a translation as soon as I get my copy...which may take a while still... Epée Brazil
  14. And the first review is a very positive one! Epée
  15. Yes, this was the game once known as Computer ASL...and that is what attracted me to it in the first place. If you love ASL (like I do), you will worship CM (as I do). Epée
  16. Give up school. What do you need it for anyway? After all, you´re getting CM this week, and you shouldnt look further to anything else in life. Epée
  17. well, no need for spoiler information, but just tell us about the features we were not aware of from playing the demo, how good the manual is, how easy it is to build a new scenario, how balanced the DYO battles are, etc. Epée
  18. As I am in Brazil, I am placing a bet that I will be the last person, from those who pre-ordered, that will receive my copy. I have to wait for 10 days (which I think is an optimistic guess) and still wait for it to be cleared through the damn customs. All that said, why dont you lucky ami fellows who have already received the game today post some reviews on the game, the manual, the scenarios, the new patch, etc. Screen shots and scanned pictures from the manual would be an extra treat. Epée Brasilia, Brazil
  19. And of course, the option to review the movie for the full battle! Epée
  20. US$ 1 for a game?? :-o Here in Brazil you can get basically any software, but you will have to buy it for around US$7 (seven bucks). I think CM will be hard to find, but I dont care, I already pre-ordered in January. Epée
  21. I think we should leave Maddmatt alone, because Madddmatt is already spending too much time answering all the questions we ask him. Epée [This message has been edited by Epée (edited 06-16-2000).]
  22. Even in TCP/IP, a CM game can take a long time. I suppose there will be a feature to save your game and continue it later. I wonder if there is an option for a mixed TCP/IP and PBEM game. When you have time, you can connect to your opponent and speed up a PBEM game, for example...or is this asking too much? BTS customer support has spoiled me... Epée
  23. I wonder just how big the patch is? Epée
  24. hehe OK, so I´ve now found some pbem opponents. Cuchulainn, Argie...I will contact you when my copy of CM arrives. We can talk in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Epée
