This is what Steve had to say about it a couple months back
Doh, I should have mentioned the decals thing myself! My guess is we'll implement the hit decals before we have destructible models. There's other benefits to a "decal" system, such as the potential for having customized rank graphics on soldiers, vehicle numbers, building damage decals, etc. I can't promise that all of these things will happen at once, but I can say that once the underlying code is written for decals the foundation will be there.Steve

I was amazed at how long the rest of the guys in the other tracks stayed in those things. They were standing up firing away and taking some pretty bad hits. This was the second one that rolled in and started firing away.

LOL @ Blackcat. Awesome!
-
Has been explained in the past. As I recall the reason is far too much programming effort for very little return.
-
Hits are not displayed graphically.
-
The end.
Amazing throw. Amazing action. This is why I prefer to play WEGO!
-
Now this has to be one of the greatest screen grabs ever, if I do say so myself.
Note the yellow flash just forming in the background. A direct hit!!

Others quickly follow!

Ah, I was thinking there was a built in way. Blah. Ok
-
GAH! How do I take a screen shot????
-
Well, I dunno. Have never been in combat, but I doubt there's a timer running, or even orders that say "Guys, you have 35 minutes to complete this mission".
Agreed with YankeeDog. If the designer makes a compelling reason for a time limit I can buy in. But just randomly making it short to make it harder, no. That sucks.
-
Yah, no kidding. I personally hate short time constraints. Always felt it was artificial.
-
The manual is usually in one of the sub directories, and the game usually a shortcut on the desktop to it.
I didn't bother checking last night though so dunno for sure. I'd be surprised if it wasn't in there.
And yes, the PDF was definitely in the demo, I read through it.
-
The PDF version was packed with the demo. Is it not in the full game? I didn't look.

Never heard of Flashget. Installed it and restarted. Now instead of 50kb I'm getting @250-350 kb!!! Estimated time is now @ 1.25 hours!!! Wooo!!!!
-
Ugh. Im getting dl speeds of 38-80 kb. At this rate it's 8 hours. Good grief that sucks. I routinely DL from other sites at 6mb per sec.
-
And what does the email say? Please don't post on the board about it. Jeezus people..
-
Yah, what The Dude said.
I mean really, WTF is it with people around here lately? Screaming and yelling about what MUST
happen and what must NOT happen. Good lord, grow the hell up. Sounds like grade school brats.
Sheesh.
-
The endless whining about it won't make it show up any faster.

I never thought I would play RT when it was first introduced in SF. But, I found that
I did in fact like it for small missions. But larger stuff? Just impossible for me.
I end up totally focused on one area, and often completely forget about some units entirely.
Just too chaotic for me to handle large scenarios, so I go back to Wego for that. Oh yah, in RT I pause ALL THE TIME!!
-
Mortars useless? Wow, well, tell that to the guys on my side who got waxed by the AI mortars. I mean absolutely hammered. I have also used them to very good effect.
hits and damage visible ?

AFAIK if a tank is dead it will have the "dead" base on it. There may be some FOW included as well.
