1. General K. Nehring (General of German Panzertruppen) statet in his Book that in April 44 there where 200 Panthers on the Eastern Front, Herr H ordered them all for Operation Zitatelle to AG South. And also here the Produktion Numbers of PzKpfw V by Henschel 1943 March 10 April 26 Mai 25 Juni 25 Juli 30 Aug 30 Sep 30 Okt. 17 Nov 07 Dez 00 Summ 200 until dez 43 Later Daimler Benz and some other Companies Joined Henschel in Produktion and 1944 where 640 ordered at all. As we can see the absolut Numbersstatet by K. Nehring and Henschel (other source) stating for 200 Panthers in the Beginning of 1944 on the Eastfront and all where ordered to operation Zitatelle. From January 1944 we can expect a total Production number of 50 Panthers per month because 600 where orderd and produced by 3 manufactures (Henschel, Daimler-Benz and Hanomag) if now someone can dig out how many Panthers are served on Western Front we fast can have a clue how many Panthers where on the eastern Front. 2. Kwazy i didnt recieve a notice if my E-mail was in, did we get a confirmation when the model is sent in or only when something is wrong ?

4. Ok reading this all following comes to mind. For Tanks and spotting: IMO if a Tank "Spots" a enemy Unit the system is fine for me because in CMBO ALL Tanks have Radio communications that could tell (you the Leader) the location and the exceptet type of force the tank is fighting. all fine so far even in CMBO with this, for CMBB the things should be a little different explained a little latter. For Infantry: Inf. has contact to next HQ (red line + radio symbol)you get the Informations like Tanks (Target Type and location of expectet enemy unit + recon infos like right now). Inf. has no contact to next HQ (black line and stroked radio) u only get the Inf. highlightet in a different color seeing that it is fighting something but no clue what (no type, no location, etc). PLUS u dont get a correct status of your inf unit (no men counter, no ammo counter) until a HQ unit is in range then u get all the infos about your own and the spottet and reconed enemy infantry untis. this would fix a lot of the problems. In CMBB tanks without a Radio (like most soviet early tanks and some Germans too) should be handled like inf without radio (with a generic icon that dont shows hull/turret facing and Ammo status etc except someone with a communications line sees the own tank wich will recover your hull/turret facing direction and if it is firing and what direction location (impact location is visible only if it is in the los of a unit in command) At all all shell impacts etc should only be vis to the player if the impact point is in LOS of a unit under C&C this would solve a lot of problems from the GOD mode we playing now.
5. Yes there is no Fog in the Game Displayed, but otherwise this makes me not nervous because the Nvidea Problems i got with XP & CM + geForce2mx where more disturbing then having no fog displayed...........
6. Guys u might dont believe it but i have found MY fix for the Nvidea and WinXP Problem !! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Go Buy a ATI Radeon 8500 !! This card rocks ! Nice display smooth fast and better then geForce 3 TI500
7. After the all the Time here playing the Game i want to thank BTS for the Great Game they made for me and giving me so much hours of fun and play (alone, via PBM and direct-lan-playing vs my friend coming once or twice a week to play hassardus battles). I cant wait to get CMBB. !! And special thanks also for releasing a Boxed Version in Germany because now i get a lot of new offers from new bloody unexpierenced players to get slaughtered by my Armys No realy since the release of the Boxversion in Germany i now have a lot more oponents that i can taunt in my native language. COOL MOVE BTS !!! I Love ya !!
