  1. Had no problem getting them to wax the bunkers with the Javelin. And the Mk19? Wow, that thing is devastating. In fact Im amazed at how fast they react to my orders to use it, area fire, enemy targets etc. Hell I've used other units to spot specific enemies, then used area fire from the 19 to wipe them out. Very impressive.

Some have mentioned that the Javelins may not be fired at bunkers that are empty.

    Dunoo..

  2. I'd give it a 2 so far.

I've got a 4 year old computer, P4 something or other with 1gb of memory and a Gforce 6600GT.

Played a good 10 hours now, and have had no crashes, freezes or anything else bad happen.

Found myself stuck in front of the screen again

this morning..and before I know it, 4 hours are gone. So clearly it's entertaining the hell out of me. And I haven't played any of the previous CM games for at least 2 years.

The experience so far is very close to what I went though with CMBO. Im sucked into the game and I loose track of time. If that isn't a sign of a game that has my interest I don't know what is.

    Some niggles though....

Keeping track of squads that are inside multi story buildings. Holy crap, that is a royal pain in the ass. Very confusing. What happened with being able to turn off roof tops? Oy, this is the biggest gripe for sure.

Vehicles that are hoplessly lost in city streets. I have a screen shot at home I should post... just bizzare behavior at times. And yah, I don't think vehicle path finding is much better than it was years ago. Bummer.

Tac AI? Depends on the scenerio I guess. But it seems to suffer the same problem that previous CM games did when it's on the attack. Especially in QB games. It doesn't do much at all sometimes, and often leaves a vehicle(s) sitting in the back...That said...I had my ass handed to me in game one of the campaign. I have no idea how I'll conquer that particular scenerio.... but that's part of the fun isn't it?

So this is D-day +1, so Im not too worried. This is a special group of game developers and I know they are already working on improving stuff.

Looking forward to user made scenerios, please make me some that don't have cities!!! Thanks! :D

Oh yah, and I almost forgot, as someone who HATES RTS games, I find I am playing this in RT more often than Wego. I never though that would happen....but once I found out you can pause the game to issue orders it wasn't so bad. Yah, I don't always know what took out what..but oh well, Im playing Veteran level so I don't know a lot about what's going on...I can't even imagine Elite level.

  3. Anyone care to comment on the whether or not

getting a Quad core (Q6600) is a better choice

than the Duo E6850? Both are the same price now. (@ $266)

I realize CMSF doesn't take advantage of

multi-core (or so I think I've read) but if Im

putting together a new machine, should I just

    get the Quad?

Be gentle, Im not an uber geek. :D

BTW - does software have to be specially written

to benefit from a quad core? IE - I've got an

older version of Sony Vegas. Would my video

rendering benefit at all? Or would the dual core

    be just as good.

  4. So they don't take Amex. Jeezus, get over it. Order another way!

    Well...go figure.

I am getting my ass beat routinely in Quick Battles where I have to attack. Over and over again I loose. Doesn't matter what side I play.

But on this scenerio, I scored a major victory.

  6. With CMBO, I don't think I've lost ANY Quick Battle to the AI since...well, since I can remember.

But that changed yesterday with CMBB. I was handed a tactical defeat. Ugh. How embarassing.

Things were going very nicely thank you. I couldn't wait to get my Brumbar into action. I was moving my men up nicely (small town) from building to building. Had smoked a couple of T70s that were foolish enough to show up.

Then the LaGG showwed up. I saw it fly by once and thought, oh hell. The next time by it dropped SOMETHING that destroyed my Brumbar, shocked my flampanzer, and leveled a two story building that I had about 4 sqauds in, and a couple of leader. In essence my entire attack went to hell in one second. Oh, the LaGG came back and then immobilized my PZIV. Thanks a lot.

The remaining T70s and some crappy little armored car wrecked havoc on my squads after I was out of armor. (A gun hit on my Stug ended that) In the end I lost all my armor and basically got my ass kicked.

    This ain't your fathers Oldsmobile!

Well, I just lost AGAIN. Jeezus. Played the Finns in a meeting engagement. Had one flame tank, it got toasted. But jeezus, in 1941 the Finns have SQUAT to stop T34s, and KV1s. The AI picked 4 tanks and I think the Cannister rounds elimated 50% of my forces in one area. The rest ran.

    Ugh.
