Any Sneak Preview in Southern Ontario?
Colin replied to Boris Balaban's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I'm in London, Ontario. I hereby nominate myself to host a CMBB get-together. I'll leave the rest up to Matt and Charles. -
CMBO and CMBB for Mac OS X
Colin replied to Lucas Villegas-Aristizabal's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
CMBB for OSX = Good. It's wrong for a modern game to come out w/o OSX support. It's only going to cost them customers. -
Memories of your first CM game (VoT/CE/LD/Reis)
Colin replied to CMsoldier's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I remember downloading the beta demo about 11 seconds after it was released. Reisberg was my first fight but I was hooked after LD. I remember bagging the tiger with a zook (Cpl Matsuoka, I believe). My god that was a long time ago isn't it? Preordered as soon as I quit the beta demo for the first time. -
Just like to point out that my name is on the battlefront.com site. AND YOURS ISN'T! Well, it's probably not anyway. Unless it is. Just wanted to thank you again Matt! Great work on the new site! Sorry for wasting your time.

I'd suggest everyone grab the June National Geographic. It has a great feature on D-Day with some maps and stuff. Just a heads up.

Hey I have a pretty early member number, eh?
-
Don't worry about it. It's working.

Ya it seems to be working under my QT6 beta... I mean ... uhh... nothing

You can find Windows Media Player for Mac somewhere on the Microsoft site. Anyone feel like posting them in Quicktime or some other non-monopolizing standard?

Thanks thats all I wanted to know. My fog is working fine. I just never really played foggy maps.

Ya I know the Radeon 7000 is the 'slow radeon'. The older Radeon is better but it's hard to find and more expensive. Looking at the IMG review shows that the Radeon 2001 is really better at higher resolutions then the 7000 (because the Radeon 7000 has no TCL). However the 7000 runs at a higher clock speed the then Radeon 2001 (183Mhz vs. 166 Mhz). I'm running a 15in moniter that can't go high then 1024 x 768 and I'm sure the card is limited by the CPU as well. http://imgmagazine.com/reviews/view.php?ID=232&Page=3 And I think I've decided I can put up with those freezes because I'm sure disabling the cache will make those turns calculate slower. What I'm really wondering is are there any issues with CM and newer ATI cards? [ May 13, 2002, 05:59 PM: Message edited by: Colin ]

Disable the cache? Is that a good thing to do? Is there anyway I can disable only when running CM? Won't that slow it down more? So many questions now!

I've been having some random freezes on my B&W G3/400 w/ 320MB of RAM and the original Rage 128 16MB under 9.2.2. I'm using the version 6.3.9 of the Rage 128 3D accelerator (don't know if that matters. Is there anything newer?) and the latest OpenGL (1.2.4). I'm using lots of high res textures but I have 120MB allocated to CM. The game seems to play alright but the most part (actually I'm not sure the fog is working now that I think about it) but occasionally the game will hang. The sound continues playing but the cursor disappears and nothing responds. I try to force quit and then the game freezes completly (sound stops) but still doesn't quit. I have to restart. It works fine for the most part but this is annoying. Any suggestions? Also I'm thinking of upgrading to the Radeon 7000. Are there any problems with that card?

My Water in rivers and streams look's funny?
Colin replied to Lane's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The Bulge mod is probably changing your water to some ice texture. -
Whoa....It's been a long, long time. Just played Reisberg for the first time since the beta demo. Wow. I forgot why I loved this game. Might even inspire me to update my site! hehe I had been playing on a PowerMac 6500/250Mhz/96MB w/ 12MB Voodoo2 but I now have a G3/400Mhz/320MB w/ 16MB Rage 128. What a difference. The textures never even used to show up properly. They were all washed out. Now I'm playing with loads of hi-res textures and sweet new sounds. Anyway...The point of me posting this is : Are there any mods for the 88mm FlaK? The stock texture is boring and bland. I want more! Anyone?

The mistake on the caption is pathetic!!! I really think it would be great if CM would actually run under OS X. I don't have the setup to try but if some one did a firm answer would be good. Anyone know what the status on Mac support in CMBB is? Last I heard Mac users were left out because BTS said it was too much work to change to OpenGL. -
Any ideas whether or not CM would run (in all it's glory) well on this computer? The only thing that worries me is it's 8MB Rage Mobility 128 chip for graphics? I'm talking about all the special effects working too. Fog, smoke, transparent buildings etc. Thanks in advance.
