  1. Hmm I'm thinking some sort of layer placed during design representing population density on the map. Obviously it would be tiny as people don't tend to hang around but I think there needs to be some way to limit the CAS and HE that is tossed around. Basically I'm thinking that unit tacAI would react differently in areas that the scenario designer designated as 'potentially populated'. Perhaps CAS and arty would be delayed and better target ID needed before firing or just hesitation on the MGs etc.
  2. Well I am giddy and there's only 2 screenshots. After reading what the BTS crew said about WW2 and the new engine etc I agree 100%. I only hope a Mac version is done quickly, but will probably end up buying a copy for the PC if it comes out first. Glad to hear the game is taking a different direction, and I am particularly interested in the C3 implementation. The question I couldn't find an answer to was regarding civilians? Would there be any? I know it doesn't fit in with the scale, etc but in modern combat they are a reality on the battlefield. I want to see the insurgents as "Civilians?" on screen hehe. As for the Stryker I'm intrigued as it's built here in London, Ontario. I have a few posters of them (and the Canadian Coyote) as a family friend wrote the training manuals for GM Defense (the manuals that GM provide to the US Army so they can train their guys). I will try to find some more prints and I may go down to see if I can get any neat information about the Stryker. The posters have a nice full colour graphic of the Stryker and tell the story of Stryker's MoH. I will post again here assuming I can get these and make them available. 3. edit: My sig is pwnage, I forgot I had that LOL!!! Also I've been playing a lot of tactical FPS (Clancy games mostly Ghost Recon) there's more twitch but doesn't get in my brain like CM does! Not as many AAR and OOBs in CQB!!! thought i'd kick off the return with a double post [ October 18, 2005, 04:07 PM: Message edited by: Colin ]
  4. OMG!! I CAN RETURN!!!! MY RETURN IS HERE!!! I ALWAYS PROMISED TO COME BACK WHEN THIS HAPPENED!!!!
  5. Colin

    Mac?

More specifically OSX??? Plz plz plz......
  6. this could bring me back to BTS. I love you, I want you to want me back!!! I need CMII.
  7. excellent i was just checking!!!! good to hear you guys are still alive!!! you are definetly the company I respect most, simply for your amazing support and feedback during the CMBO era. i need to find my copy of OS 9 and play some Last Defense or i'm gonna be sick. i love you guys!
  8. c'mon doesn't Steve and Matt and Kwazy read this anymore?
  9. I running my good ol' stable OS X rig and have saddened myself by seeing all these questions and answers it likened me to a finer day when men were men and the CMBO beta demo was but a whisper anyhoo....it's CM: II on deck now right? can i start slowly building excitement? I'm talking about the engine rewrite to get away from QuickDraw or whatever old school 3D API that CM has been stuck with since Apple decided to switch to OpenGL on the good ol BTS fellas. wow i manged to use good ol' twice and didn't sound southern.
  10. Ibook is probably your best bet nowadays. CM is not altivec enhanced so there is little speed gain by the G4 architecture. +SP?_
  11. hey hey i'm here too it is good to see old names still about i've been around since before the original beta demo...
  12. Okay, you said there will be no delay in the new engine. That's all I'm worried about. I'm just looking forward to whatever I can play in OS X. I'm glad to hear that from you. Who knows maybe CMAK will make me go back and boot into OS9. Hell, CMBO draws me in from time to time. Kwazy, I know you are an artist. I'm surprised you don't use a Mac. You guys have always had great support and I'm glad to see a BTS official answer so quickly. Beautiful. I love you guys. GL on CMAK and I'll see you all when CMX2 comes out for Mac OS X.
  13. Personally I'd like to have CMX2 a year earlier then a continuation of this engine. BTS is a small, talented, devoted crew and an undertaking like CMAK takes lots of effort and research. This is time better spent elsewhere, I think BTS knows it. Maybe there wouldn't be issues with Nvidia fog if the game was programmed for a recent version of DirectX rather then what was available in 1998. This game has been begging for an engine overhaul for ages. Why do you have to buy all new software? OpenOffice and MacGIMP are great office suite/photoeditors. You guys need to experience real multitasking (and i'm on a G3/400. I can't imagine a dual G4/1.42).
  14. Noooooooooooooo! Afrika Korps looks good for a 5 year old engine. I'm actually surprised BTS elected to continue development. Again, I must lurk until the next release of Combat Mission 1-2 years down the line. It's a real shame about the lack of OS X support and it's hilarious that BTS isn't coding for the most modern OS on the market. It's missing an opportunity in not updating and you PC users should be upset that BTS is continuing development on this older engine rather then focusing on what available now. I have dreams of playing CM on a Dual G4 and Combat Mission uses both processors and is coded to use Altivec for the math calculations. This system processes a turn in 2 seconds, while ripping a CD and burning a DVD in the background and is still responsive. I have another dream of quad IBM PPC 970's playing CM that displays every man and has per pixel lighting but thats another story. Well anyway I just thought I'd let myself beheard. Bring on the PC trolls. :drools and limps back to where he came from::
  15. He makes a good case. I musta smoked out my brains.
  16. But I don't care about Battlefront I only care about my self!! Seriously I just can't get the new engine fast enough. OS X needs this game!!!
  17. I'd really like to see a battlefront.com response to this. That is the first really constructive solution. Right now OS 9 crashes all the time and I can't bear to go back to non-protected memory and no multitasking. Booting back to OS 9 is such a hassle if I'm playing PBEM. I just wanna be able to open up CM play a turn (10-15 minutes) and then continue what I'm working on. It's just too much hassle to boot back and TCP/IP really isn't the right pace to be playing this type of game at. Steve, Charles, Matt!!!! PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS!!! I will be your personal slave for life if this is possible and you do!! AT LEAST CHECK IT OUT!!!
  18. I know I've been out of the loop for a long time but do Steve and Charles ever answer questions anymore?
  19. I think he might have been referring to my sig. How he got Mac only CM I have no idea. So no response or constuctive ideas about my post? This forum has changed.
  20. Here it is: Mac OS X Support. Native OpenGL across all platforms. Altivec Support on Mac to produce amazing math power for turn crunching. Anything been said about this before? I'm not around much anymore.
  21. Hey I'm not sure if any of you CM vets will remember me but I've been around since before the beta demo. I haven't moved to CMBB because I cannot afford it and refuse to pirate it. So I'm just wondering...is this place anything like it was? Madmatt still up to no good?
  22. I'm really starting to think this is a bad descision. No one after January can buy a Mac and get CMBB for it. That's rediculous.
  23. I was hoping it would be released as the game went gold like CM:BO. Or is that the Sept 20 date?
  24. Will there be a demo of CM:BB? And if so when?