8. "Innere Fuehrung" Task of "inner Fuehrung" is to secure and oblige that the orders are getting fullfilled by the Soldiers in Command AND also secure the rights of the Individual Soldier. To Law and Command´s Every Soldier has the oblige to fullfill all Orders that are giving by a Soldier in Command at any time. (in Command means a. due Rank or b. due a specific Role example here is Guard) The Soldiers MUST obeye these orders even if they break the Law !!! Exclusion are Orders that Containing Crimes that are avenge (?) penaltys with Prison of minimum 1 Year. So if i would command one of my submissioned soldiers to move on with a Car over a red Ample the Soldier must obeye my Order (but I got to Take the Response for this). If i Order him to Get his Gun and rober that Bank or kill a Person he dont have to follow that Order because this would follow a Penalty with minimum 1 Year of Prison. The Task of the Soldier is to decide is the Command a Crime pursuatet by a Prison Penalty of 1 Year worth or not. If not he got to follow that Order first and can later complain by a higher Officer etc. That is roughly what i am learned in my 4 years in German Army about it and given here in English as best as i can. As for the German Army in general i got to say that the Bundeswehr is a high modern Army with a good `esprit du corpse´ but due a lot of budget limitings the feeling getting worse. As for remembering the "roots" there are huge differences all allong the whole Army, fractions living in Glorifications of the Wehrmacht (in the ex-Eastern Parts from the NVA they seem to be more of this) and others having the POV that the Bundeswehr is a complete NEW Army and has nothing to do with Wehrmacht. The Broad mass of Bundeswehr Soldiers IMO are between the 2 POV´s we are a little proud about the performance of the Wehrmacht in WWII but also arguing and disliking the Nazi-part of it. And for sure most soldiers also dont keep Sympathizes for any Neo-Nazis in Germany and not else where in the World. I think in General the Bundeswehr is like most of Germans a little distortianed about here History and with a little difficult "Nation-Pride". At least in cold War the Russians still feared most the German Part of Nato (from a ex-Russian Soldier)
9. got to agree that it is very loud in tanks, or at least under the Tanks....... Was rolled over on a training court in the German Army from a Leopard I and it was frigging loud and scaring
10. Here is my thinking about this Theme, I dont know exactly how the spoting in CM is realized. My way about closing at this would be the following. Tank heads unbuttoned in SE direction, the Commander in the Top of the Cupola looks in driving direction of the Tank with an arc of view of 60° (sharp and intense view is only about 30° but in an overall watch u can estimate 60°) there u can estimate a 90% chance of exploring an unhidden and uncovered untit (percentage gets down with size and light conditions), the driver has also a view of 60° to the front of the Tank but in general a light insufficient spotchance then the Commander due the non optimal sightconditions from his place. Now a Shoot falls and draws attention of the Commander (the driver is still busy with driving), the humam ear is perfect in resolution where a sound comes from and the commander sleve his view arround to the accoustik contact. Now we take a similar look to the ATG --> it fires and smoke and dust and a flash light gets up in front of the barrel (also a heavy sound) now we can calculate the duration of dust and smoke and for how long under what range it can be viewed. If the Commander now is able to spot that cloud in the time it is there he gets a 80%chance that he is able to fix the gun emplacements, if the time is over he has only a 15% chance of finding that emplacement. for this u also got to calculate a little time for scanning the aerea before recon the dust. Now if he spots the enemy gun there also should be a delay of X seconds before others know what he has recovered (depending if he has radio, he is in C&C and status of training and surpression) so when he gets killed before he could report, no other unit gets a info update on that gun, This means also that Units out of C&C and without Radio will become a radio update on new enemys very late or overall not. To protect it by overriding the non-informed unit by the player, the Player can order them to fire at the Target but if the unit database has no info on that enemy-unit and has not spottet it(while no LOS or while it hasnt realy spotet and is out of C&C) the Fire of the unit becomes the status of aerea fire and is decently inefektiv. In a buttoned tank u can reduce the Arc-Angel of the Commander to 30° (due sight districtions) wich will result in a way more realistic behavior of tanks in battle. Inf couldnt be buttoned and has a way better chance of spotting things even to the rear (has virtualy a 360° FOV with a higher chance to spot in 180° to the facing of that unit). so to summarize: - Spotting % goes up in general BUT only in an View-arc to simulate a Tankcommander spotting in a specific direction - Changing the FOV for the commander takes a little time (scanning 360° could so take up to 5-10 sec) - if the commander (or any other unit) doesnt spot the dust in the time it is visible, he gets no aditional bonus for spotting that unit even if it has fired before (no dust/smoke no tip where the gun is) - buttoned up Tanks have a way reduced FOV - Infantry is MUCH better to recon something then Tanks are (due virtual 360° FOV because some men of a squad allways securing the rear, at least in a trainned unit) This way it could also be possible to "draw" attention (and with this FOV of specific units) to some side and give a knock-out from the opposite. Also due the Report and Recieve delay for different statuses of C&C / Radio this would result in a way more realisatic art of spotting and recon (u can spot what u want but if u unable to report it to your neighbor he never will know until he sees it self), also this would result in different spotting levels (Unit spottet unknown by other units and HQ; Unit Spottet known by HQ but not by other units; Units spottet and reconed/known by allmost all)
11.
