  1. Lets not make the process sound TOO difficult.

1: Put your mod crap in a folder

2: Put that folder into the game data folder.

3: Name the folder Z... or anything else as long at its the last name the game checks when its looking for updates.

That it. Can't be easier. Anything else you want to do to manage & store & swap mods is gravy. :)

Thank you a THOUSAND times for that. For some reason I too have not been able to find a simple "how too".

  2. The game engine for Normandy will be feature "complete", excepting one fairly simple thing,

probably next week. The question then is... how long will it take to polish everything?

It's a question we never have a good answer for, but 3 months for polishing would be rather long.

    Steve

Oh Uncle Steve please make this happen. I have 2 weeks off in December and I would like nothing better than to spend 90% of it in front of CM-N. :D

  3. **Spoliers**

Just played this one this morning and enjoyed it. There was one frustrating part,

which has nothing to do with the scenerio designer. That's trying to figure out

what terrain is passable or isn't. After scouting the dry creek I thought I could

move across on the left side in what seemed to be a slight slope into the river.

So I move there and then discover I can't cross. :(

Anyone got some idea on how to figure this out ahead of time?

Well, I can't complain, with all those crack Marines on hand I got a total victory

without even occupying the cocoa fields. Only lost 5 guys. Having a couple of F16s on hand

made quick work of one group of baddies that were putting a cramp in my style.

Oh yah, the sudden appearance on the right flank by what appeared to be a lot

of technicals and baddies REALLY caught me off guard. I simply counter attacked

and laid waste to them. Ooorah!

    Fun scenerio!

  4. *** spoilers on mission 2 ****

Ok...I must really suck because I cannot get past the 2nd mission. I've had 2 goes at it now,

and it's embarassing as hell since I KNOW where the bad guys are and I still get

    my ass kicked.

My second go was actually worse than my first. WTF!?!?! The first attempt I actually drove

the trucks loaded up with guys into the field on the left and dismounted. I was SURE there

were baddies in the tree line in that trench, and yet I still never saw them until it was

too late. (I approached with split teams in hunt mode) The sniper on the hill wreaked havoc,

but I pinned him down with an MG finally. In the end I still lost.

Second try I thought I'd skip the trucks and go down the right side over the walls. I did

that, only to get waxed worse this time than the first. WTF???????????

Someone mentioned keeping engagement ranges at 100 yards or more. Well...thats nice

but if there's nothing to shoot at how do you do that?

  5. When units are "buggering out", the crawl away from the target, which is good I guess, but at the end of the turn they do not change their facing. So they have their backed turned to where the danger is most likely to come from!

Yep, I experienced this right off. I had a squad of guys panic and take cover near a wall with their backs to the danger. Well, they really didn't take cover, just kneeled there.

  6. Wow. Dudes actually panic now!

Looking good so far. If I could ever get the display driver crash thing resolved I might

be able to play a full game without it "white screening" on me when I least expect it. :(

Huh...that's weird. I must have done something wrong. The Marines are missing from my install now.

Well...I guess I can download it again and reinstall and it'll be ok?

  7. Would love to see screen shots/desriptions of how people went about this.

Personally I moved my squads pretty quickly. Ended up with two flanking the

trench at the top. I was a bit surprised to get a total victory, and REALLY

surprised to find so many dead baddies inside the fort. Holy crap! Would

love to know which of my squads/guys made the biggest impacts there.

  8. So, no special forces, submarines or other developments like that - that stuff only happens in the movies.

    And yet...the article states

France, which has troops in nearby Djibouti and also participates in a multi-national naval

force patrol in the area, has intervened twice to release French sailors kidnapped by pirates.

Commandos freed two people whose boat was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden earlier this month

and in April, six arrested pirates were handed over to the French authorities for trial.

I doubt that any sub or military vessel was shadowing the captured ship either

The USS Howard is there doing just that.