quote:
Originally posted by Dittohead: That's the thing the germans used to shoot bratwurst into the stands during baseball games.

This can not be. As seen on the Picture above this Item has a Caliber of aprox 14mm, but the German standartized Bratwurst has a max. diameter of 13mm (thats why the German Aircraft using 13mm MG´s). Plus the Germans never fired Bratwurst into the stands during Baseball games, because the Germans dont Played Baseball at that Time here is the Technical data of the German Bratwurst: lenght 16cm (u see longer then your P**** ) diameter 13mm weight 120 gramm Pork & Cow meat mixed with fat and Egg mantlet by a thin hull of sheepintestine and delivered usualy in a Sandwich. Damn Bastards ! Pork our Tiger, pork the Panther, pork our Infantry.... but keep your hands off our Bratwurst...
12. I would strongly recmonet such a feature. Even with the VL´s taken reportet so Camp. Designers can maybee also decide on this not only what troops next battle u get also to choose maybee what map next to use. for the diskussion of the rules and working out all the things we should open an WEB-page for all intrestet to work with you and support u either with datas and or infos. Maybe some can take over writting specific code etc... something like an open source group for CM Campaigns -->CMCPG  to kestrl: if u dont like this happen in your game just simply dont download the add and dont install it. so it doesnt influence your style of CM playing
13. Yep Swastika etc is banned in Germany. The Term of Waffen-SS is free when u dont use it in a "Glorifing Way". There are some Games using Waffen-SS as Term without Problems (Western-Front, Eastern-Front, D-Day [Megaold C64/C128 Game]). BTW if anyone Translates CM to German I would be glad to Help. I can understand if BTS maybe don't wont to give his Native-Product in our hands, but simple send us the Texts and we Translate it for you With greets Uedel
14. Forgot something earlyer. Allow Players to throw Troops in Campaigns after one Battle together. Example i have 4 Squads consisting of 2 men each after 1 Battle in a Campaign, now they are nearly useless. If we be able to throwthem together we may get 1 Squad of 8 Men who can fight now again with efficence. This could also lead to loss 1 Expierence Stage maybe from Veteran to Regular but it is still better then 4 2 men veteran Squads. Greets Uedel
15. i like to see, a) Ammo-Dumps allows infantry to re-arm and grab ammo scout units with a + for hide and spoting c) better Dynamical not-straight Frontlines in Campaigns d) Objekt-linked events like Reinforcment if Victory Flak x is taken e) Units that grab inf-Weapons from dead soldiers if ammo is exhaustet f) More and greater Variety of Buildings Greets Uedel
16. Ány clue how i can restart CM 1.01 ? even after reinstal i get the error can not open Openplay.dll so i dont get it to run anymore.... Cm 1.05 runs fine meanwhile
17. Just startet my 1st try with an TCP/IP play. Setup and first order phase was doing fine. Then after my Computer startet recieving datas CM closed and returned me to desktop. Tryed to restart CM 1.01 beta but get error message that he is unable to find openplay.dll checked out but the .dll is in the CM folder. 2nd grade bug is that the chat window is a little tricky to use with german Keyboard layout, it pops up and closes imeditly sometimes. Switched to UK/US Keyboard layout drivers and the chat window is doing fine but now i am a little suspect about the changes and i dont find all the keys i need for playing because i am used to german layout...... Tip --> make the chat button user configurable........
18. punt any changes made in CMII or did BTS think about it small statemant possible ??
19. What i want to see in CM2 is -Trenches and Rubbles - Campaigns with a better handling of frontlines - Campaigns with Victory locations to capture and hold - Linked Scenarios to reflect Campaigns over long times - better management of troops between campaign games
20. did some testing with CM and recovered following: On-Map Mortars firing on Pz V A/G(Late); IV & VI E: All Mortars are about 200-250 meters from Target NO direct LOS (targetet over HQ Unit with a clear LOS) All tanks stationary all troops regular. Hitratio from Mortars are arround 15-50 % Max. In the Middle arround 30% Details: 81mm 20 Rounds 1 Hit(Top) PzIVG Destroyed (Flameed) 2 inch 19 Rounds 10 Hit (Top) PzVa 3 Inch 11 Rounds 3 Hit (Top) Pz IVE Gun Dmg 81 mm 18 Rounds 8 Hit (Top) PzVg 81 mm 23 Rounds 6 Hit (top) Pz VIE Destroyed 60mm 34 Rounds 14 Hit (Top) Pz Vg 2 inch 19 Rounds 7 Hit (Top) Pz Va Hit at weak point Destroyed etc etc etc So on-map mortars hit very well and from 81mm upward (also 3 inch) these hits are very capaple by destroying any German Tank. Testpattern Offmap: Range between FO and Target 200-300 meters good LOS no supression etc. 25 Pdr 119 Rounds no direct Hit´s on Pz VIE after ~ 60 Rounds Immobilized after ~ 90 Rounds Gun Dmg after ~ 100 Rounds Abandoned 25 Pdr 120 Rounds no direct Hit´s on Pz VA after ~ 20 Rounds Immobilized after ~ 100 Rounds Abandoned 4,5 inch 40 Rounds no direct Hit´s on Pz VG after ~40 Rounds GunDmg 4,5 inch 40 Rounds no direct Hit´s on Pz VA after ~12 Rounds Immobilized after ~40 Rounds Abandoned 105 mm 100 Rounds on no direct Hit´s on Pz VG after ~30 Rounds Immobilized after ~50 Rounds Abandoned 75 mm 80 Rounds 1 Top Hit on Pz VA no Damage after 80 rounds So let us asume --> On-Map Mortars seem to be waaaay to effective in Hit´s and resulting Damage. Off-Map Artillery (Howitzer & Mortar) seem to be right in Hit% (Below 1%) and shows that it is not allways the Hit that destructs Tank because it is the HE effect of Damaging outer Parts of the Tank and make him not operational anymore (Immobilization etc) what results often in a Abandonment of the Tank. It also shows that Pz V A or G can be destructet by Heavy Artillery but not due direct hits because they are rare insteat due the damage done by near hits.
21. one thing what realy wonders me in CM is the high rate of Gun Damaged special on Tiger I. I did no special testing but seen it way to often. Also i mentioned that often the Germans get way to often Top penetratet at long ranges. Did some scenarios with long rang Tank Battles (for example Firefly vs Jagdpanther) not that the Firefly hit more often also he managed to kill him faster at 1400 meter then the Jagdpanther did (several times tried) allways was an Top-Armor penetration (seems that the game engine favors the more balistic way the slower allied projectil goes). just my 0.02€
22. Hi Schatzi, i also enjoyed in German Army the "Sturmabwehrschießen" below 100 m with no use of the aiming optics just fast and showing where the bullets hit but that was rare most times u shoot 3-5 shoots at ranges over 100 meters. Aber mal ehrlich "Schatzi" wie so so ein seltener Nickname
